I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The floor staff did everything they could to help my relative heal. My relative was at Baypath for almost 2 months for rehabilitation. The CNA's, AMAZING!! The NURSES, AMAZING! The PA'S, AMAZING! The cleaning crew, AMAZING. The issue alone lies with the directors, the kitchen and everyone who runs the facility. Every staff member on the floor did as much as they were able, they gave my relative top care! I never saw or spoke to her doctor once while I was there. I inquired, nobody had an answer and I was never told who her doctor was. I can only speak of where my relative was. It was not a live in situation, a rehabilitation and discharge. Because I was there every day I was able to make sure she got what she needed. They are understaffed and spread thin. They are absolutely overwhelmed and very kind and thankful for you to participate in your relatives healing. The staff/directors that run the facility seem to be helpful, or wanting to help, but it was meeting after meeting and nothing is ever done. They will speak with you over and over and no changes get made. The food is absolutely atrocious! I give the food a minus 00000. The food is brought to the floor and served. I went out every day and looked at all the food being returned by patients because it was inedible. You will be told they will make changes. Then when they are not made they say there is nothing they can do. This went on after more than 3 meetings with the people who run the facility. I was also told that because I wasn't there to advocate for my mother it was not their fault she got food that she cannot eat. They said if she didn't know what she can and cannot eat then that's her fault. She just went through medical hell and her memory wasn't good. Regardless of the severity of your allergy issues, cardiac issues or any special diets they still serve it to the patient. I spent so much money bringing in food. Rest and food seemed to be a back burner issue. Being there 5-6 hours every day because my mother would call crying because of hunger or simply not feeling safe after she was moved. Also sick to her stomach because of the food. She was discharged back to the hospital at one point due to excessive vomiting because of a meal. My relative had to be moved due to a contagious infection. Being moved due to an infection is understandable but they put her in a room that she couldn't fit a chair beside her bed. Which she needed for rehabilitation to walking. Something she had been doing for rehabilitation to walk the entire time being there. The garbage barrell was at the end of her bed full of dirty diapers from the roommate that use the refused to get up and use bathroom. The bathroom door opened up onto her bed. Yes She had no closet and her new roommate was a screamer. Due to this infection she had to be in the same room with another person that has it. Because with the infection you have to use the restroom to stay clean so the infection heals and doesn't spread. Cleanliness was crucial, it was contagious. The woman she was in the room with refused to use the bathroom. Only a commode. The room was not clean. The smell was awful. The bathroom awful and the door opened to my relatives bed! How can the bathroom be so dirty when the roommate refused to use it, walk to it and even announced to us she does not use the bathroom it's all my relatives. I cleaned everything and got my relative comfortable. I reached the point of frustration, I talked to them about discharge immediately. They did discharge my relative, stating is wasn't against doctor's recommendation. The day before they advised A signature was needed to sign a form that it was against doctor's orders, which I refused. If you stand up and say something they tell you they will discharge you without doctors consent and you can sign a form. Not a solution at all. I was able to keep my relative's room clean. The CNA's did everything, they were absolutely irreplaceable! They are so understaffed everyone just tries to keep up. I chose Baypath due to it's 5 star rating and it's to location being close to home. The director would speak of their 5 star rating a lot and wanting it to stay that way??? Yet, they refuse to hear or make changes. I brought the food to the staff's attention, they gave my relative 2 baked potatoes for dinner with yellow broccoli bits one evening. I brought it out and asked if they would feed it to their dog and nobody could answer because it was absolutely a no! I was told they cannot do anything about the kitchen and if you speak with the kitchen staff they blame everyone else as well. I was very hands on with my relative's rehabilitation. I feel for the person that cannot spend the time I did. Time I was paying for them to care for my relative so I could work and know she was safe. My relative lost another 10-12lbs there and went into failure to thrive. My relative advocated for herself over and over, as well as myself for her, the kitchen will never change so be prepared to pay for food for your relative. If you have a relative that has a difficult time eating, be prepared to go there and feed them. I am highly disappointed with this facility. It is not a 5 star facility. It is a 0 at best and for food, a negative 0. Listening to the patients needs, working with the family, they do not take care of their staff and the directors etc blame every other department. I will never recommend this facility. If the entire staff of CNA's, PA's and nurses were at another facility I would not hesitate. The director, people who run the facility etc....NEVER!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband is at Bay Path Skilled Nursing Home & Rehabilitation. I chose it because they were rated very high in their physical and occupational therapy. I like the cleanliness of the place and the staff is extremely helpful. They do their very best. They're quick to respond whenever the patient pushes the button to seek help. And they are kind, and they're not vicious. They have an activities room and an activities director, and they try to send someone around every few days and make sure people are aware of it. They even have an ice cream sundae cart that comes around on Tuesdays.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Bay Path at Duxbury Nursing & Rehabilitation Center was managed very well. Everything was clean and pleasant, and the patients were taken of very well. I thought that the staff was very courteous and knowledgeable, and they did a good job. My friend was in the rehab part, but they also had a bunch of different features right there in the community. They also provide food, care, and they even had a bar area where you can sit down and have drinks. I thought it was very nice.
