The Bluffs was a phenomenal place for my grandmother to live. The people who cared for her were diligent in performing their duties, going above and beyond to make sure that she was comfortable and happy as much as they could. The nurses that helped her were always kind enough to answer our questions that we had for them, be it what they were going to be serving, to the reasoning behind turning her over multiple times per day. Overall, the facilities were great, The Bluffs became her home-away-from-home, and we felt confident that she was as happy as she could possibly be.

The Bluffs is closer to my father's home where more of the family is too. Also I'm from that area, so I know of the place. That's how I've come across this place. The staff was very nice and helpful. Right now, I do have my father on the waiting list there. The rooms/apartments were nice. They're very clean, and they're like 664-square feet, so they were nice-size apartments. They're nice little apartments, so my father will have his privacy there too. With regards to activities, they have all the activities that he is currently doing now at the other facility. Also they did have good security there. Overall, with all the activities and everything that is available to the residents, it's wonderful. Also I like that there is somebody, i.e., a nurse that is on-call 24 hours over there too, which is really nice.

THE STAFFThe Bluffs seems to employ a good mixture of age groups to assist in reception, resident care, food service and maintenance. The large majority of their "wait staff" for meals are young women who are always smiling and ready to help the residents with whatever it is they might need (e.g. cutting meat for residents with bad arthritis). The reception desk always has someone behind it ready to greet and direct you during your visit. The maintenance staff is exemplary. One of the members of the maintenance staff even allowed me access to his shop when I forgot the necessary tools for an installation job. Everyone there seems to keep the best interests of the residents in mind at all times and are genuinely friendly.THE FACILITIESIt goes without saying that The Bluffs is one of the nicest buildings in town. The folks living there experience an aesthetically pleasing environment on a daily basis. One would almost think it was a lodge or nice hotel when walking in. It is fairly new construction and it has been very well done. The kitchen is state-of-the-art, and operates more efficiently than some restaurants (from what I have gathered during meal times and a brief amount of time in the kitchen itself). There are three floors worth of dwellings and all of the rooms feel like a real home. They are carpeted, clean, well-maintained and are a great place to put all of your furnishings. Residents are able to move right in without a problem. AMENITIESResidents are always receiving assistance from the staff with telephone calls and other daily tasks, making their lives simple and enjoyable. They only need ask. On each floor there is a great room in the center of the building. The first floor houses the dining area, but the other two are very attractive lounge areas. The whole place is decorated seasonally, including 15' artificial trees during the holidays. Local members of the the community also host different activities throughout the day including newspaper readings, bingo, morning aerobics and other special events. I've even seen a few birthday parties hosted by the staff. OVERVIEWIf I had to send my loved one to an assisted living facility, this would be one of my top choices. The Bluffs overlooks Houghton, a beautiful addition to the landscape up on the hill. All of the staff are dedicated to their work, and form genuine friendships with the residents. The building itself is nearly brand new and is properly maintained. The addition of community members' willingness to regularly help out and host events rounds out everything that is offered at The Bluffs. I really have nothing negative to say after being a frequently returning guest in the home(s) of a great number of the elderly who reside there.

The Bluffs is a beautiful facility for the elderly. It has a wonderful view also. They have a very nice dining room for the residents. There are a lot of activities for the residents to participate in every month. All of the residents look very happy to be there. They also have seperate houses on the property. There is a beauty shop for the residents. Right when you walk in there is a lobby area for anyone to have coffee and bakery. This is a great thing for visitors to have while they visit with a resident. The facility is very clean and welcoming. The staff is also very friendly. I am so impressed with this facility. It is a great place. It is the kind of place that I would like to live in when I am older. The Bluffs is a very nice assisted living center for the elderly.

My aunt and uncle moved to this facility 2 years ago when they both started to have medical problems and were not able to take care of their home the way that they wanted to. My family has visited them three times and each visit leaves us quite impressed. It is a beautiful place and a great location. The site is clean, the floor plans spacious and the dining is wonderful. They have care whenever they need it, are surrounded by people their own age and have stayed very active at this center. They make sure to bring in a lot of things for the residents to do and also have many outings that they can do when they feel up to it. They love that they are able to be independent when they want but also have someone there if they are having trouble. They always talk about how great it is and how wonderful the staff. The staff is always great to us and very helpful. I highly recommend this facility if you live in the area.

The staff at The Bluffs is very professional and friendly. They share a special bond with many of the residents, all of whom seemed very happy and well looked after. There are a variety of living space layouts for different needs as well as different levels of care for different needs. The facility is very clean and well-kept and easy for all levels of ability to access. They also offer many activities and opportunities for social interaction. They also fed all of us on our visit and the food was delicious. My grandmother especially liked it and thought it was even better than her own cooking!

The Bluffs is a relative new living facility. They have a variety of room layouts (which does make the whole place seem more home-like). The facility has a variety of opportunities from shopping activities to special movie times. There is also easy access to health care services. What makes the Bluffs stand out from the other facilities in the area is the wonderful view of the area and the saunas! This facility, being quite new, is clean, bright and a cheery place to live. The food there is excellent (I was very surprised at how good my dinner was during my visit). The Bluffs even have a monthly newsletter that informs all residents of what the special events that month and event lists the birthdays of the residents. Although it may seem like a large facility, the steps and care taken for the residents make it a comfortable place to live. Over all, this is a newer, clean and comfortable residence for you or your loved one.
