The outside of Highland Senior Living looks like a mansion, as opposed to a motel. We liked that, as it seemed a bit more homey than some others we visited. Little Falls is around 85 miles outside of Minneapolis, Minnesota. It's a lovely, safe community and there are some nice restaurants and other activities in the area, which is good for visiting. We decided to check out the facility, since we were in the area to visit a relative. We had been searching for a place for our grandmother to live. The great room had some very nice furniture and adornments on the walls, a cozy fireplace and a beautiful china cabinet. The living room featured a nice sofa, chairs and a large table. The private dining room looked like it would work for visits really nicely. The sitting area had nice chairs in a circle, which encourages interaction. The coffee shop was really cute and inviting. We tried some food there that was really wonderful. The private rooms we saw were all spacious and easy to navigate, with several different layouts of one and two bedroom apartments. The social activities include a daily check in system which we really liked, with home health services. The planned activities feature everything from seeing films to going to church. In addition to the standard assisted living services, they also have memory care. This is important to us, since our grandmother has trouble remembering sometimes due to some short term memory loss. Overall, this is a lovely facility, however, we decided that at around 85 miles from the city, it is too far for all of us to visit easily.
