My mother moved into Senior Star at Wexford Place 2 weeks ago. We chose it because of its attention to rehabilitation, its medical staff, and its programs. My mom has a single apartment and it is very well- maintained. They have a community center, an in-house rehab center, and a large lobby for visitors. They have community outreach as far as entertainment. The food is good, and there's variety. The staff is very engaging and friendly.

We toured Senior Star at Wexford Place. We loved the facilities. We love what they offer to seniors the different games, whether the workout facility, the worship facility, or the rooms. We just love this facility altogether. We looked at a one bedroom and we looked at a studio. Both of them are spacious enough for my brother. It had plenty of storage closet space. We liked the whole setup they had. Their emergency cord, we like their system where they checked off the residence, where they gave the residents their own space, but they still would just have to follow up and make sure that they were okay in their room. Amber, I absolutely love her. They offered us lunch. We did not take much, but they offered it. They gave us a box of cookies to go and I gave it to my brother. They have an indoor pool. They had an outdoor courtyard where I think they had a little pond with goldfish in it. It was peaceful, if you just wanted a peaceful rest or a peaceful view, they offered that.

Wexford was terribly understaffed when my father was there. His wife had to be there every day to assist in his care. Except for 1 or 2 caretakers, the other caretakers were terribly undertrained and not compassionate. They didn't even help the feeble residents cut their food! It was horrible. For the price that we paid, the care should have been impeccable. If you don't care how your loved one is treated, send them to Wexford. We deeply regret sending our loved one there.

We started from scratch. We needed to learn more about the program services available in a continuum of care facility for residents who had Parkinson Disease. What we learned was our tour guide exceeded our expectations. We came away with a fuller understanding of what special care residents can receive.

Senior Star at Wexford Place was the best one I've seen. The staff was very impressive. They got memory support games, patios, walking trails, and mailboxes that they put mail in. It's all laid out cool. The rooms were roomy and very nice with a Jack and Jill bathroom. I liked that. They got a full beauty salon, a general store where they can go in and purchase, and an in-house therapy dog, which I think is also very cool.

I'm in Senior Star at Wexford Place, and I don't care much for it. I have been here for a year now. I don't like their meals at all. They got a poor cook. It's not a bad place, but they just walk into your apartment every time they feel like it. I'm in a one-bedroom. If I'm in the bedroom with the TV on, and I don't hear somebody knock lightly on the door, they'll just walk going in, and I don't like that. These people don't understand what a door knocker is. There is a door knocker on every door, but they have to use their knuckles. Most of the girls just don't knock very loud. It's a solid wood door, so you got to be right next to it to hear. But I don't like just walking in my bed. This is my home. This is not assisted living; this is independent living. I don't want people just walking in and out of here whenever they feel it. The staff is all very nice except for the kitchen staff. They're always short in my order. I don't sit down in the dining room and eat, I always take mine with me, but they're always short in my order. Like if we have shrimp, they don't have a shrimp sauce in there. When we have fish, they forget to put the tartar sauce in. Sometimes you get a salad, and they forget to put the dressing in. Like the other night, they got my order completely wrong. I didn't even order what they sent me. Also, anything they bake or fry, it's overcooked. The meat is always overcooked. Chicken is as dry and has no flavor at all. They bake it too long. In my apartment, the carpentry and the plumbing are terrible. Whoever was doing this was an amateur or certainly was no professional. The doors don't fit right, and one of the burners doesn't even work. I don't even complain about that because everybody tells me it takes them forever to get there to fix it. So I don't even complain about that stuff. They've got all kinds of activities, but they're always too early. I'm a light sleeper. Sometimes I don't get up till 10:00 or 11:00. Most of the activities, they do early. I'm paying $3500 now for a one-bedroom, and I think that's way too much for what I'm getting back.

I toured Senior Star at Wexford Place. It was very nice and had lots of activities for the residents. They were having some kind of a special program where people go out on the patio. People seemed happy there. It was it was a nice facility. They didn't have any skilled level there. They gave me some fresh baked cookies as I left, and they were delicious. They had libraries and computers. They had electronic games and craft rooms. They had a lot of things for people to do and a lot of puzzles.

Senior Star at Wexford Place is a 30-year old facility, but it does not look like that. It looks well, and I actually like the layout better than others because everything seemed to be on one level. They were actually willing to show me multiple rooms thanks to their relationship with residents who were very happy to show off their rooms as well. I saw furnished and unfurnished. The ones I saw, I was very happy with. One of the reasons that it is high on our list for consideration is because of the design of the room, the location, and the facility. They were the most friendly. The also went out of their way to make us feel welcome out of all the places we toured. Their selection of food may be not as large as some other places, but they also have a snack bar area, where you could grab snacks day or night (twenty four hours). I like that for my mother.

