I am/was a resident of this facility

We decided to move to Eastmont independent living over 4 years ago. I am so very grateful we did. So many things that would be of concern in home-living do not exist here or are taken care of. We were thinking of the future and our premonition came true. My husband is in Meadowview Care Center, a skilled nursing care unit. The good news is that I can visit and/or stay with him any time without going outside in inclement weather. Whether I am with him or not, I know he is being well taken care of by the kindest caregivers. That is such a relief. I, too have access to immediate care with a 3-digit phone, pull cord, or verbally by Alexa. We call drop into each other via Alexa. Eastmont encourages and enables us to stay fit with their exercise programs. It is challenging, There are ways to walk a mile inside or outside. It is interesting to notice how much friendship there is between staff and residents, which enhances our feeling of security. Resident friends really feel like family. We both love music and we can still enjoy together Eastmont's musical and other events inside Eastmont's complex. I currently take him in a wheel chair. This summer we also went to an outdoor event. All in all, we could not have made a better decision than to make Eastmont our home. The key thing I want to add: it is important to make the decision to move before you have to, so that you can come in easily and have the strength and well to make and enjoy friends.

I am/was a resident of this facility

When I moved to Eastmont in 2011, it was one of the best decisions I have made in my lifetime. It was a welcoming and diverse community making me feel like part of a larger family which I had not experienced for years before I moved into Eastmont. When family or friends have asked me about my experience at Eastmont my first response is usually, 'I don't cook and I don't clean'. I can choose to eat at noon or evening each day, and there are always many great choices on the menu which I find satisfying and healthy. A housekeeper comes to my apartment once every other week to clean, so maintaining my living space is very easy. Through the years I have enjoyed many interesting programs from outside speakers or performance groups. Our monthly calendar—Programs and Events-- never has a day without some kind of activity, and I always can make my own choice what I want to do. Eastmont was stimulating, I took on the position of being a reporter for the Eastmont Courier which was something I never envisioned before. There have been a few occasions during my years at Eastmont when I have not felt well, and have been able to seek advice from an Eastmont nurse; it is comforting to know this help is always available if needed. I did not expect to become healthier at Eastmont, but I did even well into my 80's. Eastmont encourages and enables exercise and socialization. To anyone considering a place for retirement, I would whole-heartedly recommend Eastmont.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I lived in a small town where families looked out after each. Eastmont is like that. When there is a need it is meant by the administration and the residents. Just recently we got the COVID 19 booster shots and the double strength flu vaccine. I’ve enjoyed the amazing opportunities and great activities at Eastmont! I was a 91-year-old widow when I moved into Eastmont’s Independent Living about 2 years age with many levels of care in the same location for as long as needed. The residents are friendly and I live independently in my own apartment. A number of incidents can show my feelings. I was on a long walk when two people, one on each side of me assisted me over rough terrain to enjoy the walk and bird watching. Another time that points out kindness and caring is when my newspaper was not brought in, my neighbor called to see if I was OK. I was not so he called the nurse who came quickly and cared for me. When I first moved in, I couldn’t get my car into the garage and it was cold and dark. One of the staff put my car into the garage for me. Once I was not able to get my bed made-up before housekeeping came and the cleaning lady put on clean sheets and made my bed for me without my even asking. I enjoyed the welcome breakfast with my neighbors on my floor. All this is done cheerfully with the desire to please. I feel cared for and all my needs are taken care of with the assurance that all requirements will be provided as needed. I understand that Eastmont is the only non-profit facility offering these levels of care all in one location.