Fenwick Landing Senior Care Community is one of the few not-for-profits, which is helpful. They are very caring and very helpful. I would say they bend over backward to help you get your loved ones signed up. They have regular assisted living for the able minded and they have memory care. My mother is in memory care. What I can speak highly of is the atmosphere there. They let the residents interact with each other. My mother got bored with me and wanted to go off and be with the other residents when I visited her once, which I was happy to see. I'm working with them now on a diet plan because it's a little rich for my mom. We're trying to work on a diet plan that works for her until my sister picks her up. My mom likes the food, but I haven't tried it. They have a television lounge, and they have a living room area with an aquarium where they can interact with each other. It's a smaller size as memory care facilities go. However, it's been there so long, it needs a facelift. They need to modernize it, and that's tough while people are living there.
What you can do with Caring
About Fenwick Landing Senior Care Community in Waldorf, Maryland
We learned long ago that smaller is better when it comes to really knowing our residents and their families. Fenwick Landing Senior Care Community is comprised of two side-by-side residential homes. With only 15 residents in each of our homes, we are able to provide each person with the individualized, resident-centered, attention they deserve.
People come to us for a variety of reasons. Some have health needs that require monitoring, some have dementia, and others require physical help with their daily care. For this reason, we have designed our homes to provide a wide range of care options. One of our homes caters to individuals requiring mild to moderate assistance, while our advanced care home is designed for those requiring more intensive services such as memory care, so that nursing home placement may not be necessary.
Our approach is oriented towards comfort - physical, emotional, and spiritual, incorporating each resident's life history and life choices into our care model.
Your loved one will experience the feeling of a safe and comfortable home-away-from-home at Fenwick Landing. Since many older adults have difficulty with climbing stairs, each our homes are on one level. This design also makes it easier for individuals with cognitive impairments to find their way and allows easy access to our secured backyard.
Private bedrooms are the norm for all of our residents providing each of them with personal space. Each home also has a common living room, cozy fireplace, dining room, and a peaceful lounge where residents can relax, meditate, or spend time with family and friends.
Our enclosed courtyards offer our residents a safe, comfortable place to enjoy the outdoors. We believe that sunshine and fresh air are the best medicine!
Our comprehensive activity program encourages socialization and companionship, offering a wide variety of mentally and physically stimulating programs. We also go out on a weekly lunch outing and participate in other community events.
The Dagsboro residential home accommodates residents with mild-to-moderate care needs. Although Dagsboro residents are somewhat independent concerning their daily needs, they do require some supervision and assistance with certain tasks. Our skilled caregivers are here to assist with what is needed, but to also respect each resident's wishes.
The Dunroven home is designed for individuals with higher care needs such as those with advanced dementia or other chronic health conditions. Our caregivers in this home are prepared to assist our residents with care in any way needed, including at more advanced levels, such as transferring or feeding. The management office is located in this building, with a fully visible view of the common areas, so that residents can be observed more closely.
Have peace of mind about who is taking care of your loved one at Fenwick Landing Senior Care Community. We have well-trained employees that provide compassionate care and assistance to all of our residents. Our Certified Medication Technicians ensure that each resident receives his or her medication as ordered by their personal physician. A registered nurse visits the homes 2-3x a week to assist us in monitoring our residents' health status. We are proud that our management team has been with us for many years. Their zero deficiency State survey record speaks for itself, in regard to the care they provide, their good follow up and communication. Our families frequently tell us how much they appreciate the relationship they have with our managers and staff.
Fenwick Landing also offers short-term respite care and adult medical day care.

I toured Fenwick Landing Senior Care Community. The distance was a little farther, so we decided not to go that way. The staff members presented themselves well. However, they didn't have the rooms we wanted, as the room size was not available.

I chose to move my husband to Fenwick Landing Senior Care Community because I knew someone that had been there and it was safe, clean, and secure. They're very caring. They watch my husband closely and keep in contact with me. So, I just feel he's in a safe place and he's well cared for. He likes the food. He's been eating better than he did before. Everything is well-maintained and the grounds are great. The inside looks good, too. It's like you're at home. Someone would take him outside to walk around and they try to keep him busy and involved a little bit with the activities. They're first class and on top of everything.

Clean facility, friendly loving caring staff. Quality activities for residents. Covid hit no longer after my family member moved into Fenwick. Stressful time for everyone. I never once worried because I was not able to access bldg. staff went above and beyond to ensure we were able to window visit. Staff were more than staff, they became family, when family could not access the bldg

Fenwick Landing Senior Care Community looked like a nice place. The people there were nice, knowledgeable and friendly. It looked like a fairly new community. There was transportation to and from. They also had an adult day care with the assisted living.

I had my mom here. She had dementia and has passed. The caretakers and management were a godsend. Loosing my mom was devastating but their excellent care, love and compassion made this a little easier. I would highly reccomend Fenwick Landing to anyone needing care.

As a first responder, I have seen senior facilities in several area counties, as well as in Charles County. Fenwick Landing was hands down the only place I felt comfortable leaving my parents for assisted living care. Over the span of five years, my parents were well-cared for, kept clean and comfortable at all times. The staff became family, often taking the time to decorate and plan special events around birthdays and anniversaries, etc. The facilities were always clean or in the process of being cleaned. I visited several times a week, daytime, evening, weekends, and always felt welcomed. The facility always had an aroma of something delicious baking for the residents' next meal. If I did have a concern (very few), the management was quick to discuss and address my concern, and were willing to work with me on care requests. If I came during mealtime, the staff always asked if I would like something to eat. When I was unable to take leave from work, the staff at Fenwick Landing accompanied my parents to individual doctor appointments, and kept me updated on all care. During stressful times of declining health and illness, my concerns and questions were always answered, and management was very patient and supportive. No matter where your loved ones are placed for assisted care, a family member or loved one really needs to be a participating advocate... The staff at Fenwick Landing were great, and I was very satisfied overall with the care given to my parents.

