The Oaks is an older place. We didn't get a good feeling there because it was so much like where my mom was, and we wanted a different environment for my dad. The lady who showed us around was very friendly and nice. I'd give them a 2 because the buildings were old and weren't nice-looking.

Everyone at The Oaks was friendly to me on my visit. That is to be expected, but, as I walked around, I couldn't help but notice that the staff seemed to have a good relationship with the residents, as well. There were groups of residents socializing here and there, and a larger group engaged in an organized exercise class. The leader of the group was reminding the participants of modifications they could do in order to participate at their own level. Although they were exercising, there was plenty of chatter and they were clearly having a great time.Something else that struck me on my visit was the cleanliness and, well, "normal"-ness, of the facility. As a child, I had always hated visiting older relatives, because of the hospital smells. There is not even a hint of that. It's not a fancy place, but the rooms look comfortable and are neat and clean. The bottom line: it was a place that I would feel comfortable staying at myself someday.
