This is a very nice facility, spacious, clean and modern. The management has been a problem for years and it probably won't get better. They have a new administrator, but the tri-county board is only concerned about money, so she will not be able to improve resident care either. The board does not want to hear about issues with resident care, the only option is to file a complaint with the state. Most nurses and CNAs are good, but there are a few CNA's who neglect patient care. The director of nursing is the worst person to deal with, it is her way or nothing. She would not even agree to a care plan when 3 doctors, 2 from the facility, were recommending it. If you have a relative here I encourage you to visit when they least expect you so you see what is really going on. Activities is very good when they are left to do activities and not be CNAs. It appears they stopped forcing activities to feed patients as they are not qualified to do that.

My mom is in Pinecrest Medical Care Facility. We chose this because they accept Medicaid and also because it is a clean nursing home. The staff is vey good. My mom is in a room and she is comfortable there. She has a TV and bathroom.

Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers, MI is a very impressive place. I have been to other local facilities, but this is the only place that the environment felt warm and inviting. The staff was extremely friendly and caring, which I believe is because of the small town location of Pinecrest. They treat the residents almost like family. I was very impressed by the cleanliness too, it doesn't smell like an institution but more like a home. The cats and dogs that roam certain floors also gives it that homey feeling. I also liked the "happy hour" offered to the residents. The trips to the local Casino and Fish Fries are also very nice to offer. The staff at Pinecrest seem to try their best to accommodate their residents and make them as comfortable, happy, and independent as possible. Pincrest is a top notch place. If for some reason I need to put my parents in such a facility or if I some day need the care, I would want to go to Pinecrest.

About 5 years ago, it was decided my Grandfather needed to go into a nursing home. After having visited area homes it was decided that Pinecrest was not only the closest, but the nicest nursing home. It proved to be true in my opinion. My Grandfather was somewhat depressed at having to be there the first couple of weeks. Once he got to know the staff and the other residents he seemed happier than I've seen him in years. He, himself has nothing but good to say about the place and visiting him is pleasent, as the staff makes a point of trying to give the place a homey feel. There are two floors and they both have a cafeteria area, which is beautiful, and also a living room with a big tv, computer, fireplace, and a piano. There is also a "community puzzle" that's always out on one of the tables for whoever wants to help work on it.Every Wednesday and Friday, they have "Happy Hour". There is usually live entertainment and you can have a beer or a cocktail (doctor permitting) and any visitors can partake also. There are many other activities during the week, like Bingo or crafting. In the summer they have a large garden outside that residents can help keep up and a gazebo where they have BBQs when the weather is nice. There is also a little playground for children that are visiting.I can honestly say when my time comes this is the nursing home I want to be in.
