My uncle has been at Sunrise of Edgewater for 5 months now. It is a lovely assisted living facility with very caring and pleasant staff. He's been able to put on enough weight that he's much healthier. The facility is located close to stores and restaurants that he can walk to. He has a single studio room with a very nice window, a little kitchenette, and a bathroom. There's a variety of rooms available. There are shared rooms, and then there are 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments. They have art classes, but my uncle doesn't participate in anything. There are living rooms, dining rooms, and a library. There's plenty to do there if you would like to participate.

The staff at Sunrise of Edgewater seemed friendly. The salesperson was nice, answered all my questions, and gave me lots of information. The bottom line is it's a nice facility, but it's also like the other place, it's a lot of money. They're limiting the number of diners in the dining room, and the visitors are not allowed to eat with the residents because people can't be masked when they eat.

Sunrise of Edgewater was very nice. It was definitely a nice apartment that my father could live in. It had all the amenities that we were interested in, as well as the attention and memory care that we were interested in. The staff was very informed. They definitely answered all my questions and they're very, very nice. I definitely like the staff and the programs that they had. It just was a bit outside of our price range. The rooms were decently sized and clean. They had enough room for a small living room and a bedroom. I had no complaints. The showers and baths were definitely suitable for him. If we could afford it, I definitely would love to have my father there. I saw meeting rooms, games, walking paths, and the dining facility. All of them were very, very nice, elegant, and completely suitable for him. There were people taking walks and playing checkers at a table, and most people were socially distancing and doing exercise. I saw a physical therapy session at the facility and a number of people were engaged. I also saw the staff playing a memory game with some of the patients. It's an excellent facility with responsive and informed staff. Unfortunately, it's an expensive option.

I moved into Sunrise of Edgewater and the two weeks of lockdown was extremely difficult for me. I did not have a working television, I was not allowed out of my room, and I had no contacts with other people except when they brought medication, so it was an extremely difficult time. They are very well staffed, and it appears to me they have as much staff as they need in order to conduct their business. They are currently serving a lunch meal in the dining room and other meals are provided in the rooms. Medications are brought to the rooms as well. There is very little activity of any kind, and there are a lot of decorations because of the holidays. They allow visiting, but they make an appointment. You can have a 20-minute visit twice a week inside the garden area. They try to repair anything that goes wrong as best as they can. I had a situation where my bathroom could not be made warm, so it was cold all the time until I could not shower. I asked repeatedly for someone to fix it, and they said they do not know what to do and what could be broken. Finally, I said, "I have not showered in 10 days and I'm going to shower in somebody else's room if you do not fix this." So, somebody went up to the roof, found something up there that was not working, and now it's fine, but it took too long a time. The other thing that troubled me is that I said, "My room is warm, why can't I get a little fan and put the fan on, so it would take some of the heat from my room and push it into the bathroom," and they gave me the most incredibly stupid response. They said, "No, you cannot have small electrical appliances in your bathroom," I said, "What about the electric shaver, what about the hair dryer? What are you talking about?" and they were kind of stumbling and did not know what to say about that. It was an unprepared kind of response. It made me very angry because it did not seem to matter to them that I was in a place where I could not shower. It was very, very stupid and petty and unfortunate. This year, they try quite hard to present a variety of pleasant food in good portion sizes, because they are very well aware that we don't do enough to eat more than we're being fed and that's good because in many other places, they feed you overly. The rooms are very beautiful. My room has five windows in an octagon shape, and it is just beautiful. I feel very safe. I feel that they really go such a long way to make sure that we are kept safe. I want to see how they handle the vaccination because they tend to be a little bit behind on things. They should be actively securing information to give vaccination now, so when our turn comes, we would be able to do it, but I don't see anything happening now. The staff tries very hard to be pleasant and caring. They have somewhat of a difficulty with managing some of our residents because residents at this age and under these circumstances tend to be difficult and very self-opportunistic. They have a hard time managing that, but they do the best they can. They try do some kind of physical workout, I think, but it is not seen with great pleasure, and I have not taken part of that. I find them extremely expensive.

Sunrise of Edgewater is a nicer facility than the other places I visited. They have really great caring staff, but they could not meet my needs. There is only one wing for dementia patients upstairs, and it's locked. It was designed for senior living. It's a beautiful facility, it has a charming atmosphere, and it's in a great location. They had a lot of activities for the residents.

