What used to be a fairly sad, dark, hospital-esque environment has been transformed into a comfortable living environment in recent years. In the early 2000's the facility was rated poorly and I could see why as it was not pleasant to visit at all. Today, the same building is welcoming and comfortable. They even have a resident cat to keep residents company, and single occupancy rooms are available. The hallways and rooms are clean and the staff appears to have a friendly relationship with my Grandmother. Staff is friendly, helpful and kind. The rooms are a little stark, but there doesn't seem to be an objection to the family decorating a bit. The single occupancy rooms were definitely not an option in the past. Also, it seems that residents are kept busy with activities and get out of their rooms quite a bit, where in the past this wasn't encouraged or didn't seem to be an option.

There are some very caring, capable employees here, but I would not want my loved one there again. My husband was given double the medication he should have received for his Parkinson's Disease for a coule of days. The dosages were changed by the doctor and the old order was not discontinued. In another instance he was also given the wrong drug - a different version of the prescribed medication. The nurse who was responsible in both instances no longer works there. I am concerned, however, that there are no procedures in place to make certain that the prescribed drug comes in correctly from the pharmacy supplier. There were times when the drugs did not come in on a timely basis from the pharmacy and time was lost. I was there every day to advocate for my loved one, but there are residents who do not have visitors. Who will be their advocate? Therapy is very good at Roosevelt Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Nice, large private only rooms. Housekeeping outstanding.
