My father-in-law is in Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home. It is a fine nursing home. It's a good place and clean. The staff cares about the residents. They do have activities. They have a little community room where they go and hang out. The rooms are nice. My father-in-law had a roommate at the time. They have a dock outside with a little pond, like a gazebo-type area. The staff is pleasant. They do physical therapy.

The CNAs and nurses there truly love the residents. There is a doctor at this facility daily. Housekeeping is to be commended. It's like no other nursing home I've ever visited.

My dad has been in this home for less than a year. He had a difficult time adjusting at first, but the members of the staff were patient and dealt effectively with his aggression and his persistent pacing. He lost quite a bit of weight at first, but he is on some new medications that have increased appetite as a side effect. He is doing so much better, and the family is much more settled with his care and current condition. The staff there with only one exception is patient, diligent, and thorough. The one exception is loud, impatient, and snappy. I like to be there when she is not there. There is a doctor on staff full time and this brings great peace of mind. I know my dad is in good hands and is receiving appropriate care.
