My grandfather was transferred to George Regional Health and Rehab after suffering a bad fall that caused brain bleeds. While under the care of the facility he had another fall. We were not informed of the fall until my aunt noticed a bandage on his arm the next day. My aunt demanded him be taken to the ER where they found that his brain bleed was worsened by the fall. He had to be transferred to mobile infirmary. During this time we were also informed that he had been taken off of medications he had been on for 20+ years without consulting his neurologist that he sees for his Parkinson’s disease or his cardiologist. My aunt, who has power of attorney over him, was not informed of him being taken off either. If my aunt wouldn’t have noticed his arm he could have died. Please beware before you have a loved one admitted here.

My mother’s in George Regional Health, and they’ve been great. The rooms are nice. I don’t really have any complaints about any of the rehabilitation, other than the financial part. They’re not a business office at the rehab, so we've been in limbo about how long my mother’s going to be able to stay there. She’s under Medicare, they’re just trying to figure out how long she can stay there. Her evaluation as part of her rehab is the only other thing that we really had trouble with or questions about. We just have to ask when things come up. This is our first time going through this, and there’s not really a lot of direction to follow. There needs to be some kind of follow up on her status. They’re connected to the George County Hospital, which is very convenient. She doesn’t have to leave the facility; they just roll her on a stretcher to the emergency room, and the emergency room makes the determination as to what’s wrong with her, then puts her in ICU for two days. Instead of going out in the weather to be transferred, they've made it very convenient.
