My mother in law has been a resident of Cedar Dell for 14 months. Recently she had to spend four weeks in rehab due to a fall. Upon her return, my husband and I were amazed and truly touched at all the love and attention she received from the staff and residents that have become her friends and extended family. It is so comforting to know that she is well taken care of as she so deserves! Thank you Cedar Dell!

The facility is clean and comfy. My mother's apartment is small but nice. The employees(hourly) seem friendly and caring. My only complaint would be the food. My mother moved in early this year one thing that sold her was food quality. Elegant lunches and special dinners etc. But recently my last few visits with her the food seems to be more cafeteria style, cheap ingredients made in bulk and slopped on a plate to save a buck. On top of it recently now I'm charged 5x as much to eat with her. She's always complaining about the downgrade in quality as well. For Thanksgiving they ran out of turkey before we even made it downstairs. Seems like poor culinary management. I've asked to see the food manager and no one ever comes out. I'm always told he's in a meeting. I've asked to see the director of the facility and she is never in weekday or weekends. Sadly this nice property seems to be poorly managed.

I liked The Residence at Cedar Dell and all the amenities that they had. The woman who did the presentation was very professional, very knowledgeable, and answered all our questions. I liked the different things they had available for their residents, like the library, the dining hall, and a couple of little bistros on each floor where you could just get coffee. The apartments were nice. They were small, but I don't think that's unusual for assisted living. We saw a 2-bedroom and a 1-bedroom. The whole place was very clean and it was in good shape.

Mom is at The Residence at Cedar Dell. I liked it because of the facilities and the cleanliness. The apartments are nice. She felt like she was at home. They have daily activities. They have exercise groups, games, and entertainment. Everything I've asked of the staff, they have done for me. Food is excellent, too. They have an exercise room, a salon, and a courtyard. They can sit and have meals outside or cookouts during the summertime. So, they try to make it as comfortable as they can for everybody.

We toured The Residence at Cedar Dell. It was a small facility. They had a seating area, and they had an activity area which I think doubled as their dining area. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable.

We have chosen The Residence at Cedar Dell for my mom, because of its closeness to where we live now. It's right down the road from where my mother is living now, so it was very convenient. It's very clean, and the staff was very nice, they were excellent. The chef did give my mother a cake in a jar to try, but I didn't try it; she had it. There's no pool, but they have a patio outside where you can go sit at Adirondack chairs. They have bingo nights, wine and cheese tastings, movie nights, and things like that. They have music as well. The rooms are very nice, they have a small fridge and microwave; it's like a little studio apartment type.

The Residence at Cedar Dell was stunningly beautiful. It's a more upscale facility. The rooms were very comfortable, and they got a patio. They just couldn't take my sister in because of their age limitations. You have to be 62 years old and above, she's only 57, but they're the nicest place I've seen. The person who got to tour me was lovely too.

My mom has moved in to The Residence at Cedar Dell and it's probably one of the best quality in terms of living, food, but the more important thing for us at the time is that they had a memory unit and my mother needed to be in the memory unit. The staff is pretty good. I would like to see more regular communication and I am paying a lot of money so I actually expect that. They have exercise, road trips, music and they have a lot of options in the activity aspect so we're happy with that. They need to improve on better programs management and I pay a lot of money per month and I expect these things to be a lot more frequent, more communication to the family, me in particular.

I think in Cedar you had to spend time in the dining room, and they did in fact have a unit that had cooking facilities so that it’s possible to prepare something. It’s just that these places for our interest right now seemed to be a little of all of them. They were protective -- and that’s good -- but more protective than what we need at the moment. We actually put in an application for one of the residences which was a two bedroom, and then I guess we held that for a month and then decided that it was probably not our time for the assisted living. We saw a one bedroom, and it was very spacious, bright, and very appealing. If you are going to be out for the evening to dinner and you are going to be late like 8 o’clock, you have to let them know because they lock the doors; this is a security feature but it’s just something that I don’t really want to be announcing myself, and that’s just my particular preference. We were invited for a meal and we did not partake because we didn’t want to spend the time sitting at a table and being served, but their meals supposedly were very nice and there were people who were lining out to get in to the dining room. The people had favorite tables and wanted to be there, but they supposedly have a very good menu. We have seen the sample menu, and it was appealing. They did have a community room, exercise, hairdressing room, and a barber shop; they really fill most of the needs of the people, and those needs that were not met at the facility were considered to get transportation.

My parents have received excellent care from the caring and experienced personnel of The Residence at Cedar Dell. Initially, my parents were in the assisted living together. Then, my mom required more monitored care in the meadows unit. However, the staff encourages my parents to be together as often as possible to maintain their quality of life.
