I toured The Heron House. The facilities were shared, and the rooms were shared. It didn't seem big enough for my large husband. The thing that's holding me back would be, that I just had the feeling that there weren't enough staff. They do have a library, and it's a community space. I didn't get the idea though that those who were in the memory care unit had free access to the library. They're in a locked situation. I think that my husband in particular was very interested in privacy and a private bathroom with a shower. They thought it was a fall risk, and that they have their residents sort of go down the hall and use the common shower. So that wasn't good.

The Heron House was a very homey, welcoming place. The owner seemed lovely and very nice. The rooms were very clean. I was quite impressed with it. It looked like there was new carpeting and nice new half bath fixtures. Just that my mother-in-law wanted a private bath, a and the shower they had was shared with 8 to 10 of the residents.

My relative is now in The Heron House and I'm happy with it. It's a smaller community and I like the fact that it's owner-occupied, and not one of these conglomerates. The staff is excellent and they have activities. I think it's a good buy. It's cheaper than the others that I've looked at, and as I can see, it's got better care than some of the big ones, and some of them had much less staff. They're an excellent value. It's a private lot, outside they've got raised beds for gardening, they've got planters on the porch that the residents can see and work on. They've also got decks on both sides of the building and they've got walking paths around the building. They have a central kitchen area and a central dining area.

The private rooms are pleasant and each room has a private bathroom. The staff is friendly, and always willing to help out. Good communication between the owners and family. Nice small community atmosphere.

The Heron House provided a safe, comfortable and peaceful place for my dad to reside. Every staff member at The Heron House was kind, compassionate and welcoming. I knew from the day that he moved in he would be treated with respect and cared for as though he was a family member of any of the staff. The space was more like a home rather than a facility setting. The rooms were clean and cozy and the shared space was bright and welcoming. The communication was more than I could have asked for. I was always able to speak with staff or the owners and was able to get a full report on a daily basis if wanted. I would highly recommend The Heron House for anyone who is in need of care but wants a place that feels like home.

My in-law was welcomed to the Heron House, and staff does whatever they can do to make her comfortable . The level of caregiving is very high. Meals are very important to seniors and every effort is made to provide nutritious DELICIOUS meal.s. The chef goes out of their way to provide special requests. The Heron House is a comfortable, relaxed environment. Activities like Bingo and music are available. The family-like atmosphere is warm and welcoming.

Heron House offers a safe haven for my mother, who has dementia. She has been a resident for a year and a half, and has settled in very well. She has made friends with some other residents and is cared for by the very capable staff. On one of my visits, I saw one of the new owners filling in as cook. On another visit, I got to participate in the exercise session with my mother and other residents. It was a blast!
