I stayed at Lorien last summer for almost a week. I experienced a terrible reaction to a medication a doctor prescribed for me. At home I had fallen 8 times in 4 days, luckily not breaking any bones. The food we had was absolutely delicious. In fact, I sent a note to the chef complimenting him. I participated in Bingo a lot. The activity director was wonderful! The nursing staff was awesome!! They would do anything for you. The head nurse on night duty went out of her way to help me with a skin problem I had. The daytime staff was so good to me and kept me laughing to lift my spirits. If I had to be somewhere like this, I am so glad my husband chose TT Lorien for me!

We toured Lorien Taneytown. I liked the fact that my father-in-law would have his own room. I liked the fact that they have residents there that kind of have formed a group to help welcome everybody. They'll try to get them more involved, which is something that he needs. Everybody was just so very friendly and it was very clean. The front staff was very nice. The lady that we did the tour with, Stacy, was just awesome, very friendly, told us all the information we needed, helped figure out what we needed for the next steps, and just told us the whole process. It just made us feel very comfortable about how everything works. They have a menu that they get to choose off of, which I liked. They had a movie theater, exercise classes, bingo, and a lot of activities. They have an outdoor area where they can walk and sit, and they had the front porch where they can sit in rockers and talk.

I did not care for Lorien Taneytown. They let me sit for half an hour and wait after my appointment time, and I wasn't happy about that. It just didn't appeal to me. I couldn't really get a sense of the living atmosphere there. It's like everybody was closed up in their own room. We were just shown the dining room and an empty bedroom.

My sister is in the nursing home of Lorien Taneytown, and they have wonderful care. The food is delicious, and it's extremely clean. The people are friendly and they have lots of activities for the residents. They do art, they have drawing, and they play all kinds of different games. They offer so many things. Also, they have little cookouts on the holidays, and they celebrate birthdays with ice cream, cake parties, and things like that. They have lots of help available and everyone's wonderful. The facility is beautiful and the price is reasonable compared to other places.

My mother is moving into Lorien Taneytown. We've had experience with Lorien before at one of their other facilities, so it was a natural to go here, but when I started talking to the people here, I feel like they were very concerned about my mom, and about my situation, and the fact that I was rushing around, so they really tried to expedite stuff for my own sake. I appreciated that. I've met two of the staff members in person now, the one in marketing was very, very sweet, they're all very young staff, but I felt like they were quite mature, and seemed experienced in elder care, understanding, and being compassionate for the elder people. It's very clean, very professional, and I was able to observe yesterday a daughter and an older mother sitting outside one of the windows on their porch obviously having a conversation with I'm guessing the older woman's husband. They were on their phones and looking through the window having a conversation, while they were doing that apparently the man inside had some problems with his phone, so she walked in and got somebody who went immediately and helped him with his phone so that they could resume their conversation. I was impressed with that and the way they're making provisions. There were no smells, and that's a biggie for me, it doesn't smell like an old people's house.

My mother moved into Lorien Taneytown and our experience so far is very good. Her accommodation is very nice (it's a one-bedroom). Their staff was excellent; they have been going above and beyond. There are lots for the residents to do, it's a very lively place, and it's very nice. There's a book club, bingo, karaoke, they have a happy hour where somebody comes in to sing eon Friday afternoons, they have a library, and they do exercise classes. That's just a few of their activities. Their dining room is lovely and my mother loves their food. Their variety is very good. They have a set menu, and if the residents don't want that they're free to order anything else.

My mom lived at the assisted living facility for two years. The facility itself is very nice, however the staff are overworked. Some are very caring but many just see it as a job. Many times my mom would ring her bell and have to wait 20 minutes for the aide. If she rang it again, they complained that she rang the bell too much. The administration is terrible and will charge you extra every chance they get. The highest level of care is no different than the lowest level of care, but it costs 3 times as much. The food started out as decent, but deteriorated after about a year. The activities are minimal and uninteresting. I would not recommend this facility if your parent needs any additional attention and cannot do things for themselves.

Lorien Taneytown seems upbeat. All the people that work there seem to treat the residents well. My mother has two friends that are also there. They have elevators in the building. There's a shopping center next door. It's new, and it's like a home. They have an exercise room, a movie theater, and a pub.

Fabulous care facility !!! My mother is there for the 3rd time in over 2 years. I would not, could not, send her any place else. All levels of Staff are friendly and caring. You can order your own meals if you don't like what they are serving that day. Nurses and Techs are very attentive. I don't mean to say everyone is perfect. People forget, get distracted, and are just plain busy at times. But, they are knowledgeable or they go find someone who can help you.

Lorien Taneytown is wonderful. They have activities. I was there yesterday, and they were playing Horseshoes in the lobby. The rooms are very spacious. My aunt has a 1-bedroom, so hers is really spacious. I have eaten there; the food is very good, and there is a wide selection. The people are very friendly, they help you and do what you need them to do, and they really work with me to make sure that my aunt is getting good care. They are very activity-oriented. They try to get the residents active, and they care about the residents. They know all the residents, and they have like 50 something people, but I can walk around, and everybody is calling everybody else by name. So they take the time to get to know their residents.

Nursing staff I have encountered are "just there": no smiles, little eye contact, little actual contact with patients. I've spoken to nurse's twice and both times received condescending attitudes. Nurse's aids are better, but it takes them so long to answer the call button my mother has not made it to the bathroom several times. She says she feels embarrassed and humiliated when that happens. Thank goodness my mom will be leaving soon and she will never rehab here again.

Lorien Taneytown was good. The rooms were sufficient for what we needed, and the staff was hospitable. The physical therapy room was fine and OK. The price is a little bit less, so it has better value, but it's a little far.

My mother is living in Lorien. She thinks the food is excellent. The staff is wonderful, and the quality of care is excellent. The apartment is clean, more than adequate, and she’s more than happy there.
