The home is clean and the staff is friendly but the home is understaffed. Every department seems understaffed. The residents have long waits for assistance when they call for help. The building is beautiful and the grounds are well kept. Many activities are offered during the week for the residents to enjoy. There seemed to be plenty of choice in food even if it wasn't very good.

Poydras Home is very close to our house. My daughter and I can walk there and we can visit my mom often. We also know other people whose parents are there. My mom will move there on October 16. They opened a brand new memory center with 11 rooms and staff which was very impressive. They were all very excited about the new program. There's green space, a secure garden and rubberized walkways.

The staff at Poydras Home seemed to be very attentive, friendly, and very efficient. Everything was very clean, neat, and organized. I think the place was good for older people. They offer lots of activities depending on the level of care. So it was everything from music and all kinds of orientations to physical education, moving around, and exercising to activities where they would actually leave the center and do things; there was a huge variety. I liked most that they have a continuum of care, from starting out as a day program and being able to transition into additional care if it's needed. The only thing that I like that they didn't have is that sense of a smaller community. It does feel that you're part of a much bigger community, which could be great for people that were there, but not for somebody that needs a more intimate situation.

This is a privately run facility that offers everything from independant living in one bedroom apartments, assisted living and nursing and alzheimer's care. The facility is lovely, very secure and I found the staff caring and always prompt to respond to every need. I have personally know five of the residents there, one of whom was my mother before she passed away. I cannot speak highly enough of the care and attention the residents receive there.

I don't think you could find a bettet facility. Everyone from housekeeping to the director is professional, caring and kind. The facility is beautiful, clean and well maintained. The respect that they give to each individual is unmatched! Family members are treated as part of the team and opportunities for family and extended family to visit with their lived one are not only available but creatively designed to encourage family gathering-a real community!