My mom was at Fenwick Landing for over 8 years. I loved the staff and administrators at Fenwick. They all genuinely care for and love the residents. The staff takes the time to learn about the residents and talks with them constantly. There is always a fun activity going on, trips out to lunch, hair styling, nails painting, outside churches coming in for prayer and worship. The residents are always well groomed and taken care of. I NEVER thought that I would be in a position of placing a loved one anywhere but home, unfortunately that was not an option. Fenwick has a family feel and I wouldn't change a thing about our family's choice for my mom. The atmosphere among staff and family members is fantastic. If I was there during a meal, each and every time the chefs asked if I wanted a plate. The food was always fantastic and as one of my favorite ladies would say when asked how her meal was, she replied "DELICIOUS". Everyone looked after one another. Family members of other residents all talked and formed friendships. I do not regret choosing Fenwick, everyone was amazing.

Fenwick Landing was home to my Dad for over four years. Finding the right place to care for our Dad was one of the most difficult decisions that as a family, we had ever been forced to make. Knowing that we could no longer provide the care that he needed, we toured several facilities and settled on Fenwick Landing. We soon learned that we had made the best decision. The facility proved to be one of the most caring, warm and friendly facilities available. The staff truly cared for my Dad as they would for their own family member. They welcomed my family as visitors and always made us feel welcome and at home. Dealing with the declining health of a loved one is a difficult enough process, but the staff at Fenwick helped make the transition easy for us all. They not only cared for our Dad, but helped us to deal with losing him even before he passed. I think most importantly they helped my Dad to live out his last few years with the dignity and respect he deserved. I will never forget walking into the facility the night he passed. It was late, but several of the staff had come in from their homes to say goodbye one last time. Our Dad passed surrounded by family; ours and the team from Fenwick. I could not thank them enough for what they did for our family.

My mother has been a resident since 2016. The rooms are very nice, each with their own private bathroom (minus shower). There are numerous planned weekly activities, along with a weekly restaurant outing. The staff and management are very caring. Our experience overall has been very positive and we have have been treated like family. There are regular onsite visits made by a doctor, a dentist and a podiatrist.

I would like to say that my mother-on-law has been at Fenwick Landing Senior Care in the Dunroven since 2011she has Dementia. I read some of these reviews and I don't agree with them but everyone has their right to there opinion. In all my visits there I have seen only love giving to the residents by the staff. This is what made us make our decision to go there in the first place. When you have staff that is not afraid to hug or give someone a kiss on the cheek and tell them how much they care touches my heart. I see how the place is kept and it is always clean. If you ask the staff to do something for you of your loved one they are always willing to do so. I also like the fact that they have staff who comes and does crafts and reads to the residents although most do not know what they are doing they do it anyway in hopes to touch at least one person . They also have parties for the resident and their families at Christmas and Mothers Day and a picnic for Father Day. On Wednesday's they take people who are capable of going out to lunch at various places that they like to eat at. Everyone there from management to staff are very caring and giving people. I wouldn't want my Mother-In- Law to be at any other place but Fenwick Landing.

My mom was a resident at Fenwick Landing and I could not speak higher of the staff and management. They always made my family and I feel comfortable. They have amazing holiday parties which you can bring your entire family at no charge. (I have a large family). The facility was always clean and smelled nice. (this was very important for me). My mom and I were very close and when she passed it was one of the hardest things I went through. I was so glad to have had my mom at Fenwick. They were there with me the whole time and helped tremendously. I can't thank them enough.

The staff is excellent!!! Every person that works here is very kind and professional. The entire facility is sparkling clean. There are many daily activities bingo, trivia, baking and gardening. The overall attitude is consistent and always positive. My Dad started in Fenwick Landing’s Adult Day Center. Dad is now a full time resident at Fenwick’s Assisted Living. I am so happy that my family chose Fenwick for our Dad. The quality of care (personal, medical) my Dad receives everyday is outstanding. The residents eat home cooked meals in the dining room everyday. There is nothing institutional about the food or the decor. It feels and looks like home. The staff always addresses any questions or concerns I have promptly. I am always included in any decisions regarding my Dad. Fenwick Landing is always honest about any additional costs that may come up. Fenwick Landing is Waldorf’s best kept secret!!!

Saw at least 2 staff members with head down on mobile devices, braiding their own hair. One resident asked for medicine, stating she was in pain, had to ask three times before she was attended to. I visited this facility for almost 2 hours, one resident was not moved, offered a snack, water or companionship the entire time. While great music was playing consistently in the background, staff seemed to be entertaining each other more than residents. The dining area is neat and well laid out however over shadowed by the smell of urine and or feces. I will not reccommend anyone I care about to this facility and it is only my opinion that more experienced staff are hired here for a better outcome and look to visitors. When I left, dinner was being served on time, the cook seemed more socially interactive more than staff placed on the floor for resident care. The rooms are small but, are appropriate for the population. I would encourage more hospital type beds for this facility, one bed located on dagsboro unit was lower than my knee cap. Beautiful waterfall located on premises outside, l would recommend staff take smoke breaks in their vehicles or in the back of facility. Before I signed out I felt I had to make sure my loved one was you later as it was not offered during my entire stay.
