I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom moved into Solstice Senior Living at Bangor. We chose it because it's the first one that was available for private pay. My mom's apartment is an efficiency, and it is nice. The staff members are fine. It's just a wide and open community. If you want to associate, you can. If you want to go into your room, you can. It kind of works out for everybody. A lot of people still drive and bring their cars. If you don't want to eat their meal, you can go out and get a meal. It's three meals a day. The upkeep is pretty good. Everybody is pretty easy to work with. You ask for something, and they pretty much do it for you.

I visited this facility

I recently toured Solstice several times with my father who was considering moving into one of these Independent Living Apartments. I loved everything about this community. At the time of our visits, they had just completed a total interior renovation of the facility and it was beautiful! It was obvious that the people living there were friendly, happy and always busy with the endless options of activities to participate in. Bev was extremely helpful and understanding throughout this process, and it was clear that she has a great relationship with the residents and staff. While my father chose not to move at this time, I would have been thrilled at the prospect of him living at Solstice!

Everything at Solstice Senior Living at Bangor is beautiful. I would love to have my mom stay there. Unfortunately, the price was a little too high. My mom can't really walk, so she needs another place that could help her more. The staff who gave the tour did a wonderful job though. She gave us a pamphlet that had all the information, and she said we can call her anytime for any more questions. With regards to activities, there's a little library, and a little area where they can sit down if they want to watch a movie. They have a gaming room that has a pool table and a poker table. We saw people were doing a puzzle, and they had an area where they could hang out. It was great. They had a little post office kind of thing, too.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your positive experience at Solstice at Bangor! Your recommendation and feedback mean a lot to us, have a great day!

I am/was a resident of this facility

We're living in Solstice Senior Living at Bangor. There are people here that are very nice. We all have our own apartments, but yet we're like one big family and I like that because I'm a people person. They have cornhole and my husband loves that. I like the Scrabble game. They have bingo and other things here. They always have entertainers coming in to play the piano or the guitar or just sing. Our apartment is beautiful and warm. If there's sunshine, we get it from the time it rises until it sets down. We have two bedrooms and two baths. The food could be improved a little bit, but as a whole, it's healthy. It's independent living. I can stay in my room and if I'm not able to get down for a meal, they will send one up for me. The staff could be a little bit better. They get a few new ones in and then in a couple of weeks, they're gone. They're having problems, just like every other business, keeping staff. The price is comparable to every other place we've investigated.

Solstice Senior Living at Bangor was very welcoming and friendly. It was set up kind of like a cruise ship. So, it's very fun-oriented. It's going to be the one my mom will be going with. They have a full list of fun activities every day. They provide three meals a day, they have access to a chapel, a pay-as you-go hair salon, PT personnel onsite that you can hire, and a walking path.

I visited this facility

Solstice Senior Living at Bangor seemed like a very active, happy place. A lot of people were sitting outside and chatting. Several people had personal pets. There was a band playing when we went in. The lady who ran the place knew everybody's name and everybody knew her. The residents all seemed really happy and engaged. They have a lot of activities. They have get-togethers every Friday night, a library that's run by the residents, a well-stocked gym, and several different types of rooms available. The facility is very bright and welcoming. They have several different types of meal options. Residents have their own vehicles. Just for our needs, that would probably be the one we chose.

I visited this facility

I had an in-person tour of Solstice Senior Living at Bangor. I saw the food that they were giving out, and it didn't look appetizing at all. The food was very bland. The physical appearance of the facility was okay. There was nothing great and nothing horrible. The cleanliness is good. The staff was very nice. The dining area was nice and clean. They had tables and everything. They have entertainment and trips to doctor's appointments.

Provider Response

Good afternoon, Jim. Thank you for the feedback. An associate will be reaching out to you in the coming days.

I visited this facility

I visited Solstice Senior Living at Bangor. The community was very nice. It was very clean. All the people were very nice. The people living there seem to be very happy getting around. The only problem that I had was, that I have a mass, and I walk with two canes. They didn't have any wheelchairs for people that were coming in to visit. Probably, people should have their own but didn't and the places that they were showing were very far away. They were long-distance haul to walk to get to them. The rooms were very nice, very clean. I would highly suggest it. You're pretty much on your own as far as living. It's an independent living area, and you are required to take care of the trash in your room. You get served three meals a day, do your own laundry, or your relatives, if they come in to visit, can take them down to the laundry room and do them. There's no charge for laundry as far as the washing machine. You don't have to have quarters or anything like that, but you do have to have somebody to do it for you.

My mom is in Solstice Senior Living at Bangor and everything's really good. The people are very friendly, the ones that work there and the ones that live there. The apartments are nice and they have their meals. They have a lot going on, they have different things like bean bag toss, worship services, and bingo. They have outings like they get to go shopping or sign up and they can go see plays or different things outside of the community. They have worship services and they have something every day. The rooms are very nice and they're a good size. She can fit her living room set, her bedroom set, and her dining set in them. They have a nice bathroom too, a kitchen, living room, and bedroom. They have a library, a chapel, a dining area, and a movie theater. For the food, they get different choices.

My father has moved into Solstice Senior Living at Bangor. It has been amazing. We got him posted last week, and we moved him in. When I went back today to visit him, he was so much healthier and so much better. He's got a smile on his face, and they've just been amazing. He has an apartment and it's great. It has everything he needs. He has satellite TV and internet. It's very clean. They do a great job. They have a game room, an activity room, a beauty shop on site, and they have physical therapists. They have bingo, and they have music. They bring their schedule for a month at a time for their activities. My father likes the food, he just has to get comfortable with people around him, but people being around is good for him. I haven't found anything yet that has not made me happy. It's very clean. They all have keys to the door to get in the front once the staff has gone home because the doors are locked at a certain time every day. The staff have been amazing. They called me the first of couple days my father was there to give me an update on how they thought he was doing settling in. I would rate the value for money a 5 because they work also with the Veterans Program, which will help subsidize their rent. I would highly recommend them.