Senior Star at Wexford Place was kind of dated. So far, the location is worse than the other place. It looks like they're trying to do some remodeling, but you open up the closets and the shelves are plastic-covered wire instead of actual shelves. It was just that the kind of thing kind of bothered me. The staff who gave the tour, I like her friendliness and interest in what I was looking for. They had called back and suggested that I could try the food if I wanted. I saw a swimming pool which needed some painting and care. I also saw their exercise room.

The manager at Senior Star at Wexford Place was very nice and informative. All the residents seemed friendly and the location was nice. They just had more stairs than what I would be comfortable with moving my grandma into. They had elevators to get around and everything, but for some of the options that they had for just the independent living side, you had to use stairs to get to them. I wasn't a huge fan of that, but it's an independent living, so I know it's not something that somebody that has trouble walking would need to be in. Otherwise, it was a wonderful location. I was really happy with it. It just came down to price. They have a library, a gym, and a swimming pool, but you can't get to the swimming pool unless you use the stairs. They also offered two meals a day, and they have a place of worship. The first room that he showed us that was in my grandmother's price range was a little on the small side. It had outdated appliances, but it still would have got the job done. I wasn't a fan of their long hallways. You have to walk a distance to get to where you're wanting to go. The floor plan for the medium room had a weird layout. As soon as you open the door, there's a wall, you either go left to get to the bedroom or go right to get to the living room and that's a one-bedroom. The larger of the one-bedrooms had a different layout, too, and that one was a lot better, but it was more expensive. The studio was too small. The smaller one-bedroom had a weird layout and the larger one-bedroom was out of our price range but it was better.

My brother is in Senior Star at Wexford Place and it's excellent. The apartments are nice, for the money. The staff is excellent, they've always been great. The location is excellent. In terms of amenities, they have the same as the others. My brother never participates in their activities. His room there is a 1-bedroom apartment and it's nice. He likes the gym, they have a weight room, and he likes the pool.

We went to Senior Star at Wexford Place. The place was very nice. The staff member who gave the tour was very nice and thorough. The dining room was complete, it had everything you needed, the place was clean, modern, and it's a large facility. They have an exercise area and they have outside facilities like a garden and sunroom, things like that.

The tour at Senior Star at Wexford Place was very good. The community relations girl was very informative, very helpful, and gave us the tour. It's a very friendly place, and I really liked it. This was before COVID started, and we had a favorable impression. We even placed a deposit on an apartment in their assisted living. We never ended up moving in, and they refunded our deposit, so they were very easy to work with. They had an open spot, and it was closer to my parent's friends and connections with their church. The apartment was a one-bedroom and it was unfurnished. They were very nice and accommodating. There was a music thing going on during the tour.

We looked at the assisted living and memory care at Senior Star at Wexford Place. It was an excellent place. There's a physical therapist. They eat in small groups, so it's more of a family kind of atmosphere. They had a lot of daily activities and social interaction. The staff was excellent. It's very clean, up-to-date, and modern.

We selected Senior Star at Wexford Place and moved my father there. We've experienced dining there, and it was like a 5-star restaurant. The food was very well-presented and well prepared. I met Nancy from the front desk and the nursing facility director, they're excellent people. For the area, it's good value for the money.

The facility offers comprehensive amenities, everything a resident needs; as well as a strong supportive sense of belonging and community. There are many opportunities for the residents to stay engaged with the staff and other residents and stay active. It is very cost effective considering what is included with the monthly fees.

My father in law moved to KC after the death of his spouse. From his first day to his last, the staff at Wexford Place has been phenomenal. They go out of their way to make the transition an easy one for the new residents. Throughout his stay, the staff was always helpful and gave us a ton of support. There was no question or issue that they would not help with, and we had some crazy stuff we needed help with. They put the people first. Unfortunately, we lost him this year. The staff was right there with us, helping us navigate through every stage and every detail. I will be forever grateful for everyone there and all the care they have to offer. I always knew my father in law had the help he needed. I love the flexibility they offer in allowing you to provide only the assistance they need to allow the residents to maintain as much independence as possible. Overall, I feel we all had a great experience with Wexford and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

My mother has lived at Wexford Place for 5 years and I am at the facility almost everyday. The staff is exceptional and truly cares for the residents that make Wexford their home. Staff members know each resident by name and in 5 years, they have maintained consistency in staffing; every staff from directors, maintenance, dining, and housekeeping. As the sole caregiver for my mom, I have reassurance that she is being well taken care of. When I have been faced with challenging situations concerning her care, I feel that I have a positive support system... they always have her best interest in my mind. I visit many senior centers in my line of work and Wexford Place by far exceeds other facilities because of consistency of staff and the level of care.