Sunrise of Edgewater was a great location, and it only takes half an hour by bus to get into the city. It has beautiful views, and the grounds and landscaping was beautiful. The apartments were spacious and they have lots and lots of activities for the residents there. The staff member that I met was very nice, but one of the ladies was kind of pushy. It was a very clean place and it seems to have high standards.

I saw assisted living and dementia care at Sunrise of Edgewater. I was very impressed with what I saw. The level of care seemed really excellent. It had lovely surroundings, and the rooms were nice. It was a little expensive, but it's a lovely place. They took me around and introduced me to many of the staff members. They were very knowledgeable, well-trained, and friendly. It's pretty convenient to New York City and easy to get to via public transportation.

Has declined over the past year. Staff changes have been for the worse. The Executive Director seems to be a friend to all the staff and not a director leader or manager.

Sunrise was very lovely, and the people were very attentive, but it was more expensive. The apartments were very nice, and every apartment had a window into the hallway. The staff was very professional and warm. They gave us apple pie to take home which was delicious.

We had a good experience with Sunrise. It was very clean, well maintained, and didn’t feel like an assisted living place. The food was very good. The care was not great, but good. The staff was very friendly, and accommodating. My father was comfortable there. He stayed a month before he passed away.

The staff at Sunrise of Edgewater couldn't be nicer. They gave us a nice tour and sat down with us to go over the options. It was a very clean place. I didn't see any activities because we went at night. I saw one room which they called the studio. It is small, but it is exactly what someone would need. The place is very nice, and they seemed caring. The place is clean, and they seemed to be involved with their patients. It is also close to where I live; that is why I went there.

I looked at Sunrise for my mom, and it was very nice. The rooms were very small. Going from a 10-room house to a 2-room apartment would be kind of hard. The food was excellent. The staff was very good.

We really liked Sunrise of Edgewater. It was a very positive experience. We were treated well, and our questions were answered. We looked at a studio and a 2-bedroom that could be shared. My sister thinks the shared 2-bedroom is ideal for my father.

Sunrise was very nice, comfortable, and looked a little more upscale. The rooms were fine and I thought the smallest room had a shared bathroom. The staff was very helpful, too.

I actually ended up putting my mom at Sunrise of Edgewater because it was closer to my house and so far it is working out well. I wanted to see my mom every day. They have a great group of staff which I think makes a big difference. They have a lot of activities and they bring people in from outside to perform like piano players. They also have bus trips. I think it’s a great facility.

Sunrise at Edgewater is a really good facility. The staff are also very good and very caring. They kept my mother-in-law clean. She was happy with food and the room. They kept the room clean and they kept her busy. They offer a lot of interaction. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

Sunrise is very nice. It's very cheerful, a little bit chintzy and a little bit Victorian, a nice mix of furniture, cheerful carpet and cheerful people. Very well decorated, very well laid out; exactly what you would hope for. But, that place was quite empty. I know people that live there and they are saying that they serve good food in there.

The locale of Sunrise of Edgewater offers much convenience for any person who is looking for an assisted living facillity that offers all of the amenities of city living but just outside of one of the biggest cities of the world,New York City.Residents can easily take a bus just blocks from the facillity New York. The facillity is located on River Road, a road that follows at the edge of the Hudson River. This facillity offers stunning views of the New York City skyline. It is a relatively new facillity therefore it contains many state of the art features. The staff of this facillity is impeccable. The individual rooms are all clean, good smelling, and homey. The wellness visits by the nursing staff give all of the residents the opportunity to voice their concerns in a very convenient manner. The meals that are served are well made. This facillity is one of the best I have ever seen.

The location of the facility could be better. It is on the water and has a view of the NYC skyline. However, because of this the tide leaves a horrible smell. Although the location could be better, they do have an adequate facility. They have Tennis courts and a golf range not very far from the home. The staff doesn't seem to eager about working there.

I visited this place about 6 months ago. It seemed to be a place where retired or old or people that cannot live on their own seem to have an easier time adjusting to a life where they constantly need someone to care for them. One problem I had with the place is that some areas had a very foul odor or smelled really bad. Some areas of the building smelled of old dried urine that had not been cleaned in weeks. Other than the smell problem the place seemed to be successful in their goal. The bad smell might be the only thing that can potentially drive away customers or visitors or even people that might be posing as visitors but are actually there to evaluate the place. Once this one problem is resolved, i cannot see how this place cannot be a very successful and thriving home that many people can look forward to being in when they get older and can no longer live on their own or need someone to look after them. Other than that I have no other comments or concerns about this assisted living home.
