Small studios & 1 bedrooms. Owners are "upgrading" units on the backs of the poorer clientele that they brought in at the beginning of their takeover of this previously empty building. They have hiked the rents up and are adding fees as they go along, despite having no attractions such as a gym. There are leaks in the ceilings, cracks in the bathroom sinks, apartments with no ovens, insufficient heating/a.c. Carpets were never replaced, despite rent hikes. Garage and surface lots are supposed to be no charge but mid lease, they are charging for the garage as though we are living in Boston ($250/month). Next will be charges for the inadequate laundry. Management is totally unfriendly to renters and, despite renters stating that they would consider appropriate charges for parking after health and safety problems were taken care of, management claimed we stated we would never accept charges, and so were simply going ahead as planned.

I went to see Serenity Towers at Brockton. The woman running it was very informative and helpful. She showed me the studio, a 1-bedroom, and a 2-bedroom apartment. The studio room was fairly small. They would supply the refrigerator. Some of them had ovens and a stove, but some of them didn't. They all had a small kitchenette. It was a high-rise building with about 7 floors. They didn't have outdoor spaces, but the interior where they used to serve the meals was a very big open area. Now, they changed it into a big lounge area for visitors.
