My friend, who is mentally incapacitated and cannot take care of himself, was living at this facility and had been there for seven years. On July 3, 2020, he experienced some anger and possibly hallucinations and was taken to the local hospital, who did not find anything wrong with him and sent him back to this facility. This facility's administrator decided it was a good idea to take him to a larger hospital, 90 miles away, give him his walker, told him to get out of the car and go into the emergency room and tell the doctor his name and that he did not feel good. When he got out of the car, she drove away and left him there. Thankfully, he knew his name and had been to the larger hospital previously for treatment and his family was contacted. This assisted living facility in Machias is refusing to allow him to come back there as a resident. When I picked up my friend's belongings from this facility, some of his clothing, which I had purchased, is missing and some of it is very soiled and dirty. This facility, and the administrator, should be fined and lose their professional licenses to operate. Anyone who has a family member currently residing at this facility should pay close attention to their care. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

We had looked at Davis Estates, and he was on the waiting list. There’s only a choice of two here in the area. My father has a private room, but it’s all contained within one building. It’s just more like a nursing home. He has only been there about a month; I would say they’re good. He can be kind of difficult as far as self-motivation; they can try to motivate him, but he is not real self-motivated to do activities that they offer. So a lot of times if we’re not checking on him every day or two, he tends to stay in his room a lot. They offer a lot of activities, but he doesn’t join in. They try and work with us to try to get him out there in the dining room and things like that for socializing, I would say they’re good. The food seems fine.