Senior Star at Wexford Place is a nice place that's a little too expensive for me. The only reason I didn't choose it is because of the cost. The place is a little confined. I hadn't paid that much attention there. Well, the staff members were very nice. They showed me around and talked to me about the place.

Assisted living was fine, but memory care was not. Help was very nice, place was nice, but they were understaffed. Several times I went in, esp. in the evening, you wouldn't see a staff member for 10+ mins. Residents falling often. After numerous falls and our 2nd serious fall, we didn't go back.

I've been here at Senior Star at Wexford Place multiple times because that's where my sister lives. It's a very nice facility. They have always been cordial to me when I've gone to see her or to see the facility. The staff members are very welcoming, nice, informative, and very helpful. I saw a 2-bedroom and a 1-bedroom. They remind me of a dorm suite because of its size. It's a 2-bedroom with a kitchenette and a bathroom. They also do memory care, and unlike most places, they have a swimming pool. They have an exercise room, and my sister said they have things like beanbag baseball. She has talked about crocheting and knitting. The food is good. Some people go The Y, and they have a bus that takes them shopping and other places. She has very poor vision and cannot drive, so they take her to eye doctor appointments. I've eaten lunch and supper there and they serve breakfast too.

The assisted living side is beautiful and well maintained. The bathrooms are large and very well equipped for wheelchairs. I think they are short staffed and not enough supervision therefore the care is not what it should be. The food does not cater to the elderly. There is nothing offered for low sodium diets. I think the focus on meals is low cost and definitely not hearty healthy.

Senior Star at Wexford Place was alright, and the price was reasonable. They offer three meals a day, and the people were nice. The facility was kind of old, and the doors were kind of hard though. My mom could have never opened those doors. They could have a better kitchen facility.

My sister is currently a resident of Wexford Place's independent-supported living side, but she doesn’t really belong there. They didn’t have room on the assisted living side, but they do everything in their power to create a homelike environment and to make you feel welcome. They have all kinds of activities and nice dinners. It is very clean and very nice. They have a pool, a library, church services that come in, a dining room, a snack room, and movies; you name it, they’ve got it.

Senior Star at Wexford Place had two apartments that were the size I wanted and had just been renovated. There wasn't a buy-in fee. They invited me for lunch, and I thought the food was fine. It had an indoor pool, and they offered me one month free. I really liked the look of the place. The people there were the kind of people I know I would be comfortable living with.

The community fee at Wexford Place was very affordable. We liked the location because it was within 15 minutes from us. I can't remember all of the different activities, but they did provide for a very active life, like going to the grocery store, having bands come in to play, holding dances for the residents, and they had a library which was really good and would be a great benefit for my father-in-law who likes to read a lot. Aesthetically, it was a beautiful place.

Senior Star at Wexford Place was an older institution that's 28 years old. The apartments that I saw were quite a bit smaller. I did have lunch there that was really good -- I have confidence saying that. They had Caesar salad in a pita pocket, and it was very good. There was an exercise room with equipment and a decent-sized pool, which was open all of the time with water aerobics in the morning.

I am very displeased with the food that they are giving these people that pay ALOT of money every month to get a sandwich and cold after tots for lunch. This is totally unacceptable. The menu is getting worse day by day . The service in the cafeteria is slacking and it needs improvement. They cook only prepackaged garbage. This is not the food we were shown prior to moving my parents in this place . They need to fix it . And fix it soon. Real soon ,!!! Why feed these people food that they can fix in their apt themselves ?

We looked at Wexford Place (Senior Star at Wexford Place). It was very nice, but a little more expensive, and the rooms were smaller. It was more modern-looking. It was very bright, cheerful and clean. However, at the other facility, they have three meals a day included in their cost, and in Wexford Place, they only have two.

My parents are at Wexford Place. My first impression of it was that it was very nice. My dealings with the staff have been great. They have always gone out of their way to help me. My parents are in a one-bedroom with a small kitchen and a living room. It has a screened-in balcony that looks out onto a courtyard. I had Thanksgiving dinner with my parents, and the food was fine. I don't normally eat there, but my parents seem to like the food. As for activities, they have the Red Hatters. My parent does the Wii bowling. Overall, for me, the staff stands out to me for this community.

