It's been two weeks now since my dad moved into Sunrise of Columbia. I like the appearance of it and the activities they said they're going to have. The people who run the place are excellent. They haven't done a lot because of the virus, but they have games and independent things to do in their rooms. They also have an entertainment room, and they do the laundry for the residents. His room has a very nice view, too. The staff seemed to be extremely caring and kind. It's only about ten minutes away from me, so it's in a great location.

Sunrise of Columbia was the same as the others I went to. It was more expensive though, and I was surprised about that. They're a smaller facility, but the people were very friendly. The staff during the tour was very nice and very helpful. He seemed to sort of be about selling it, but he was OK. The rooms were very spacious and nice. We looked at the dining area. They were having some kind of wine and cheese or food event. I grabbed a mozzarella stick and it tasted like what you buy at Costco's. Their dining area looked kind of similar to the other place, not as fancy, but it was nice. I could tell they got regular food for people to eat, but it was well presented. The staff was friendly. The place was very nice. There were lots of space, but it seemed a little crowded. They charge more to get in. The thing that made the place nice wasn't so much the sales guy, but the fact that the people in the place were very welcoming and very friendly and were like, "Oh, this is a lovely place to stay. You'd like it here." The people there were very welcoming and very active. They're doing renovations and updates and they looked to be very nice.

Sunrise of Columbia is good in a lot of ways. They have good programs. The med techs are good at giving out medicines. Their activities director is good. I like the word activities the best. The crosswords and words in a word and things like that. They have music programs that a lot of people love. The dining room is very clean. They have an area that is a TV room and an area that is good for conversations. They have a van for taking people to doctor's appointments within a certain distance and for activities. It's just expensive here.

We toured Sunrise of Columbia. The layout was perfectly fine. But after visiting them, we didn't fit the assisted living part. The grounds were clean. The room was very nice, and the staff was accommodating. In terms of activities, I think they had a pretty full agenda. They had a pool, too. The staff who accommodated us were very good.

Sunrise of Columbia was very stately. There's a lot of old, dark woods. It's a very warm environment. It's an older property, but the rooms were clean and spacious. When we got there, some of the residents were getting on a bus and they were going to a restaurant. The dining area had a rustic look. It's very comforting. The staff members were very friendly, professional, and extremely knowledgeable.

Sunrise of Columbia is very clean and very well staffed. It was not something that we could afford. It was one of my top choices. The staff was very friendly. Everybody was very friendly. I did not try the food, but they had baking group; it looked good. It is kind of centrally located in Colombia, but it was a little too far for us.

Sunrise of Columbia seemed like a very welcoming community and the people were very friendly and anxious to meet my mom and to introduce her around. It was very clean and bright, and the apartments that we saw were in very good condition.

Sunrise of Columbia was the best that I saw. I was really impressed with the place, but they were more expensive than the others. The senior staff was topnotch. They're very experienced people. It's a beautiful place. If they were closer, I could've easily chosen them. They have activities going on with some people leading them, and the people were involved in it. They were not just sitting or watching TV. It's a very beautiful facility.

I like the layout of Sunrise of Columbia. It requires less walking, which was a big selling point for my mother. Everyone is very nice and helpful, and the people that live there seem to be happy. They have card games, crafts, music, singing, shows, and they also have auctions. My mom has been happy with their food because they have different choices. So if you don't like the entree, you have other choices. I would rate their activities a four because other places have more activities, but that's maybe because they have more residents. The main staff or the leads of the different areas I would rate a five, but there have been cases with other staff members which would make my rating a little bit lower, so I would rate the staff overall a four. My mom doesn't really need a lot of care, but she gets what she needs. They have weekly housekeeping so her room has been very clean, and they do weekly laundry so she doesn't have any issues with that. She's on the first floor and I saw a couple of ants, but they addressed that and took care of that immediately. She also had a problem with the air conditioning when she started and they replaced the whole unit, so we were very happy with that.

We liked Sunrise of Columbia for my mother-in-law. We're happy with everything. They have regular activities. They go out to eat lunch sometimes, they have exercise classes, and some live music. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and professional.

Sunrise of Columbia is nice and clean. The staff is friendly and the food is good. My dad likes it. They have exercising and a walking club. They try to get them out as often as possible. It's so expensive though.

Sunrise of Columbia's staff was very nice. The location was very close and comfortable for me. The place looked very well-maintained, and I didn't notice anything that looked like it was not taken care of. The people seem to be OK.

If I could have been able to afford it, Sunrise of Columbia would have been the one I’ve chosen. The staff that I talked to was very cordial. She even allowed me to talk to some of the residents, and everybody had nice things to say. They were just people who were just passing by. They introduced me to the person and told me that I could ask them any questions I would want to ask. So I asked them questions, and they answered freely. They were very well pleased with the arrangements there. The living quarters were very nice, and I had lunch there that day, which was also very nice. They had different people from different departments come by who explained to me what their position was. They were in the process of renovating the facility, so there was construction going on, but you could still feel the warmth that you received. It was a very pretty place.

Sunrise was fine, and I really thought it was good and pretty decent. I saw nothing wrong with them, and the people were very friendly. They were undergoing some renovations, but everything else was really nice. The rooms were really large and spacious, which I really like as well.

