I like that Wilshire Estates Gracious Retirement Living caters to individuals who live there. I'm a football freak, and they said, 'We don't have a football group, but I'm sure that a lot of people would be interested in joining it if you wanted to start this kind of thing.' They have raised gardens that are waist-high. They had some people who had no idea how to do gardening, so they teamed them up with those who knew. We had had a huge snowstorm; however, the person who was supposed to do their snow plowing didn't show up. So Wilshire Estates went out, including the owners, and shoveled sidewalks so that people could drive in without issues. That impressed me. They not only cared for the people who live there, but they also cared for their employees. They provide everything. The only thing I would have to do is pay for my own phone and wash my clothes. If you can't wash your clothes, they have people that will do it for you. They provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Lunch is the biggest meal, and at dinnertime, they usually have sandwiches or something light. I seemed to connect with the person who was selling the place. Even though it was expensive, I was impressed. The unit that I was looking at had just been vacated. The staff said they would clean everything from top to bottom, and when they become available, they would do upgrades, too.

The best thing about Wilshire Estates Gracious Retirement Living would be the living areas and the resources they have there, like recreational stuff they do. They have a pool area, TV rooms, a movie theater, and gardens that the folks who live there can do. Their food is not very good though. The offerings are not good, and sometimes they're not prepared well. My mother-in-law lived there and she moved out because of the cost and the poor food service. I was there for Christmas Day and they were giving the residents chicken salad box lunches on Christmas Day, and it was just awful. The staff members are pretty good though.

My friend moved to Wilshire Estates Gracious Retirement Community. I like that it is convenient and the staff is very helpful. It offers a good meal arrangement and it's convenient for people who are somewhat mobile. It's very well laid out. It's only about three and a half years old, too, and it's accessible. It has a very nice dining room. It's a very clean and well-kept facility. I liked the staff and the fact that the meals seemed to be very nutritious. They have a very nice dining room. They have beverages available 24/7, or pretty much during the day, up until maybe 7:00 or 8:00 at night. They have a number of garden patios and you have a little deck attached to each apartment. They have a nice garden atmosphere. They offer religious services periodically, a couple of times a month, hair services/beauty salons, and stuff like that. They also have a movie theater, a library, and entertainment room. It consists of about four floors. They have an elevator to get people to and from.

I got to visit Wilshire Estates Gracious Retirement Living. It was new, the lady I talked to was very nice and the place had a lot of things going on. They had new apartments, a good floor plan, good parking, and an easy-to-find location. They also had good choices that my friend could make about what he wanted, like if he wanted to fix his own meals he can, and if he didn't want to, he didn't have to. The staff we spoke to were caring and they took a lot of time with us. They did not know if we were going to be living there or not, and they just spent a lot of time answering questions and showing us around the place. They had more than he needs. They had lots of rooms, lots of games, and lots of exercises, so they had all that my friend would need. The facilities looked nice and brand-new.

Wilshire Estates Gracious Retirement Living was a very nice community. The one that interviewed me was very helpful, very kind, and answered all my questions. The rooms were very nice. Everything's in there. If I want to do my own cooking, I can, but they have prepared food. They provide some activities. They do some sort of painting and some ceramic activities if they want to do it themselves. I didn't meet any other staff except the receptionist and the one who's in charge of showing the community.

My mother is a resident of Wilshire Estates Gracious Retirement Living and the place is great. They have three meals a day as part of the package for living there. They have quality food, it's very clean, and the people are very helpful and willing to assist in any way possible with the seniors. The seniors all seem very relaxed and comfortable and happy. It's not cheap, it's expensive but it's meeting all the needs my mom has. My mom is involved in quite a bit of the activities, and she seems to enjoy them. They have movie nights that they do twice a week, they have their own movie theater inside the facility and they have movie gatherings. They do bingo, exercise programs where you can either do the exercises in chairs or stand, however you wanna do it. They have their own shuttle bus that takes patients to the doctors every Tuesday, they go to the food market on Fridays, and then they also go to places like Target. So they would have outings, they go to restaurants, and they have a lot more activities.
