My mom is at Good Samaritan Society - Stillwater. It's 24-hour daycare. There's someone there all the time. There's a lot of involvement by the nurses. My mom has to have a lift to get her into the bathroom. She doesn't have a small wheelchair, but they have one of these bigger ones, which is nice. She dozes off on it instead of lying in bed. She likes that tall back wheelchair that's comfortable and adjustable. Their nurses are good, but they're a little slow once in a while. My mom loves the food. She had said time and time again that the food is great except for one time with her dementia. She said she had hotdogs every day. In her mind, she is having a hotdog every day for a week for which she wasn't. I have tasted the food and the food is good. They give little desserts that are good. They get pudding, Jell-O, cake, or pie. My mom loves her pie. Family members can go and sit by the table when a loved one is eating especially my mom because she needs assistance with her food as far as cutting it up and using the fork. There are a few areas that they could improve. It is so expensive there. You can't get Medicare when you're there. One of the big things that my mom likes at Good Samaritan, there are church services twice a week. One might have been a Lutheran one and the other one was probably Catholic. The staff is good with my mom. They know her; they call her Shirley. I praised them because they kept my mom safe during that COVID time and they made sure that everyone got their shots as needed with COVID. The other thing is they have a doctor that comes around to see them, but they also have a nurse practitioner that does a lot of visits. They have regular nurses and then they have nursing assistants. My mom is not able to walk, so they put her in a lift type of thing for her shower. She does get a shower and her hair washed. It always looks like they comb her hair, and they make it look nice. She is always well-kept, and they help her get dressed. However, they have a hard time keeping and getting people to work there. That's another thing, but they have adequate staff for what they're doing. My mom always gets her meal in her room when she wants it, otherwise, they get her down there. They do a good job. It's a big place. They aren't at full capacity only because they can't get enough people to work, and I think that's a direct result of COVID. To me, peace of mind is priceless. We don't have to worry about her.

The rooms are spacious and kept clean. The bathroom is large but doesn't have a private shower. Everyone uses a shower far from their room. you can only get one shower a week. The floor of the shower room needed scrubbing it was dirty. A wonderful minister stops by regularly to visit. He is fun to talk to and a very interesting reverend. The staff is undermanned ever enough help. They are pulled in every direction. Nights areunderstaffed. They can not hear patients calling for helpas they are in closed room that is glassed in. Their Therapy staff is wonderful. They push you to accomplish and meet goals to get you back on your feet and prepare you to return to your home. I would return to them if needed.

I have visited on numerous occasions. The staff tries their best, but they are understaffed, especially on the weekends. Therefore, staff does not answer the call-buttons of patients for a very long time. Management appears to want to cut corners, and make more of a profit by not employing enough staff. The food is not tasty. They simply warm up prepackaged food in the microwave and serve premade salads out of a jar. Like a bean salad from someplace like Costco. I do think the staff does it best, but management does not, which is unacceptable at these prices.

My friend has been here for some time, and likes Good Samaritan's helpful, caring staff, the activities, and the food. She has a nice room, excellent nursing and medical care for some fairly complex issues, and I am very pleased with the level of professionalism. Staff consistently go above and beyond to be sure she's comfortable and happy. All the rooms are private, which is very nice, and she has made other friends here who go to activities with her. We have lunch together here sometimes and I like the food and service also.

My father was in Good Samaritan Society - Stillwater. They're all kind of sitting around unattended in their wheelchairs in the dayroom and just kind of zoned out or sleeping sitting up. The TV was really loud and it was hot in there and it smelled funny, like an old lady's perfume that's really strong, so the air quality wasn't good. They're way understaffed. They had a little button for my dad to push and when they're supposed to come and help him with whatever he needed, it was 15 to 20 minutes usually before somebody would get there. They screwed up on his food too. They should have been giving him clear food like broths for liquid diet, instead they gave him a sandwich and it raised all kinds of trouble with his belly. It was just not a good situation at all there.

I would highly recommend viewing their inspection reports on MN. Health Dept web site BEFORE you place a loved one in this facility. Once you read the past inspection reports, this will cement the issues for you at this facility. The nursing staff is rude , and disrespectful toward family members who ask questions about a plan of care for their family member .They overmedicated my grandmother. She also developed a UTI, while staying there. The Dr. at he facility& Nursing Practitioner changed her med's without talking to my grandmother's healthcare agent. The food was always cold. The only positive I can say is the PT Dept was great.

I found the staff completely accomodating and welcoming to both residents and visitors. The room I was in with my family members had several nurses come and check on things several times which was helpful and reassuring at the same time. The nurses and attendants appear to be fully qualified as they asked several questions and took simple tests on the resident to make sure they are healthy and able to reside freely and contently on their own without having to be worried constantly about their health. The building and rooms were clean and friendly. They provided many things in order to make it look like a home and environment to easily adapt to as the transition between self-maintenance and other care can be quite hard. In my personal experience, my family member was extremely resistant in moving to a facility as their stubbornness to continue living on their own was present, however once they were settled in they now love and respect the decision we made.