Sunrise of Columbia was great. My grandmother lived there for many years, and we were happy with it. The food was fantastic, the care was wonderful, and everything that she needed was there. Everybody was very welcoming. My grandmother lived on the third floor; that's where the Alzheimer's section was. They cared about her safety. They also made sure she was bathed and had clean clothes on. The people there really did look out for her.

This home was wonderful. The workers seem to treat the residents like family. The home was clean and comfortable. What I liked best was that the employees knew the residents by name which tells me they interact frequently. I only wish my family and I could afford to place my dad here.

The room in Sunrise was smaller than where she was before, but it’s bigger than some of the other places we looked, which is good. The staff was very friendly and very professional.

I really liked Sunrise of Columbia. Despite the fact that it was in a metropolitan area, you would not feel that you were close to the city, which would be something that my mother would enjoy. It was clean and did not feel like a nursing home. It was more like living in a bed and breakfast. It was very nice. I do not have anything bad to say about it. I was not able to do a food tasting, but they showed us the menu, and everything looked good. The dining hall area was really nice. We saw some rooms that were in good shape. The woman who gave us the tour was really nice and obviously very knowledgeable about the place. It seemed like there was a lot of different things to do. They had a small walking path, which would be something my mother would want.

My first impression of Sunrise of Columbia was that it was well-maintained and attractive. It looked like a pleasant place. My room is OK. It is adequate. The food is good; but it is not as fat-free as I would like it. It seems to have a little more fat in it than I really care for. The dining room is very spacious. It is also pleasant and clean. They have a lot of activities. They go out to different restaurants for lunch. They also take them out on the country ride. There are activities here in the building where they bring in entertainers, and they have exercise programs.

We did not think that the physical therapy department at Sunrise of Columbia was quite up to what the other facility had offered. I would still give them a 5-star rating. They were excellent. I do not think they would not provide what people need. It was just that our emphasis was on socialization and physical therapy. Other patients or residents who do not have that emphasis would be very happy there.

We really liked Sunrise a lot because the people were super friendly and attentive to the residents. I thought the layout of the facility was well set up for the residents. Here's the thing that I really liked with this -- they stress with the residents that if they needed anything for them to press their attendant call button, and those are the reasons that we really liked them. They bring in entertainment from the outside, and they have musical things and what have you. I believe they bring in pets like therapy animals and what not. I know that they have physical therapy and occupational therapy that will actually come there to the facility to work with the residents. They've got games and activities, and they may have exercise classes and stuff like that. I also know that they take them on trips outside to various restaurants and points of interest. The only reason why we didn't go with Sunrise was the price. What really impressed me about them was that everyone associated with the Sunrise facility really seems to enjoy what they are doing, and they enjoy helping the residents.

We visited Sunrise of Columbia, and we were very pleased with the facility. The staff was wonderful, and we saw the staff interacting with the residents. They seemed to have a good ratio of staff to residents. We were pleased with the activities that they offered and the kind of a homey feel to Sunrise.

My visit at Sunrise of Columbia was wonderful. They were all very courteous and very kind. They gave me a lot of information. They allowed me to tour the facility and speak directly to the caregivers and staff. The sales manager was outstanding. Everything was completely fine. It's just too expensive. We would have two parents, and the total cost for both of them per month would have been $11,000 or more. We can't pay that. I didn't believe the response time for the caregiver. They said it would be between 5 and 12 minutes. I don't see how that can be possibly true, especially if your accommodations were at the end of a very long hallway. The hallways there were very long. If those caregivers are engaged somewhere else, it is not possible for them to respond in 5 to 12 minutes. That claim was not realistic. It was a lovely facility with lovely people and a lovely program. I just think it was not adequate for what we needed and too expensive for what we could afford.

I had high expectations with Sunrise of Columbia. It is an upscale facility, and it's expensive. But I really did not feel looking at the rooms as if that was completely justified. I wasn’t as impressed by the man who talked to us. I don’t know; it was just the feeling I got about the place. I just felt like he wasn’t maybe as tuned in to what I was looking for as the woman at the other facility I went to. Their dining room looked impressive, but I didn’t eat there. I only saw the rooms once, and I didn’t feel that it was significantly superior to the other facility to warrant the amount of extra money that they were charging. I also didn’t get the same explanation as to the ability to move care levels and the medical staff that was available to the people. Maybe he didn’t explain it or I didn’t answer her questions, but I would say it was more evident.

This is a beautiful assisted living facility right in the heart of Columbia, Maryland. My grandmother began staying at the facility 10 months ago, and I have not seen her this happy in a very long time. Suffering from alzheimer's, it is beneficial to her to have a full time trained staff, around the clock. She attends daily activities with her peers and enjoys the amount of care she is given. The staff there even does her laundry once a week! I always remember her being a fairly picky eater; however, she always talks about the amount of options there are when it comes to dining. Receives three meals a day and sometimes decides to snack on other items! I live close to the area so it is beneficial for me to be able to visit her frequently. The facility has no visiting hours, but only because you can visit whenever you'd like! Great for my hectic schedule. Overall, I give this facility a 100 percent.
