I chose Sylvia G Thompson Residence Center for my husband. I toured the memory care section of it. It was clean and it smelled good, and it had ample staffing. It was beautiful. There were plants and an atrium, and the rooms were clean. The staff during the tour was professional and compassionate. They had a beauty salon, a garden patio, an indoor atrium, and a walking track. They have a private room for the memory care section and they're small groups like five to each little pod and there were three pods. They talked about arts, exercise using a ball, puzzles, arts, light exercise, and just keeping them moving. I like the private room and the compassion and the way that the staff was interacting with other patients that were there.

This place is the most depressing center I have ever seen! If my Uncle was alive I swear he'd be cussing like a sailor and bringing my Aunt home!! I am concerned about the nurses and nursing aids who take care of the residents. The food is awful, the car is about 40%, as a retired nurse, trust me: Those residents would be treated most kindly!!! The facility seems dark, cold, and depressing! Just not a nice place.

I toured Sylvia G Thompson Residence Center, and I didnt like the facility. It was dark, it had 120 beds, and the patients didn't seem like they were getting the care they needed. The staff was good, they showed us all the highlights; however, the rooms were shared, and it was an old place. It was not what we were looking for my mom.

Sylvia Thompson's physical therapy staff did wonders for my mom. My mom is better than she has been in decades since leaving that program. They have a nice spacious therapy room, and the team gave her a lot of attention. They helped her a great deal. My mom's room was spacious, clean, and very nice. However, they got people in there that didn't fit in. Because of the way they're staffed, I would give them a two. Their staff was terrible. The first morning I went there to greet my mom, the med tech took the syringe out to give her a shot. The syringe had a protective cap on it and she just put it in her mouth and pulled the cap off with her teeth. It gave my mom a shock. It was unbelievable. The food was terrible too.

My father is in the new wing of Sylvia G Thompson Memory Care Unit. It is beautiful and the residents are well cared for and treated like Kings and Queens. They have three quads with 5 rooms in each quad. The rooms are large and beautiful. Each quad has it's own big screen TV in their livingroom, dining room, small kitchenette. They are very pretty. Each quad also has it's own CNA 24/7. They have activities daily, and carry in dinners once a month. They try to keep the residents moral very upbeat. It is a wonderful place for your family who has Alzheimers.
