My father is actually in the rehabilitation wing at Jefferson City Manor because he fractured his back when he fell out. The facility is excellent. They're very well kept with their grounds. Their building is clean. They actually are a smaller place and all on one level. They're 100 percent hands on at this point with him. They have rehabilitation. The staff is excellent. They have to move him from the bed to the chair, to the wheelchair, to the bathroom, or the showers. They change his clothes daily. The food is well-balanced and good. They had a DJ come in the other day, and he participated in that. They do have all kinds of activities. They have something daily, and they do post what activities they have going on. His room is smaller. He has a bed or recliner, a couple of chairs, and a table. The closets are big and ample for storing his clothes.

My son was a resident of Jefferson City Manor Care Center. It's not very prepossessing from the outside, but I would rate it a four inside. When he went there, I couldn't even go visit him, because they weren't letting visitors come to the nursing homes at that time. So, that was hard. I just had to have faith that he was going to get good care and he did. I was particularly impressed with the medical care he got because he had some serious issues, and they were really on top of things and did a good job. I was very much impressed with their staff. They kept me abreast of what was going on; and when he had a problem or issues, I always heard from them. I thought they did a good job. They were very forthcoming and supportive of him and helpful to me. I had a feeling that I had some clue as to what was going on, and how are you doing, and so on. I rarely give the top number.

This is not a good facility. My father went here to have some rehab after he was discharged from the hospital. On his second day there, he became sick with diarrhea and did not feel good. He reported this to the staff, and it was a day later before they gave him some medicine. They also gave him a water pill everyday, even when he told them it was only as needed. They continued to argue with him about this medicine. After 4 or so days, my father called me in the middle of the night and said he was extremely sick and that his diarrhea had no stopped. He also mentioned that his blood sugar had been in the 50's several times and they would give him some milk and graham crackers. He stated he was very weak and wanted to go to the hospital because they would not do anything to help him. A nurse called him to explain that he wanted to go to the hospital. She stated that she was looking in his records and there was only one mention of him having diarrhea. The nurse explained that the day shift had not been charting information concerning my dad's illness. He was taken to the hospital and wasn't in good condition when he got there. He was extremely dehydrated and there was problems trying to get his blood sugar stabilized. My father was in the rehab area of this nursing home. Most people go to this area after being released from a hospital to help they get their strength back before going back home. These people are competent and know what's going on. I feel sorry for the actually nursing home residents who cannot speak for themselves. There is no telling what they are going through.

I visited Jefferson City Manor Care Center, and it was under construction, which was a little distracting. It wasn't anything they did wrong. The rooms were adequate. I liked best the staff. They were attentive, kind, and knowledgeable. It just wasn't real conducive to taking my mother there.

My mother-in-law is in Jefferson City Manor Care Center. My wife chose it because of the location. My daughters and my wife are impressed with the attitude of the people and the helpfulness. I think the room is typical for a nursing home.
