I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother-in-law was at Complete Care at Annapolis, which is more than an hour away from my house. It's in the Annapolis City location, so parking was just a small lot, and so I parked on the street most of the time. It wasn't easy to access from that point of view. Everything was kind of lockdown as far as going in. You couldn't just walk in, you had to be buzzed in, which made it feel a little more dangerous there. That was the vibe that my husband and I got. And as soon as you walk in, you're hit with the smell of urine. The facility is kind of in a C-shape, and my mother-in-law was at the other end of the C. So you had to log in, go up and around, and over and down. My mother-in-law was at the other end of things, so every time, we had to walk through people in wheelchairs, you might get stuck behind a row of wheelchairs and stuff like that. So it was a little forgo while you're taking in all the sense of smell and whatever else. It felt more like a dirty hospital, which is the best way to put it. But the rehab itself was fantastic. The rehab person was great, but everybody else was sort of so-so. And the facility was very rundown. My mother-in-law was in a shared room, too.

My family is very disappointed with this facility. My sister's care was, in my opinion, based on what we learned after she had to be admitted to the hospital, inadequate. She developed a bed sore so large and infected that she became septic. I'm not sure how this happens when they are being cared for daily but I wouldn't want it to happen to anyone else's loved ones. Please consider this when making a decision about a facility.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mom passed away last July. Before she passed, she was at Bay Ridge. I'm not impressed at all with that center. I don't think their staff were very caring people. The staff there doesn't seem to be that professional to me. This nursing home can be the worst, not because of the facility itself, but because of the staff in my opinion. I wouldn't recommend them at all.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I am pleased with Bay Ridge Health Care Center. We just have some issues concerning communication. I've been playing cat and mouse with the social worker trying to find out what's going on and what's the progress about our Medicare coverage but we haven't heard anything about it. They used to tell me everything about my mom once a week. But now I haven't heard anything for the last three weeks so I put in several calls and they just put in the call to the nurse. When I ask the nurse how she is doing, she always say that she is doing fine. I want to know what's going on. I want more detailed information. I want every department to call me and tell me everything about her condition. I think they should communicate with the families on a regular basis.
