I have neighbor and friends at Shady Lawn, in the past 8 months. They love it, their rooms are decorated the way the want. The staff is quick on the call light, they are pleasant, they do screen visitors, and they seem to really care about their residents. The food is good per my 3 friends. My biggest concern is their parking is horrible. But it was clean, doesn't have any smell like some homes do. The residents enjoy bingo and games with play money to buy items. They have a wonderful enclosed courtyard. Residents have transportation when they need it. This is all I am aware of at this time.

My 90yr + mother existed here a couple years ago before dying there. She had fallen over three times while a resident, the last broke her hip. This place was filthy. They lost her false teeth and glasses. Getting somebody to feed her was like pulling teeth. Mom was here not by choice. I was informed she had a $50 month allowance. Where did she go to spend that money being confined to bed? Never did I see anyone in the front office.

The experience that I had was terriable. The place smelled of urine and dirt. The staff was oblivious to the call lights that were going off. They seemed that all they wanted to do was stand around at the nurses station. When they helped him from his chair to his bed, the aides ended up stepping on and pulling out his cathetor and then tried to say he pulled it out himself. My grandfather may have been old, but he was still in his right mind. To be treated as if he was no one really hurt. They should be ashamed of themselves.