My aunt moved into Solstice Senior Living at Bangor. It's beautiful inside. Everybody that works there is very friendly. My aunt has only been there less than a month. Housekeeping has already been there. They have maintenance come in to help my aunt, like hang up a few things and fix her TV. Everything's been good so far. They do offer three meals. My aunt says the food is really good, and she likes the food. My aunt loves to play bingo. She went to a special luncheon for the new people that moved in, and she liked that because she got to see new people. When we moved in, everything was brand new; there was nothing wrong. The refrigerator and cabinets were brand new. They have a lot of different activities.

I visited this facility

I liked Solstice Senior Living at Bangor. I took a tour and I was impressed. I liked how the staff was also familiar with the people living there. They're interacting with them on a first-name basis. I had looked at floor plans ahead of time, but after the tour, I was impressed with the rooms, and my dad could move into like a studio apartment type living with its own little deck on the second floor and they get a walkway that goes all the way around the building, a quarter-mile walkway. This is Maine, so everything gets buried in snow and ice for way too many months out of the year, but they maintain the walkway so that the people living there can go out every day and walk around on that tired path, going all the way around the facility. It's good to get out and get some fresh air and know that you'll be safe while you do it. They have a beautiful atrium that rises the full three stories of the building, and they have entertainment where someone will come in for example, and play the piano on the ground floor, and residents on all three floors can come to the railings and look down and enjoy. They even had a dance that she was telling me about, where people on all three levels were dancing, or listening to the music, coming together and socializing, which is so important when you're at that age when you want to feel a part of a community and you're still part of something. It is an independent living, third-party services are provided, depending on what you might need above and beyond independent living. So if you need medication administration, you can arrange for that. They have housekeeping included. They have three meals a day included, which is awesome because my dad was married for fifty years, he does not cook anything, and he would starve to death. That works for him too. The staff was knowledgeable. They were very friendly. I know it's a job, they have to be there and all that to get paid for their living, but they seem to be enjoying their careers and that's important in that environment. They do publish their menus, the menu was published one week at a time at the beginning of the week so that the residents know three meals a day for the next 21 meals. They know exactly what they're getting and what their choices are. And that's important because as you get older, you like that structure, you like it to be predictable. They have alternatives.

Solstice Senior Living at Bangor was awesome. The staff was very knowledgeable of everything, and she was very helpful in showing everything around there. The facility was very clean. The people living there were very courteous and friendly. The atmosphere was very welcoming. The people there were awesome. The grounds were very nice, and they've got a quarter-mile walk around the place. They've got things that you can keep active with. It was an amazing place. They have a game room, movie room, gym area, and library. They have several balconies you can sit on, relax, and enjoy the sceneries in a crowded city. It was just all around a very welcoming place.

I toured Solstice Senior Living. It was very good. With COVID-19 going on we couldn't tour the whole place, but it was very nice. They met us outside. They took us around to the back of the building so we could get in and see one of the apartments and stuff. We weren't able to tour the whole place, but what we saw was very clean and very neat. It looked very nice. The people can come and go and everybody seemed to be happy. The staff couldn't give us a complete tour because of COVID; they're not allowing people in right now. It was a studio apartment that they have. They weren't able to show us the dining area or anything inside. We walked around the outside of the building and there was a nice lawn out back and a place where people could go outside and walk around. The staff was very good. It looked very, very clean. I would rate them very good. The outside was well taken care of from what we could see.

Solstice Senior Living at Bangor was very nice. The only thing we didn't like is that, if one of us gets really ill, then we have to move completely out and go somewhere else. They had three meals a day and good transportation to and from Bangor and the surrounding areas. They're basically the same as the other community. It is in a perfect location. You have to pay a down payment to get in that's non-refundable, but it is fine. They didn't have a parking garage, so you have to park outside. I think it was a nice place to go. The food was excellent as well.

I toured Solstice Senior Living, it was very nice, and I liked it. They showed me a 1-bedroom, but it's not good a fit for me. I like to cook, but they only allow a microwave, and the refrigerator is just to keep milk or soda in. The price is very high. They offer all your meals and they clean. The staff member who showed me around was very nice.

It was fantastic. My mother and I had lunch there and the food was delicious. We sat with a lady who has been there for five to six years. She was honest about the struggles about when you first get there, how she had gone through it, and how she was feeling much better now. It helped my mom tremendously; she was a wonderful help. The sales lady was gracious also. She showed us what was available. The dining area was wonderful. Everything was clean and well laid out. The staff who gave out the meals were gracious too. I love their dining area, it has good windows, a big skylight, so it is wide open and it makes the residents feel good. They have a full calendar of activities. Everyday there's more than one thing going on and my mom likes that.

It was an outstanding, clean place with outstanding food. The staff was very knowledgeable. Their activities were great and not just the usual bingo. I was looking for Tai Chi when I went there, and two days ago, I got an email from them describing their Tai Chi classes that they now have. They were very responsive.

It is a very nice place. It seems very family and community oriented. The food is good. It is clean, bright, and sunny. Everybody seems very welcoming and wonderful. They have a lot of activities. They have live music, bingo, and exercise classes. They have everything. The managers of the facility actually live there so they know what is going on 24/7, which is pretty convenient and nice also.
