They are not equipped to care for an Alzheimer's patient -- they do not have enough people to care for an Alzheimer's patient because they require more attention sometimes than just other people that are there for other things. But my husband still has a place there, and if they cannot find him another place before Monday, he will go back to the Care Center. His room is still there, and everything he left is still there. They are wonderful down there. When they tried to engage him in something to keep his mind busy, the nurses will bring him and let him sit in the director and social worker's offices, and they will give him a piece of paper and tell him that they got work for him to do. They don't have to do that -- that is beyond what their job is -- but they had been so kind to him, and he is a handful, but he is also an Alzheimer's patient and they are just doing what they have to do for him. It is a very clean facility. There is no odor of any kind, it is neat, and they do a good job of what they do.

I would give Comfort Care a 5 star rating because of the attentive nurses and the clean and pleasant facility, but I am only giving 2 stars as the result of the management. I'll be polite and not give the name i've seen on her badge and just say it also has Director of Nursing on her badge. I have witness multiple times where she would be fussing out nurses in front of not only other nurses but also everyone else that is present in the hallway VERY loud and harshly. Two times i've actually seen the nurses start crying as a result. I don't go every day, so I can't imagine how often this goes on. That's bad leadership skills and will only eventually bring down the nurses attitudes and eventually the reputation of the nursing home as a result. I think the management here needs a lot of leadership training.

i love my grandmother very much as does everyone in my family. at the time of her admission she was active and talikng a lot. over time like other residents i've noticed she has not only become very lethargic and wheelchair bound but very depressed acting. i notice other residents come in and become the same way almost like they stay medicated to the point of submission. the staff (not all) are very friendly to the families but have noticed once the family member walks off the begain gossiping about them. this is not very professional. a few weeks ago after my weekly sunday visit i noticed a wheezing in my grandmothers chest, this alarmed me because the same thing happened several months before and turned into pneumonia and she had to be rushed to the icu. so i told them about the wheezing they said would give her a breathing treatment which i was thankful and left. i was notified later in the week of her being rushed to icu because of the same. it was gone undetected or neglected to this point again. i feel this place is very clean and pretty to look at but this is just a facade. until they get more caring and trained people here i would not recommend this place to anyone and if i had power of attorney over her she would not be anywhere near this place. i feel like the powers in charge there think of the helpless residents are just machines that produce money.

Comfort Care Nursing Home in Laurel, MS is a great place for you loved ones who can no longer care for themselves, if you have the money for a private nurse. Not only is the staff uncaring, it is incompetent. The nurses neglect patients needs such as bathing and turning to avoid bed soars. The management staff has failed to secure a full time staff of physicians, which means that the patients are not getting the proper attention from Doctors. The food is decent enough in terms of sustenance, but the chef takes advantage of the fact that many of the residents will not complain or if they do, the complaints will not result in any action. Finally, do not allow valuables to be kept in the rooms of the residents because they will certainly turn up missing. For the money that this facility charges, it is an understatement to say that it is not worth it. If you can afford the fees and what it costs to have a private nurse for your loved one, it is not as bad. However, with the rising costs of healthcare in a bad economy, not too many people fall into that category. Bottom line, find an alternative.
