I live at The Residency at Northfield Retirement Communities. I have lived here for nine years, and my wife has been in the care center here for almost six years. My main comment is that it's the best decision I ever made to move here. I've been very satisfied and very pleased. The nursing care facility does an excellent job. In a care facility, nothing is ever perfect, but they do a darn good job. We have an exercise room, a library, some community rooms, and a chapel area where church services are held, so it's very good. There are a lot of things going on. They have a bingo group that plays bingo. I don't participate in that, but it's there if I want to, and other activities, too, so it's good. I've been here for nine years, and it's one of the best moves I ever made, and I would encourage anyone to move here because it's really good.

The tour I had of The Residency at Northfield Retirement Communities was good. The staff during the tour was very good and very informative. The rooms were roomy, open, inviting, and modern. There was an open meeting room where guests could come and meet with the residents and they could have a party like for a birthday if they choose to. There's a library and you could have laundry in your room. There's a couple of laundry rooms that were open where you could do your own laundry, a place for puzzles, and a breakfast place where a lot of people meet for coffee in the mornings after breakfast. They have a fitness person come in during the week and hold classes. There's a kitchen in the apartment and they can cook. They can also have meals delivered to the room or they can eat in the dining room.

The actual Residency at Northfield Retirement Communities was probably better in the overall of what they offer, just not as nice as the individual. The apartments were wonderful. They weren't quite as nice as the other place I toured, but the advantage of the Residency was that it offered a program where it moved from independent to full care. It was fabulous. They probabaly have more advantage because they have a continuous program and it's all located right there. The gentleman showing the apartments around was wonderful. It's fairly new, so everything was bright and shiny. They had a beautiful dining room, a huge library, and they have game rooms. They take you to doctors' appointments and they have a lot of amenities. You could also have your own care with a garage if they were available.

I live in The Residency at Northfield Retirement Communities. I'm just thrilled to be able to talk about it. We've lived here for 12 years. It's just a wonderful place to be. They try to take care of everything that can possibly happen. We've just been through all this pandemic, and no one could ever have predicted that and all the things that would happen as a result. Our facility here just took care of things and made it work so that we could still function, we could still see each other, we just had to be careful about certain things. They did it just extremely well, so I just give them a big plus for that, too. The staff members take really good care of us. They pay attention, they're here for us, and they're very steadfast. It's just been a good experience. Food is here and it's done, and I don't have to do it, and I guess that's the biggest plus I can think of. I'm just grateful to have those things. I never dreamed that I was going to live this long after I moved here, and I am well and healthy and so is my husband. I just didn't know that we would be living in this kind of an environment. It's very important that they take care of us and that they understand what our needs are. They are adding on all kinds of activities in these last 12 years. Some of the things had to be changed because of the pandemic, and that meant being able to change and being flexible and being able to have new answers. They handled it very, very well. We have good activities and we're looking forward to going back to even more.

I'm in the independent living at The Residency at Northfield Retirement Communities. I have lived at The Residency for 11 wonderful and blessed years. My husband and I moved in together on April 12th in 2010, and he passed away suddenly on June 7th of 2010. I will say that he also enjoyed every day that he lived here. He was very grateful for being able to live in a place like this where they take such good care of you. When he had to go to the care center, he had very good care there, also. When he knew he was dying, he went to the CEO and said, 'I have two requests. Make sure Shirley is taken care of and make sure the new care center will be built.' The CEO came to me and told me this after he passed and mission was accomplished on both requests. I have a wonderful and very special life living at The Residency. I feel so blessed. I have many friends, as do all the other residents. Everyone is very friendly here. I still have all the friends I have living in our home. You can come and go as you please and do all the things that you did when you lived in your own home. You can be as busy as you like. We have church services here on Thursday morning in our local chapel, which is beautiful. We also have exercise classes several times a week. We have a monthly coffee serving homemade cinnamon rolls and pecan rolls. The food served in the dining room is very good, too. We have a beautiful community garden in the summer. When it starts producing, we then have a farmer's market in our dining room and the residents with the produce bring it to the farmer's market and the residents buy their favorite veggies with the freewill offering. The money goes to the garden committee to keep the garden up. There is also a nice shelter with many places to sit if someone wants to picnic. I love to play bridge and I play in two groups here in The Residency. We take turns having it in our apartments. We had a beautiful home that we loved, but I can honestly say I have never missed my home. This is home to me, and I feel very secure here and I am very comfortable in my apartment. I thank God every day that I live here. Our two sons both told me that they are so happy and relieved that Dad decided to move here because they know I am well taken care of, and they don't have to worry about me. The staff members are all very pleasant. Food is just like when I cook in my own home, everything wasn't always perfect, but it is usually pretty good. I just want people to know that this is a very good place to live. I'm a person who doesn't like to be alone at night. However, I am alone in my apartment and I live on the ground floor, and I have never been afraid or uncomfortable. I have totally loved living here.

I have lived at The Residency (The Residency at Northfield Retirement Communities) which is the independent living since August of 2011. I have lived here for 10 years. My apartment is a 900-square-foot, two-bedroom apartment. When I bought in here, I bought into long-term care, which means I can move from independent to assisted living to our care center if it's needed. I would just like to say that I'm very happy here. I've been a widow for 20 years, and I have children who live in other parts of the country. They are very happy I'm here. They know that I'm safe and that I'm well taken care of, and so for that reason, my family and I are very comfortable with this arrangement. As I say, I've lived here for 10 years, and I will continue to live here as long as I live in one capacity or another. I'm very happy with my situation. They take very good care of us. At the present time, I'm getting one meal a day and it's very well prepared and it's in our dining room. Since Covid came in in March of 2019, they have taken very good care of us. They had made sure that we are safe, and we've had our shots. They arranged for our shots in January of 2021. Things are going very well. I just wanted to make a statement that if people are looking for a retirement community, I would be happy to recommend Northfield Retirement Community. It's just a good situation, and I'm very happy and very safe here. I would just like to recommend it to anyone who would be interested in coming into a retirement community. The staff members are very accommodating and very willing to listen to our concerns. We have a library, an exercise room, a meeting room, and a lounge for visiting with people, so that we can have our family in. It's a beautiful place with beautiful grounds. During Covid, we were very limited on activities, but we're getting more back into it. We have an exercise program we have had in the past, and we have had entertainment come in, and that's all opening up again. It was very much appreciated. We have movies and bingo and all of that is opening up again, so we're looking forward to having it completely open in the near future. It costs quite a bit to move in, but I bought in to long-term care and I understand that. The living cost monthly is no more than that I would be spending if I live in my own residence when you take into consideration utilities, lawn care, and insurance, and I had to pay for everything, and those things are all provided for me here.

I currently live as an Independent resident and have enjoyed the many activities provided - especially the accessible community garden. We have become an extended family and share a loving concern for each other. The life care option is such a comfort to my family as they know I will be cared for regardless of my needs.
