My mom is in Quarry Hill. It is a nice facility. They keep the grounds, buildings, and insides very clean and well maintained. The staff is really good, friendly, and attentive. They are challenged by COVID restrictions like everybody else, so it's been tough on the residents not having group activities. But as far as the care, condition, staff, and facility, it's all very good. When they can, they have group activities, and it varies with people's ability level. They do games and bus trips occasionally when the weather is good. They have little cooking classes, other little games, and movies. Quarry Hill is probably the best one in Knox County. Facility-wise, it's the nicest. The cost is just expensive.

We were happy at the beginning, but after many years at Quarry Hill our loved one was moved out of Quarry Hill. At meetings with staff we were told many times that they wanted to keep her on the assisted living floor because she was familiar with staff and area, even thought she needed more care and should have been moved to nursing care. We listened to what they recommended . She had been having many falling episodes and another one occurred the week following our last meeting with staff. With this one she hit her head affecting her sight. After that we were told that she required too much assistance and needed to be moved. They said there was no rooms available at the time and that she would need to move to another facility. This is after years of being told that it would be too disruptive to her to be moved. This was during covid where we were unable to see her to comfort her. She was moved to another facility that she was unfamiliar with the staff and her surrounding. At that time her sight was almost gone, her hearing was very little and she was confused much of the time. We could not help move her so her items were packed up in boxes with her clothes in trash bags and moved to a new, strange place. I would not wish this treatment on anyone, especially a loved one. Our family was very disappointed and sad with the treatment our loved one received. We thought they were a caring facility and wanted the best for their clients. They proved us wrong.

My partner was once on Quarry Hill for respite. When we got there the bed wasn't made and there were no curtains on the windows, so I have some negative feelings about the place. They have a pleasant dining area, although it wasn't exceptional. The care was alright, and the staff tries hard, but my partner was there over a week and they never gave them a bath.

We visited the assisted living level of Quarry Hill. The overall ambiance of the place is very good, very clean, and doesn't smell. They have 24-maintenance, 24-hour CNAs, and a medical director. For what we were looking at, it was very nice and appropriate. They also have cottages for people who want to buy into the community, and I think it has a great location and had a nice feel to it. I looked at what they had for the activities and people could sign up to be taken to the stores or to different restaurants around the area for breakfast. They also bring people in for musical evenings, have games nights and speakers come in, and have wine nights. It's good that they have a medical director on-site. I talked to a couple of residents who seemed very happy. Our only concern is that their largest apartment is too small and my in-laws sleep together in a queen-sized bed, but there's no room for that in there. The bathroom is fully functional for disabled people. For the amount they are charging, I thought the dining room could be a little fancier.

I have been to Quarry Hill. I like it very much. I felt good that they have apartments of different sizes and different costs, although I wish they had more meals to offer. The location seems nice. It seems to be in a park-like setting, and I’m used to living out in the country, so for me, that’s the feeling. I like the friendliness that I found there.

My mother had dementia and lived the last 6 years of her life in assisted living and final a nursing home. Quarry Hill in camden Maine, has an excptional assisted living facility. They were just fantastic with my Mother, who in the begining was kind of a handful to say the least. But they did a lot of one on one with her, the activities person would take my mother to deliver mail and newspaper throughout the facility. They even got a carpet sweeper for her so she could feel like she was being useful. These may seem like little things, but its these things are what made every day a happier one for my mother. My mothers dementia finally progressed and it was time to go to the next level of care. Knox Center in Rockland Maine was where she went. At first it was hard. The nursing home residents require more care, but with the same number of staf. This was a huge thing for me to get use to. I didnt like the nursing home at first, I didnt like the idea that she wasnt getting the attention I thought she deserved. Mom did fall and break her hip, normal for this type of nursing home. Unfortunatley this was the beginig of the end for my Mother. 2 years later she passed. During her passing the staff at Knox was very respectful of our privacy with our mother. All in all our experience at knox was ok. Id only give Knox 3 stars. I wish mom could have stayed at quarry hill, I would give them 6 out of 5 stars.

The staff and services were great. Emergencies were always responded to. Maintenance was on the ball and the lawn/landscaping always looked sharp. There were sweeping fields of grass and the houses were placed far enough apart. The units themselves were fairly nice on the inside, with radiant heat flooring and decent kitchens. There was wall-too-wall carpet in each room that was thick, fluffy, and soft. Windows were spaced in a way that always let the warm daylight in, although the halls could get pretty dark. Interior construction was high quality, with thick walls and high ceilings, but the design provided hallways that were a bit too narrow. The provided lighting was a little gross looking because it was fluorescent, however the house was nice and cozy with table lamps turned on. The only real gripe I had was with the exterior--it was a bit tacky. The unit was painted an unnatural, gaudy yellow hue with white trim. The whole thing was vinyl sided which made gave it the appearance of being fake and cheap. The living experience at least was good though.
