I visited Commonwealth Senior Living at Cockeysville. It was a great location on a very busy York road, but it was tucked behind a row of trees. It was like a rural setting, but it was right in the middle of a suburban area. They have very spacious rooms. It was a small facility for 15 people. They have a community dining area. They had one building that was assisted living, and then across the driveway was a second facility that was for memory care. We saw the assisted living.

We did a virtual and in-person tour of Commonwealth Senior Living at Cockeysville. I was very impressed with the type of security they had, especially with COVID, and how they took your temperature and asked you questions. They had state-of-the-art security and that was very impressive. The facility has two houses, one for memory care and one for assisted living. They seemed a little shorthanded the day we were there because our tour director had to keep stopping and going and helping residents. They did follow up, they called to see if we would be interested, but by then I'd already had a doctor's appointment with my mother's doctor and he had really kind of pushed hard to see about rethinking putting her in a senior home. We went to see the memory care but the tour director assured us that both memory and assisted living buildings were very alike. We did not have an opportunity to see any activities, but based on the equipment that I saw there, I was a little concerned about it.

It was my first time to CSLC to visit my Mom; it was a surprise for her birthday! As I rounded the bend onto the property, a calm euphoria enveloped me: the beautiful trees and foliage, the sun shining through onto the quaint, welcoming surroundings. They have a great security system in place. Upon entering, I felt like I was walking into a friend's home, so warm and inviting with aesthetic modern décor. I was greeted by residents and staff, and they directed me to my Mom's room. The door was open and I spied my brother standing, arranging flowers, and he turned and nodded, and I greeted my Mom, so surprised was she. I had a great visit over that weekend! I was able to meet some of the wonderful and attentive staff. Yes, these individuals are my Mom's caretakers, however, it became clear that they are much more. I thank everyone for all they do to make sure Mom has everything she needs. I give a shout-out to Keke, Tia, Megan, Tavonne, and Marcus and Mary. My family is so grateful to CSLC. Mom is truly blessed to be surrounded by patient, compassionate, empathetic and caring people. Thank you so much.

I toured Commonwealth Senior Living at Cockeysville. They have two units and I toured both. It was very good. Their facility is cozy and well-organized. It seemed like a friendly environment. The staff were friendly and informative. The rooms were nice. It's conveniently located, too. However, it seemed like there was some updates that were needed, like the carpet was worn. It just needed a refresh.

I went to the Commonwealth Senior Living at Cockeysville. It wasn't a place where I wanted to have my father live based on his high level of activity. It was too sedentary. It wasn't vibrant enough, and it was very sedentary. They said most residents that go there don't leave until they die. It wasn't a good place. They didn't have sufficient common areas space for the participants to actually gather, like different rooms with TVs and activity areas. They just had one little small area. I liked that the rooms were very large. The sales director was excellent, knowledgeable, and personable. I did meet a couple directors and coordinators, and they were very friendly. It was just one visit, and I was a visitor. The facility was nice, but I didn't see much of what they had to offer, other than just a place for the residents to eat and a small little area with no TV. There were no activities going on at the time that I was there. It appeared that the residents more than likely will spend more of their time in their rooms, as opposed to being able to go out.

We toured Commonwealth Senior Living, and I think it was a very pretty facility. The rooms were very nice. It's just that the people there looked really old, and it looked more like a nursing home. It seemed constricted; they're actually in lockdown. The doors are locked, and those people can't walk out into the grounds by themselves. That's just like a nursing home. The other residents that we saw looked kind of slumped over and in wheelchairs. They just looked like a much older community. It was pretty, attractive, and clean. But you did not get that warm, fuzzy feel at all. Everything cost extra, and it was pretty expensive to begin with. Even with the furniture, you either had to bring your own, or you could rent it. It cost to do laundry; it cost for everything. It was like an à la carte place. You have to share a bathroom. You can upgrade to a room with your own private bath, but that's more and we're on a very tight budget. The staff was friendly, but I wasn't bowled over. It was a nice facility, but it just wasn't for us. It was more modern, but I just didn't get that warm, friendly feeling.

I went to Commonwealth Senior Living at Cockeysville and toured the assisted living. They also gave me a tour of their memory care unit, so that I could see it. They are basically two buildings. There were 16 beds each. I like that if memory care will be an issue at some point in my dad's life, that option is available for him; he will be a first priority to go over there. Right now, they have an abundance of beds in memory care. My only concern is this is the third owner in 15 years, and it looks like they've been a little behind in keeping up with the maintenance side. The carpet was very much in need of replacement. Although they explained that they hoped to do some upkeep before, there was just no money given that COVID came. They needed to divert those funds to providing training and personal protective equipment to their staff, which I understand. It looks like probably even before COVID hit, their carpet needed replacing already. That just didn't happen last year. It made me wonder what else is going on that might be neglected. There was a leak in the ceiling while we were there. It was quite a rainstorm that we had all day yesterday, so there was an active leak. They either need repainting or replacing, as some of the refrigerators looked old too. It was generally clean, but they needed to make sure maintenance issues were addressed. The staff that I met were very friendly, and I got to meet the chef. He was very interested in our personal preferences for my dad, as he has some dietary restrictions. I saw the lunches on the menu, and they looked appetizing. They also had a water dispenser on both sides for fresh water with a tray of snacks (like cookies, granola bars, breakfast bars, and chips). There were snacks readily available in the common area. It's a very small community, which I really liked because the personal attention would be enough to the residents.

My visit with Commonwealth Senior Living was very good. Meg was very friendly, she hadn't been there a long time, so some of the questions she hadn't encountered situations yet, but she was very friendly. It was a very small place, they only had seven residents in the memory care at that point, and my husband is a very outgoing person, friendly guy, and he likes lots of people. The room was nice, it was a very nice size.

It was kind of small. They have maybe about 16 residents in the assisted living building. They also have memory care building. We went through the assisted living. The people were nice. The rooms were entirely too small, that's the only drawback. We visited one room and a lady had it so nicely laid out, but it's just too small for two people. I had an excellent tour guide, she was very knowledgeable. The whole place was very small, but it's a close knit community, and the residents get along well with each other. The place is clean. When we got there, there was group of people sitting around in circles and there was a guy who was bouncing the ball to them, so they were getting their exercise. They have many rooms where you can go and do certain things.
