The residents at Oak Pointe of Maryville come from different backgrounds and life experiences. With Maryville being an agricultural community, we have several farmers, as well as professors, home makers, engineers, and other professionals. Our residents typically come to us from Maryville and the surrounding areas, usually within 30 miles of our community, although we’ve had several relocate from out-of-state. Currently, our average age is 80.

We have a diverse and active activity program based on the recreational (bingo, games, parties and outings), cognitive (trivia, Boggle, music & coloring, etc), physical (group exercise 6 days/week), and spiritual (religious services) needs of our residents. We certainly love to have special events and invite our resident families, friends and community in regularly. We celebrate all of the holidays here with fun parties, including Mardi Gras, St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, the Superbowl, and the list goes on. We often have musical performances come in to entertain the residents and enjoy outings during the holiday season to various points of interest in the area, including Mozingo Lake Recreation Park, the casino, Conception Abbey, and more. Our goal is to enrich our residents’ lives so that they are thriving at any age!

Oak Pointe of Maryville is a pet-friendly community and we understand that our resident’s pets are family. Dogs and cats are welcome; however, must remain inside the resident’s personal apartment. All pets must be leashed when outside the resident’s apartment, in common areas, or outside on the grounds. We request that each resident and/or a family member ensure the care of the pet. Pets are not allowed in the dining rooms at any time.

Oak Pointe of Maryville keeps residents’ families informed by maintaining open lines of communication starting at the pre-admission process. We spend time learning about each resident’s individual needs and preferences and create an Individual Service Plan based on this information. This plan is reviewed on a regular basis and updated to reflect any changes. You can communicate with our leadership team at any time through phone, email or text message. At Oak Pointe of Maryville, our Director of Nursing oversees the assessment of each resident, supported by our trained caregivers. This includes monthly reviews, regular updates to individual service plans, and ongoing communication with team members and families. During the admission assessment, we establish a baseline cognitive level for each resident in the Memory Care Neighborhood. Residents are formally re-assessed upon admission, with individual plans created and updated every six months or as needed when changes are observed, ensuring that resident needs are consistently met.

Oak Pointe of Maryville provides its staff with an extensive orientation process that includes both State required training and additional training required by our community. Both new hire training and our ongoing continuing education programs include topics related to Dementia and the Cognitively Impaired, Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Infection Control, Food Safety, Confidentiality and Safeguarding of resident information, and Customer Service. Ongoing training is provided to staff through on-site in-services and online continuing education.

Oak Pointe of Maryville is not directly affiliated with any hospital, but we are located 2 miles from the regional hospital and its clinics, St Francis Hospital & Health Services. Residents may utilize the physician that makes routine rounds at our community, but they may also keep their own primary care physician of their choice.

Oak Pointe of Maryville provides staff for our Memory Care neighborhood 24-hours a day. The staffing is directly tied to the number of residents who make their home there. Oak Pointe of Maryville ensures that we meet or exceed all required staffing for our Memory Care neighborhood.

Our Activity program in Memory Care is designed to engage residents and focuses on finding ways for our residents to be successful. This is done through intentional planning of activities that the residents of Memory Care will enjoy. Common activities include Zingo, UNO, crafts, baking, balloon volleyball, community walking, spa day, pet therapy, and musical performances. We use reminiscence therapy to stimulate the residents’ long-term memories, as well as “this day in history” games and our talk and toss ball.

Oak Pointe of Maryville ensures that our caregiver-to-resident ratio meets or exceeds required State of Missouri regulations. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that each resident receives the care and supportive services they need to maximize their independence while living in our community.

Our dining program offers restaurant style dining through serving a variety of entrees primarily catering to the tastes of a midwestern population. We offer a large breakfast menu, made fresh to order, with breakfast specials throughout the week. In addition to our daily specials, our residents enjoy several options to choose from on our alternate menu including heart healthy selections such as chef salad, grilled white fish, grilled chicken, fresh fruit, etc. And of course desserts are always on the menu!

Oak Pointe of Maryville Memory Care Neighborhood is thoughtfully designed to engage residents and foster interaction with caregivers. It features dedicated "activity" stations that cater to residents who may wander or exhibit repetitive behaviors. The neighborhood includes an activities table stocked with puzzles, memory games, adult coloring materials, and painting supplies, available to residents 24/7. The open layout encourages walking and includes stations for sorting, folding, sensory stimulation, and tactile engagement. Reminiscing activities often focus on specific themes, inviting residents to share their past experiences and stimulate long-term memory.

We are on the western edge of our rural community, just south of Northwest Missouri State University and the Maryville Country Club. We are just minutes away from local shopping and downtown Maryville. Mozingo Lake Recreation Park is about 10-15 minutes away by car.

Oak Pointe of Maryville is committed to ensuring that our caregivers are provided with ongoing education and training. Upon becoming a member of our team, each staff member is provided with an extensive orientation process that includes both state required training and additional training required by our community. Resident safety and security are a priority for the Oak Pointe of Maryville team. Safety measures include sign-in and sign-out logs at the front entry, all entry and exit doors are alarmed and linked to staff pagers, and video security cameras are placed throughout the community. Our front doors are locked in the evenings until the next morning, requiring pass code or staff assistance to enter the community. All other doors remain locked at all times and require a passcode or staff assistance to gain entrance. Residents with a known history of wandering are referred to the care of our secure Memory Care neighborhood.

Resident families are kept updated about the resident’s health and Service Plan by our Director of Nursing. The Director of Nursing spends time learning about each resident’s individual needs and preferences and creates an Individual Service Plan based on this information. This plan is reviewed on a regular basis and updated to reflect any changes. Our Director of Nursing is available to communicate through phone, text or email to discuss each resident’s health and wellbeing.

At Oak Pointe of Maryville, we prioritize choice and variety in meals for each Memory Care resident. Collaborating with families, we identify individual food preferences to ensure residents enjoy nutritious, well-balanced meals that suit their tastes. Caregivers take meal orders, and residents gather in a family-style dining area to share their meals together They may also join residents during meals, providing a modeling opportunity that encourages eating. As residents progress through different stages of dementia, caregivers may suggest specific food types, such as finger foods or sweet items that are appealing. Additionally, our neighborhood Bistro offers drinks and snacks available throughout the day to further encourage residents to eat.
