My grandmother just got into a nursing home right here in town where she lives. It's the Good Shepherd Lutheran Services in Rushford. They definitely are personal with the residents. They don't just treat the disease or whatever's wrong with them, they treat their personal interests as well. The staff seems very knowledgeable about what they're doing and they seem really dedicated to the residents. The facility is pretty nice. It would be someplace I would want to go when I get older. It's a good location. It's kind of on top of a hill with really pretty views outside the windows. My grandmother doesn't participate in the activities, but they definitely have a very good activities director. They do bingo and have prizes too. They do movie nights too, so the activities are very good.

My sister-in-law has a room there and she receives excellent care. She was in Caledonia where her care was also good, but she started not caring for herself after stools. Then she required more care that they could give. So she came to Rushford and has received wonderful care. She can get quite cranky, but they continue to treat her gently and lovingly. I highly recommend Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.

Mom is in Good Shepherd Lutheran Home. I had one instance when my mom would call a lot and say she's cold. I knew she had two brand new blankets down there, but when I went to check, all she had was one of those little cotton type sheet. The food is good but she also called me one morning and said she was hungry. Sometimes I think they need more staff because it didn't seem like the staff knew what the cleaning people do. I also don't understand their billing. My mom can't be in a semi-private room because she has dementia. But what they do is they send a bill for a semi-private room for the insurance company. I got frustrated after three months. I don't know how much their actual bill is. They still charge a private room on the billing, but my mom doesn't have to pay for it. I want them to be able to get help. If they've done the same way of bookkeeping for years and years, maybe they need to have somebody to give them new ideas.

The staff is a lot more friendly at Bremmer Suites. It's small, and they don't have as many patients. I think it's a wonderful place. I enjoyed staying down there all the time. Julie who, works during the day was awesome. Samantha, the one who takes care of everything is really good. The place is excellent. It's clean and the food is really good. They tell you exactly and explain the billing.
