My grandma is at MediLodge of Kalamazoo for rehab. There's not much to look at. It kind of looks like a normal facility, but the staff is really nice. They actually seemed like they care. I was never able to go in because of COVID, but we have visited her through the window. Her room looks like a hospital room, but it was clean. They have a common room where they can watch TV. They have arts and crafts too. The staff really don't interact with us when we go and visit her, but they email and call us if they need to. Whenever we want to know something, they're always available to talk to us. All nursing homes are way too expensive, but they are on the cheaper end.

My mother was a patient of Tendercare for about a year and it absolutely reeked of urine all the time. Linens weren't changed and it was just gross. They weren't very industrious and quick to answer somebody's call bell. The food was uninteresting.

My mother was sent to recuperate after she fell and broke her hip. The staff put her in a room with 3 other patients, who all had various stages of mobility. Two of the patients were really out of it and remained bed ridden. One patient was able to sit up and do some tasks on her own. When you walk into the facility the main lobby is usually very busy and the waiting area was clean but shabby. The attending doctor was there rarely, so I talked mostly with my mothers nurses. The nurses were friendly and concerned. My mother was an alcoholic most of my life, and when she was admitted to the hospital, they had to do a rapid detox, so her health was in poor shape when she was at the nursing home. The staff helped her regain mobility and the physical therapist helped her relearn to walk. The staff helped me deal with the frightening and confusing situation I found myself in with my mothers care. One major issue I did have was the clothes I had bought for my mother to wear during her recovery, were washed and I saw other patients wearing them. to correct the problem we had to take her clothes home and wash them and bring them back. They were labeled with her name so that should have not been a problem.

I toured this facility with my family and was very impressed with it in general. The facilities were very clean and well maintained, and didn't have the feel of a hospital like many facilities do. The therapy in this facility was very impressive, they were very knowledgeable, and like all of the other staff, they were very respectful. The furniture in the building adds to the homey feel, and small touches, such as a salon, help add to the impressiveness of the facility. Tendercare also offers short-term care, so if you are going out of town but don't want to leave an elderly family member alone, they can stay at Tendercare for the short term. Short term patients receive all of the benefits of the facilities, and it is a comfortable stay for patients while being a comforting environment for family members, who know that they are leaving their loved ones in good hands.
