I visited Thirwood Place and I didn't want to come home. I wanted to stay there forever. I went there because I have friends that lived there. To enter, you have to have a good deal more money than I have. It was expensive. But you get what you pay for and then some. Anybody who can afford it, I can't say enough about Thirwood. My friends have been trying to get me to move there for years. They've been in independent living there for two years. I had dinner there twice. With their plan for independent living, they get dinner every night. But you have the choice of having dinner every night or, for slightly less, just 16 meals a month. My friends were having lunch in a cafe there and you only have to pay like $4.50 to get lunch. That was good and the food was fine. They have a heated indoor swimming pool for everybody. There are trails, a forest, and a lake. My friends have picture windows that overlook this bit of forest and the lake. I would say they have a very wide variety of activities. You probably couldn't do better. They say it's expensive, but you get what you pay for. It's worth it. Every room has a way to call for help if you need it. Every morning, between eight and ten, you get a phone call, and if you don't respond, someone comes to your room. Which is important if something happens to you. There are lots of common areas that are beautifully appointed. There's even a piano in some of them. There's quite a variety of plans. They have the more expensive and larger units that are in places called the village, which are separate buildings from the main building. My friends are in one of those. They have a 2-bedroom, 2-bath unit. The units have either a balcony or a patio. They also have a golf course, and you can get transportation if you need to go to a drug drugstore to pick up prescriptions or something like that. Then there are other occasions where you can get transportation to things if you can't drive. Plus, they have tours. My friends had just been on a tour to a cranberry bog where they learned all about cranberries. I would be getting all my breakfasts and lunches, and I'm always looking for organic foods, and they're not too far away from Hyannis. There's every kind of shopping you can imagine, and people want to go there. It's just a beautiful area and a beautiful setting. Every place you drive is beautiful along the way. It's just a wonderful place.

I toured Thirwood Place. I have a handicapped parking sticker. I was able to park about four yards from the front main entrance. The woman let me. She was very nice. She showed me everything. She showed me the room. We went into the pool area. I met the woman who's in charge of giving pool instructions. We read the menu. She showed me all the facilities. I liked that place very much. I like the facilities. I like the way she showed me around. There were rooms if you had visitors and you couldn't afford them in your own room, you could rent a room for visitors that had two queen size beds, which I thought was nice. Part of their fees, all the utilities were paid. They have a full kitchen, a stove, a dishwasher, a microwave, and a refrigerator. Rita was excellent. She showed me everything. The other thing that I was very concerned about, that she told me is that every morning they ring your room, and if you don't respond by pushing the button within like an hour or two, whatever it was, they send somebody to your room to check on you. They have a nurse on board. They have a barbershop and a beauty salon, and you have to pay extra. I was impressed with their building. The housekeeping came in every week, which I thought was nice.

I visited Thirwood Place. We liked everything. We just weren't ready to make a move like that. If and when we decide to do it, and it might not be for a few more years, that would probably be our first choice. We only dealt with one person, we found that very strange. We saw no people the whole time, and we were there for 2 hours. We were very impressed with the facility. The only person we dealt with was the guide. We looked at one apartment that we like in the separate buildings. Everything was very nice. We saw the library, the weight room, and everything there was. We were very impressed with it. We saw a beauty shop, a little cafe, a big dining room, the pool area, and a gymnasium. Everything was closed. It wasn't anybody using anything, but it was all very nice, very clean, and very appealing, but deserted. They do have a bus that would take you anywhere. They have entertainment come in a lot. They also have access to a golf course, and they'll take it to the beach. They'll take you anywhere you want to go. They offer everything, you have laundry services, and maid service. Everything is taken care of for you.

Thirwood Place was very nice and very well kept up. The living facilities that they showed me, the one and two-bedroom units, were beautiful. The dining options were just phenomenal. There are lots of activities, but I didn't see many people. I was wondering when I got through and I saw, "Where was everybody?" They've got swimming, arts and crafts, and woodworking, but there was nobody doing anything. Maybe there's one person in the pool and I think three people were doing an aerobics class or some sort of healthy activity. I thought for a place that large, there should be more people roaming around or doing something because I'm pretty active. I like to be out and about doing things. That was the only thing that bothered me was the lack of seeing people, I thought there should be more people out and about, but the location was good and the facility itself was beautiful. The tour was excellent.

I toured Thirwood Place' s independent living. I saw that they also have something that were like condos. The place is older but they have more than you could ever want. It's huge and they have everything like a gym, they do arts and movies. The guy who assisted me was very nice too. The only thing that is confusing to me is that you have to give them money upfront, and I don't understand what it's for. I don't understand how that worked and it was confusing. The room I saw was a 2-bedroom with two baths. It had a walk-in closet, and it was large and a good size.