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I am ecstatic that I joined Eastmont as a Life Care resident 5 years ago with my wife at the age of 71. When I became a resident, Eastmont was a 5-Star facility in all the areas required to be a Life Care CCRC. I was surprised that we went to more cultural activities in a month than we did in a year while living in our family home. When Eastmont’s current construction is completed, our expectations will be greatly exceeded. As I am very active and had no prescription medications. I did not expect to benefit from Eastmont's expertise. WRONG! Due to Eastmont’s structure and programs, I grew “younger” as my health improved in several ways which is priceless. I learned during my first group exercise that because I could not lift up my left toe very far, that was a fall risk with could mean broken bones. Eastmont’s Health Care Director immediately saved us thousands of dollars by advising us on Plan D prescription drug insurance. I had several years ago before coming to Eastmont been diagnosed with 40% occlusion in my left ventricle main artery which if it had been 50%, I would have had a bypass. I refused heart regulation medicine, I choose to modify my diet, exercise, and use a blood oxygen and heart monitor to keep my heart rate below 120 during exercise. With a year of exercise, I could exercise fairly strenuously and my heartrate stayed below 120. This happened before I came to Eastmont When I came to Eastmont, I participated in three time as week exercise for 30 minutes, where I slowly increased my weight and strength of exercise bands. I improved from barely touching my knees to touching my ankles. We at every exercise session practiced balance exercise. In addition, I used Eastmont’s Body Solid Equipment and doubled my strength based on the number of plates I could move. On Eastmont’s New Step Machines I increased the duration of 3 maximum intensity intervals 3 times with complete recovery before the next interval with my heart rate staying below 120. I was surprised to see my sitting Heart Rate to be 59 with pulse oxygen of 98% and to see my pulse oxygen reach 100% during recovery. Previous to Eastmont, my heart rate was in the low 70s. An advanced stress test done 2 years ago, showed that I did not need to be concerned about exercise intensity as far as heart health. I infer that I was successful in inducing a natural bypass. However, I decline the surgery which could confirm that inference. I am working to improve my posture as I work with the Eastmont’s rehab unit since my uncle had a very curved back. It got worst during COVID 19 when we did not have classes. It is again improving. I am an introvert. Eastmont allows us to sit where we want to during our meals. It is like going to a 5-Star restaurant every day with different friends. I have a larger group of friends that make me feel like family than anytime in my life. My last bloods test showed that components for good health were in the best normal concentrations. I contribute that to the fact that I choose during the daily meal’s adequate protein and many vegetable options. I was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer in 2019. Eastmont coached me in what I could do to prepare for and minimize the effects of the clinical trials of proton radiation treatment which worked. Eastmont has aided in after treatment monitoring of PSA levels, which indicates I am cured. I plan to be active for at least 30 more years to prove it. Eastmont’s goal is to be at the leading edge of science and technology. Our managers are constantly looking for ways to do a better job for the residents. Eastmont has an excellent residence committee, suggestions for improvement are submitted to management. When the pandemic started, Eastmont got sterilization equipment to use in the health care and common areas that was used in leading hospitals. Eastmont worked with a university to conduct the first of its kind research study with the about whether IA, improves the quality of a resident’s life which I participated in and continued to use. Eastmont handled the COVID 19 very professionally by strictly following the guidelines and working with the reluctant. I joined my wife in the following pandemic activities. We made over 2,000 cloth masks and made 117 unique door hangers for families at a local homeless shelter. We will be getting our booster shots when I submit this review on 9/29/21. We are again wearing masks when we are out of our apartments. All visitors, contractors, and employees are screened and use our advanced tracking program.

