My mom is at Field Crest Assisted Living. I chose it because it is close to me. It's excellent. There is a community kitchen or lunch room, so they all get fed in one area there in their wing. The food is excellent. The staff members are great. They always make sure my mom has everything she needs. They help her. The physical condition of the facility is very good. The rooms are clean and not overly large, but you don't need them that big for a single person. They have a small garden where they grow some vegetables, they have activities and exercises, they have art projects, exercises, bingo, sing-a-long, and church services. I really like it. The staff has been really good. Food is very good, too. For us, the facility is perfect.

Field Crest Care Center is a nursing home in a small midwest town. Many of the staff live in the same community. I spent many hours at Field Crest visiting a family member over a 6 month period from 2009-2010. I witnessed extreme care and compassion on the part of each staff member. They never passed my relative without speaking to her, visited her room often, and always showed up within a short time of her requesting service. Since she was completely unable to transfer from bed to wheel chair, there were several times per day when someone had to do that for her. She, also, was a smoker which meant that someone had to prepare her to go outside in the winter with proper dress and a flame retardant apron, had to help her light her cigarettes, and, then, stay with her until she was ready to go back to her room. Meals were good, everyone was clean, there were no unpleasant odors, and, when she realized that her physical condition would not allow her returning to her home, she began to enjoy her stay. She passed away in the facility and several members of the staff attended her funeral.
