My uncle was at Bedford Care Center Of Marion for a week. It was an older facility, but it was clean. It was a very nice place, and the people were extremely helpful. I didn't have any complaints during the time that he was there. They took very good care of him and cleaned him up well. They were attentive to his needs, bathed him, and helped him eat. So, we were pleased with them.

We kept our grandfather at Bedford Care Center of Marion. I didn't like this place. They didn't communicate well with us. His room didn't stay very clean. We were planning on moving him to another facility, but he passed away. They didn't do what they were supposed to do as far as his physical therapy. They just weren't very nice. They didn't even let us know that just about everybody in there had COVID and we went in there and we caught COVID. He did a few little games, Play-Doh, and checkers. I think that's about all he did. He wasn't able to do too much. He didn't like the food. All he did was stay in his room and played checkers and wrote in his puzzle books. The food wasn't good. Things outside his room looked good, but they didn't keep his room too clean.

My90-year-old mother was a patient at Bedford for one week in 2011. She was there for physical therapy and rehabilitation after an illness. We researched the nursing homes in the area by asking nurses, doctors, and friends who had personal experience before choosing Bedford. My mother got horrible care, as did many of the patients on her wing of the facility. I have two sisters who live here in town, and one of us was with her from about 9am until after 10pm. We witnessed her care first hand. They didn't get her out of bed until nearly lunch. Even though she was capable of using a potty seat, they insisted on putting her in a diaper, then left her in the soiled diaper for hours. They ignored her when she called for the nurse. I informed the physical therapist that my mother had not been able to stand for several years. I told her that we had no illusions that my mother was going to walk out of there, we just wanted to get her strong enough to help us help her. The therapist kept making her stand during therapy and my mother pulled a muscle in her shoulder trying to comply. They gave her no pain medication or treatment for over 24 hours, even though I made them aware of her injury. At that point, we brought her home before they could do more damage.