My father is doing well at Wexford Place. I choose it because I already knew about them; I have been there before. They opened a new section, which is assisted living and memory care. I have been there, and they are just the best place for my dad. The staff is excellent. One thing that I love is that they have activities there like bingo and beanbag toss, and they go out to eat. They do a lot of things, and one of the things I do like is on Friday evening, they have movie night. They had a room set up that actually looked like a movie theater. They had popcorn in the whole nine yards. They had a beauty/barber shop in there.

I fell in love with Wexford Place when I visited it. I felt like I wanted to move in. The staff that is working there are very caring, kind, and friendly. The food was wonderful and excellent. They had a great chef. My mom and I stayed there in a two bedroom apartment. The fact that they let me stay there for two nights and three days for free to check it out, the facility was indeed great.

Senior Star was OK. It was an older facility, about seven floors. The building is shaped like a heart, which is kind of cool. They had good food. The people there were excellent. It was the only place that had a swimming pool. They had a rest home type of facility, but it was across the street. Their apartments were large, the ones I looked at. Mom and Dad really liked Senior Star because it was just a happy place. They were very accommodating and very nice. People that were there seemed to like being there.

I liked the fact that when you walked in Senior Star, there was sign that said "Welcome To Wexford Place" with my first name on it. So everybody knew that this person walking around looking lost was me. I thought they were very friendly. They had an inside pool. I felt like that it was very good for senior citizens. They redecorated it, so it was all fresh and nice. I was impressed with it. I even met the maintenance persons and the housekeeping staff, and I thought that was a nice gesture. It was not like you had to wonder who was going to be doing what. It spoke to me of the values and so forth that the management team had. Their food was wonderful. They had a chef, and he made terrific meals, and he always had some kind of food available, like maybe a sandwich or something of that sort. As a nice touch, they sent me home from my visit with a little sack of cookies that he had made.

Wexford Place seemed to be more of a family run facility and I like the family that runs it. The independent living area has been exceptional. It has gotten rave reviews for many people. I have friend whose mother is in there and she said that the staff were beyond helpful. When I went there, it's almost like a cruise ship. It had lots of lights and the dining room is almost like a restaurant. This is a brand new facility as far as the memory care. It's not even open yet, but I saw that they have large rooms and they have the bed and the side table included so all you would need would be dresser or a vanity table. They have shared bathroom between two rooms or they have single rooms. They have a swimming pool, a wonderful walking gardens, and sun rooms in the building. I was just hoping mom would be happy there when she moves in. I would highly recommend this facility.

I did visit Wexford Place. It is a very nice community. I like that place. For one thing, their artworks on the wall are great. They have the best artworks that I have ever seen. Outside is equally nice. They have a water garden pond which you can actually go and fish if you want to. They also have a nice swimming pool. What I don't like about this place is that there is an assigned seating arrangements for their residents and if they have to go some place outside the facility, they have to sign out and when they come back, they have to sign in. I don't like that.

My mom is a resident of Senior Star since April. We found this place in the internet. It is a very nice facility. It is upscale place for a good cost. They have an indoor swimming pool. The location is good because it is close to where I live. The price is reasonable compared to the other places. Their staff is really great. They actually drove over to my house to bring me information about the place. They made it more personal through that way. Overall, everything is great with my mom staying in Senior Star.

I thought the people managing Wexford Place are kind, very benevolent, very helpful, and very supportive. They understood my problems and offered tremendous amount of support and help, even physical and financial help. I'm in a small 1-bedroom, but it's quite adequate. The food is excellent. It also had a lot of different places that we can go.

The Wexford Place in Kansas City was in the same vicinity where we were visiting the area to look at possible places for our aunt to live. We liked that it was close to everything that Kansas has to offer -cultural events, medical care, and many other places to visit and enjoy. The facility looked like it was well tended - the grounds were neat. The interior had a nice décor and seemed welcoming. The interior communal rooms were all nicely kept and decorated. The staff was friendly and attended to all of the residents well. In fact, they all went out of their way to see that the seniors were as active as possible, engaging them in conversation and encouraging them to participate in socializing and physical activity. Some of the many activities and outings included local sight seeing, group discussions, musical events, local shopping, seminars, celebrations and parties, games and other gatherings. The residents are encouraged to enjoy the exercise classes such as yoga and aerobics, or use the weight training and other equipment. They may also safely use the walkways around the building and courtyard areas. Dining options included many great looking dishes on the menu. The residents are offered healthy, home-style cooked meals in a casual restaurant setting. Snacks are offered and available any time requested. The private areas were nicely decorated and personalized for the residents and it was clear that they enjoyed their surroundings a great deal. We could see that the residents are treated with care, kindness and respect so that they are very well cared for at all times. Care is provided as necessary and adjusted to each individual.
