I visited Bonne Terre Village. My mother is 87 and my father is deceased. She's going to have to be living in a place like independent living. The people at Bonne Terre Village told me that she can get a 2-bedroom unit and have someone live with her. I think the facility is fine. I just wanted to see if there were other options, because she doesn't want to go to an assisted living or nursing home. She feels like she has to have personal sitter, but we can't afford to keep doing it at home. So if we sell her property, we can afford to keep doing it at a lower cost apartment like in Bonne Terre Village. She could do whatever she wants for a little longer. But in a few years and at some point I'm not sure what we're going to do. Nevertheless, Bonne Terre Village is a very nice and new facility. They have a very welcoming and informative staff. I would recommend this facility to others.

My great-grandmother was a resident at this facility before her death in 2007. The concept behind this assisted living facility is to allow seniors to maintain as much independence as possible while assisting with basic everyday needs. The patients who live here reside in numbered apartments, all of which have a kitchen and separate living/dining room. The facility felt in many ways like an ordinary apartment complex. However, staff was on hand to assist residents with everyday tasks, from cleaning to assisting residents mobility. There is an activity room downstairs where residents enjoy playing games, watching movies, and socializing. I remember they had a bingo night, a crafts group, etc. The facility provided Meals on Wheels for those unable to cook. My great-grandmother was able to do much of her own cooking until she passed away. She participated in the activities thrown by the center and enjoyed reading and writing poetry in her apartment. She loved visits from family and always played the hostess. Once a week, a lady would come to her apartment to style her hair. I found the atmosphere to be very friendly and welcoming. The entry is secure and visitors needed to be buzzed in through the front desk. This provided my family with confidence my great-grandmother was safe. The residents were a close-knit group and would check on each other or call each other regularly. I enjoyed my visits to Bonne Terre Village and the time I spent with my great-grandmother.