The fact that Eastmont has been a non-profit for over 50 years offering Life Care with a Type A Contract which is a highest form of CCRC is huge. The income over expenses has been used to improve Eastmont’s programs and facility. When their ongoing construction is completed, Eastmont, which I consider a 5 Star facility now, will be like a 6 Star facility if I could rate it today. Average cost on the web is misleading. The cost varies with the size of the apartment you want, so you need to visit Eastmont before making financial decisions. I wish we had come earlier so we could have enjoyed Eastmont together. We had agreed Eastmont was where we wanted to live after retirement. I moved into Eastmont in 2020 after my husband passed away. Many people know of the 5 star rating of their excellent nursing staff and physical therapy department. Since moving in I have met many friendly people and made several lasting friends. I've lived here over a year. I have enjoyed the 5 Star food the chefs continue to give us daily. I have known Beth Nelsen who is the Health Care Administrator of all nursing areas such as assisted living, skilled nursing, rehab, memory care, and independent living nursing care for decades. She is fantastic and has managed the pandemic flawlessly. Eastmont has some of the equipment that are used in top rated hospitals to kill viruses. I have recovered in the rehabilitation from a bad fall off-site. Due to surgery I had to be in the Eastmont’s ReHab floor for the required days. Many new friends visited me regularly. I got flowers and many cards from my new friends. Due to my excellent care I returned to my Independent Living apartment and continued recovery exercises. I will attending the normal 3 times weekly exercise classes and have been couched on which one I should participate in. It is so nice to be on the same campus and not have to move to different sites. To be a 5 Star CCRC requires experience and excellence in all senior care activities. I give all parts of Eastmont a high 5 stars. Please visit Facebook Eastmontliving for more details.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Eastmont has been a CCRC for over 52 years. Over those years they have improved their facilities and their programs as Eastmont is a 501C. I or my children will guide my care as long as I live. I had visited four other independent living retirement facilities and the main reason I decided on Eastmont was the continuous care they provide. I learned first-hand the quality of that care in December of 2020 when I had a great amount of pain from the back of my knee to the heal of my left leg. I visited the nurse (there are nurses’ stations in all of Eastmont’s buildings) and she contacted Mark, our director of Rehab. Services. He suggested I see my doctor right away as the pain might be a blood clot. Mark was right, as after a visit to Bryan Memorial Hospital I was put on medication to help resolve the blood clot and was able to go to the fourth floor of Eastmont in an inside connected building and have rehab with Mark for the entire time it took to recover and yet remain in my apartment for the entire time, I also want to mention how helpful the entire staff at Eastmont is with every resident. I moved into a lovely apartment in March 2020.

I moved into Eastmont during the Pandemic. My experience exceeded my expectations from food to the feeling of community. I lived in the lovely town of Fremont and when I decided to move to Lincoln, I intended to purchase a Duplex or townhouse. I had to give up driving and felt sad asking friends for rides to activities. I decided to move to Eastmont and am very happy I did. I think I might have become a hermit if I hadn’t. I have met many fun and interesting new friends and I have found many previous friends that now live here too. I can go anywhere I want on the Eastmont van. I went back to Fremont for a funeral of a friend and was happy to say that “I was going home” when I returned to Eastmont. I am comforted to know that I will have lifetime care without having to apply or move to another facility. I enjoy the entertainment and exercise classes and I have a lovely large apartment with a cute bird feeder attached to my window looking out over a beautiful large tree. There are many varied activities going on at Eastmont. I enjoy the delicious meals where I often sit with different Eastmont friends.

I visited this facility

I toured Eastmont Senior Living. I looked at the assisted living. I checked in to the memory care but the problem with that one was, due to COVID, they lost their funding, so they weren't gonna have the memory care. My mom has Alzheimer's, so eventually she'll be in memory care. Right now my dad can handle her there in assisted living together. Eastmont lost their funding to the memory care, that's why we didn't do that one. Those rooms were really dark, very dark. Just so depressing. The staff was great and the facility was nice. Everything, but the room and the facility was nice. I saw the cafeteria and it was real nice. The dining room was really pretty, it was great. It was maybe more expensive for what you got. The facility itself, was very nice and clean, but the rooms were old and dark. They were renovating. I think it's gonna be real nice.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

The staff at Eastmont Towers were very nice. I've heard good things about them and mom felt comfortable there. We were comfortable with the staff. The facility is clean and cheery. The rooms are very good. She happens to be in a private room so that makes it much nicer. My mom seems to like the food and they have a lot of activities for her to get involved in.
