Crookston Minnesota facility: The rooms are well kept, clean and safe. My mother-in-law enjoys most all of the food here and in fact the only complaint is that she gets too much :) The staff is professional and friendly and well trained, from the administrative to nurses, dining and housekeeping. We have visited almost every day for the last 6 weeks and everything has been very welcoming, we are all very impressed.

My grandfather was in the Alzheimers unit. Staff were always cheerful and the common area is expansive. They have bird cages, which my grandfather enjoyed a lot. I heard good things about the food though I never tried it myself. My grandfather's room was a small, single-bedroom that was always tidy and they allowed him to have his piano. He was encouraged to play it rather frequently too. Visiting was made fairly simple, they had instructions on how to get in and out of the unit posted that were obvious to visitors but not obvious to the residents. My dad said that the plan of care meetings went well and that people were thorough. Our whole family felt good about the unit when we learned that one of the staff member's mother was living there too--we figured no one would know what that place was like better than the staff, so it must be good if they had their own family living there. My grandfather did pass away there and I was grateful that they had kept us up to date on his status so that I was able to see him again right before he went. All and all my experience with them has been very positive.

The staff were all very nice. My great grandmother was still 'all there' mentally, and she never complained about the treatment. They have a nice apiary there, with all kinds of birds and information about the birds, for the residents. They also have one large dining area with a piano, and the staff were more than happy to let me play the piano while visiting. They also have smaller visiting areas, which were great for all of us to play cards when we were visiting. The resident rooms weren't anything spectacular, but they weren't terrible either. They did have everything a person in a wheelchair needed to use the bathroom and shower on their own. The facility is old, and some of the colors and decor are dated, but it's not dirty or creepy.
