My father-in-law was at Nhc Healthcare, Joplin. You're not allowed inside the place, so you'd have to get to a window and wave and just kind of talk to them through a window. You're never able to get inside because of COVID. The facility looked fine. The outside looked good. He had Parkinson's so bad that he had hallucinations and he had dementia, so at times he didn't know who we were and he was sleeping a lot. Peeking through a window there's not a whole lot you can tell, but they did their job. If something happens to me, my wife is supposed to take me there, too. It felt like a rest home. It didn't have a locked community. You have isolation prior to going in there, so you don't get to visit nobody. You have the option of having your own private room, too. I think he received the care he needed.

I had a family member who was staying in this facility. On several occasions over a period of months I went to visit him, and saw around the grounds. I was overall impressed with the level of cleanliness, even during and after meals. A lot of the flooring was tile, which I feel just makes it easier to keep clean versus carpeting. I have been in other assisted living buildings and this one just had a better atmosphere. The residents generally seemed to be in good spirits, as did the staff. On 2 occasions there was actually a staff member who was playing various Wii games with several of the residents, who seemed to be enjoying it quite a lot. There were several large TVs that seemed to be getting quite a bit of attention from residents, plus there were several staff doing various crafts that had several people sitting around trying their hand at. The only real complaint I can have with the place is the quantity of residents. The place really is overcrowded, quite a few people end up sleep 3-4 per room. I never heard anyone living there complain about it, but it did seem more crowded that I would have liked. When talking to my family member about the place, he seemed to really enjoy his time there. Before staying there he lived by himself for many years and just being around lots of other people and getting to interact with them seemed to cheer him up a lot.

I am very pleased with this provider due the fact that my mom is happy with them. The activities program is very patient friendly program which includes as many residents as possible to participate in the activities. The residents really enjoy the activities. They also have a very thorough and motivated physical therapy department along with other rehabilitation services that they have to offer. Such as, speech therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, and a great medical nutritional therapy program. This facility has a very caring staff and enjoy taking care of the residents. The staff are very helpful and dedicated to go that extra mile to achieve the residents needs and happiness. I am also happy with the visiting hours because visitors are welcome any time. I usually visit my mom on Saturdays and we usually sit and watch the birds in aviary while chatting about the activities and events that she has participated in for the week.
