My mother is here. We chose it because it was a beautiful place, like a resort. It's very nice. She gets assistance with bathing. Her medication is given to her, so she doesn't have to worry about her own schedule. The staff is very helpful. I don't see everything that they do, but my mother likes it there. She doesn't get involved in them, but they have all kinds of activities. They have people come in and entertain. They have games. They have happy hour, and they have a theater. The facility is very clean and homey. They don't take any kind of Medicaid, so I'm running out of money really fast. They take people out on excursions and shopping trips. They have a mini bus to take them out like to lunch. It's good for anybody who can afford to live there.

Mira Vie at Brookfield was terrific. The staff who gave the tour was terrific, too. She showed me everything she possibly could show me. They were having a live music presentation at the time, and I was looking at the group of people in there listening and watching. Most were bobbing their heads or keeping time with the music with their feet. They all seemed to be enjoying it. I got a look at the entire week's activity on the main bulletin board in the lobby, so you're able to see what's going to happen on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday, Thursday, and so forth, and so it was very well organized. I looked at the dining room and it was neat and clean, too. The staff showed me a one-person room. It had all the amenities that you could need for one person, including a step-in shower with grips. They show movies every so often, and the staff said that the movie room is always open if for some reason one of the residents can't sleep, and they want to just come down and put on a movie of their choosing, they can do that. I met the chaplain over there. He seemed very nice. After we were all done with everything, the staff took me to a conference room. We sat down and we probably talked for a good 45 minutes to an hour. She answered any questions that I had and filled in any gaps she might have left out. She gave me her card and told me she was going to stay in touch with me. I felt very, very comfortable over there. And the staff that we passed, whether they were in the hall or they were going somewhere, they all said hi, smiled, nodded, or whatever. They can arrange transportation for you. You can use their medical people or they'll take you to your own doctor of choice. It just seemed to have everything.

I was able to tour it was excellent, and my mom loved it there, but it was just too expensive. For assisted living we're looking at $13,000 a month minimum to start, and it could be more than that. Everyone was very helpful, accommodating, and friendly. I liked that they have different levels of care. I was able to speak to some residents that were there, and they loved it. Within the community, they have a very good reputation, and the residents were happy. They have a good variety of activities. The different levels of care could really tailor your living arrangement to what is needed, and as your needs change, they had the staff in the facilities to see that you can stay within the same community. You may have a different unit or different location, but you're still part of the same community, just a different apartment or different house. I didn't try the food, but we looked at the menu and the menu looked very good. A couple of the residents there that we spoke with really liked them and they had no complaints about the food. Everything was very clean, they have doctors on staff or ones that come in who were rated highly, and they a podiatrist that comes in, so you don't have to go off site because the doctors would come in to see you, which makes it so much easier.

We visited a year ago, so everything was under COVID regulations. We only got to visit the rooms and dining room, but no one was being taken out to the dining room or going in activities because of COVID. The place was beautiful and very clean. The rooms were lovely. The staff members were very friendly. Overall, it seemed to be a very comfortable environment. The girl who gave us the tour was very helpful. She followed up with me occasionally to see if we were interested in any of the accommodations for my mother.

It is a very nice place. It's within 10 minutes from my sister; which was one of the main reasons why we picked it. My mother is happy there, and our experience has been excellent. The people are very caring, and comforting. I would recommend them.