I was living in Thirwood Place in a small one-bedroom unit. The bathrooms and shower were all good, and they were large enough for me to take my wheelchair. All the units had their own washer and dryer. They had a great and very caring staff. If you hadn't checked in by 7:30 in the morning, they call you to see if you're OK. The staff was very, very good. On Cape Cod, you didn't have as many other nationalities involved in the caretaking. Anglo-Saxons were the main caretakers, and they're very lovely. I got the New York Times all the time, and they delivered it right tothe front door of my little apartment. There were three different little restaurant areas and they were open for lunch and dinner. For breakfast, you could go up to a bar and get your coffee, roll, eggs, or whatever you wanted. Dinner was provided in the amount that I paid. They had an indoor swimming pool, a gym room, and you could sign up for chair yoga and someone came in to help you with that. There were other activities like I used to paint and there was an artist room. If you wanted help with the painting once a week, they would do that. They did the laundry. Even though we had our own washer and dryer, they came in and changed the sheets and took the sheets away once a week, if you wanted that. It's a very attractive place to be. I only lived there a year. It's a bit expensive and you had to "buy-in," but you got your money back when you left. It was a great place to be.

I visited Thirwood Place for my father, and it was quite impressive. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I saw a two-bedroom in the assisted living portion, and it was very nice and clean. They showed me a one-bedroom as well, and some of the facilities there, but not all. We saw the courtyard and a pond. The place was very nice, with nice views, and nice people. It was well maintained.

My mother is at Thirwood Place. It's very well managed, clean, and well laid out. The staff has been very helpful, and they've been very protective during this period of COVID-19. Right now, all their activities have been suspended. Otherwise, they have minimal activities. The dining area is very nice, and the food is above normal.

My mother spent 4 wonderful years at Thirwood before she passed away. She got a new lease on life after she moved in. She was in a beautiful apartment with a second bedroom for visiting family. She felt safe and secure, and made a whole new circle of friends. The food in the dining room and Bistro was so good that we would often opt to eat there when we visited rather than taking her to a restaurant. Best of all, the staff is caring and professional. They went above and beyond when we needed help the last few months of my mother’s life. It is expensive, but I can’t think of a better use of her money than to insure her last years were as happy as they were.

This place is very expensive. We have found the food to be of very poor quality. The staff is nice. There is very limited handicapped parking as in almost none. The grounds are fair. The proximity to the pond is nice.

Thirwood Place has both assisted and independent living. My parents moved in about three weeks ago. It's very pleasant and the staff has been very nice. The food is good and there's too much. It's quite beautiful and they're very attentive to my parents' needs. We're very happy with them and they have a very good reputation. We had a couple of problems, but they took care of them. It's comparable to other places in the area as far as price is concerned, but the staffing is a little better than other places.

Mom is very happy at Thirwood Place. The place is doing medication management for my relative, showers her twice a week, and other minimal assistance like reminders of things. The place is excellent and clean. The apartments are really big for a 1-bedroom. The staff is very responsive. There's always someone around, and they take her to activities. It's a very caring place and very well run.

Thirwood Place looks like a luxury hotel. The rooms were tiny, well cared for, beautiful little kitchen, good size living area, and a patio or balcony. The staff was lovely. I visited several activities that were going on. There was a group working on puzzles in one room, craft class another room, people in the pool, and people in the library.

We’ve got a chance to have dinner at Thirwood Place. The one in-charge of marketing was very helpful, the staff seemed to enjoy working there, and one advantage was the size of the units. They had independent, assisted, and a small area for memory care. It had larger units, but as a result, the expenses were more too. They didn’t have all the things we needed. They have a Flax Pond, and they had a trail that went around the pond, so that really attracted my wife. They had a good size swimming pool, hot tubs, and fitness rooms.

Thirwood Place's staff was excellent, very welcoming, and very nice. The apartments were adequate. The rest of the facility was beautiful. There were so many things to do there. I liked it a lot.

Thirwood Place is a great, clean place. The community is spread out with different apartments for the different levels of needs of the people. You would see residents who seemed happy to be there walking around. The prices of the apartments were not that bad, either. I would recommend this place to anybody looking.

My mother is at Thirwood Place. It was one of the many places that I visited, and I liked it from the very start. They're all very nice. The staff members are all excellent. My mother is in a private apartment. It has a living room, a bedroom, a kitchen, and it has its own laundry and bathroom. It has a balcony. They have different exercise classes; they have coffee hours; and they have an indoor pool. They are located beside a pond as well. They have spacious grounds. The best thing about this is its proximity. It is close by to me so that we can visit. This is my mom's third month now. I would recommend this facility.

Thirwood Place is a wonderful place to live. I was there for 8 years and left only to be closer to family. It has a staff which is caring and really competent. The buildings and grounds are beautifully maintained and provide an excellent atmosphere in all respects.

The staff Thirwood is outstanding, friendly, thoughtful and helpful. Activities at Thirwood are numerous - pool, exercise and social activities, library services to spend a snowy winter! Food is superb!
