We looked at The Rose House. That was my favorite of all of them because it had high ceilings and bright lights. The lighting was good, and so that was nice. It was very appealing and homey. It was reasonable. I think it was like $2,500 for the month, and I didn't think that was too bad. The other thing was we had an aunt who spent her last days there, and they were very happy with it. We visited with the main staff. She took us into a couple of the rooms to show us what they were like. Then one of the residents there followed us down, and we just had a very pleasant visit with her. Those rooms are not big. They might have a bedroom and a kitchenette-living room area. However, if you have to be somewhere with small rooms, it would be nice to have high ceilings, so that's the thing there. They have 26 rooms and they're not a big place, either. The staff was very, very good. She said that they were hoping to build another one. The only disadvantage with that particular place is you have to go up a hill-type driveway to get to parking. Then if you have a vehicle yourself, you would have to park it at the back, and they would have to bring it around because there's just not a lot of room on that corner.

I have been evicted! I am 83 years old. I moved in to the rose house 1 week and 1 day ago. If you care for your mother then do not bring her here. They do not serve much food, they are rude, they threatened me today because “John” who says he is the owner, said I am not smiling enough and not talking to the other residents and he will kick me out. Guess what? 5 hours later he gave me an eviction notice! How horrible. 1 week and 1 day after moving in. Plus they have over charged me $200 on the rent. They said they just made a mistake on the lease. So STAY AWAY from here if you love your mom.

No dietician on staff. Balanced meals are not served, and dietary restrictions are not considered. According to most residents, food is not that good. Beth the manager is not a nice person. She can be downright hateful with not only residents but family as well. They do play bingo and have prizes. They do crafts on occasion as well. They have very few amenities, the laundry is done, and rooms are cleaned, linens changed. Rooms only have microwave and full size refrigerator, with small kitchen sink. Residents are limited on what food they can prepare in their rooms. The rooms are small, the bedroom is divided from the main room with just a closet/wall. No door. The bathroom is very nice with fully accessible accommodation. Location, right in the heart of Branson, traffic can be very heavy near the Rose House. Travel to store and Dr. appointments can be difficult.

Rose House is a small privately-owned place. It's owned by a couple of older folks that worked in nursing care and assisted living. They built this place basically to give people an economical alternative to independent living. It's only has about 23 units. The rooms that we saw were very nice, although they don't have the amenities that other places we saw had. They have a small library, the place was very clean, and relatively new. Since there are only 23 units, I don't think they have like an activity director or some of that stuff, like planned activities. But it was nice, and the people there said that the food was very good. It was definitely pretty high on our list because of the cost.
