My husband is at Valhalla Post Acute at the moment and I have high regard for them. Their rehab staff is excellent. They do great work. They give loving care to the residents, at least they did to my husband, and the nursing staff is responsive and professional. Their physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy were excellent. He's in a private room. It's very spacious. It had a private bath, a roll-in shower, and a very spacious bathroom. They had activities and he attended just once because he wasn't that interested. He went to some bingo. He didn't participate though. I played bingo and he sat and watched. We went outside and they had nice walkways that you can roll the wheelchair around. It was very pleasant outside. They had common areas, but he wasn't up to that.

I feel like the room is in a far away place. I haven’t had but one staff even begin to smile. No one has made us familiar with the room or facility. No one has checked on my husband at all other than leaving a dinner try and picking it up. The nurse showed up with a cup full of pills. When asked she did read me the names off her computer. Getting a glass of ice water as an act of god. They did bring me a cot, asking me to move the chair. He put a fitted sheet on threw the flat sheet on the cot and I have no pillow. Our son brought a small fridge. He opened it and had to leave the styrofoam and box in the room. Staff don’t even acknowledge the mess. It’s like they can’t make eye contact with it. I cannot leave my husband alone here!

No place is without areas of possible improvement. ValHalla is like most places - not enough people applying. HOWEVERR, from the greeters - Natalie and Trina - to the RNs (our most frequent ones were Juan & Renecka) CBAs (Necole & Sheba and night time John), Therapists (Jeff, Robin and others whom I have forgotten their nams), to the Admin/Billing staff, the housekeeping and kitchen staff we could not have asked for anything better.

My husband was there for 6 + weeks. Short staffed so little attention paid to him. There was 1CNA, 1Therapist and an Agency staff person who actually seemed to care about the patient. He had a physical issue that wasn't addressed for the first 2 1/2 weeks he was there. When I asked why the issue wasn't being addressed, the Nurse told me it was because the issue hadn't been reported. That seemed strange to me since it had been going on for so long. The room wasn't cleaned regularly. In fact, I asked for a broom to sweep the room more than once. We weren't told that the transportation company bringing him home didn't assist with getting him into the house. If we hadn't asked friends to be available, he would have been left in the yard. The wheelchair used to bring him home belonged to the facility. When the transportation person was asked to take it back, we were told to call the facility. The facility asked us to bring it back and we did. The amount of therapy he received was limited. (That may not have been the fault of the facility). However, he's in the same condition he was in before he went to rehab. Very disappointed that a quality "looking" facility didn't provide more quality service.

The food is horrible. Does not receive everything on the food tray Margarine or sugar or muffins. etc. TAKES FOREVERY FOR NURSES OF AIDS TO COME TO THE ROOM. The nurses were to empty blood out of tubes and measure liquid and kept tract and nurses did not record.

Mom went to Valhalla Post Acute for about a month. The room was spacious, it was fine but she was never taken to the gym facility, but maybe two times in the whole time she was there. They need to vet their staff better, and they need to hire more staff.

Poor food service, Most every meal had something missing. such as margarine, or other item ordered., Aides seem to have a "do not care attitude", and at times almost rude. Getting help involves ringing a bell, then someone comes to room later (up to 20 minutes at times) only to have to them try and help. NO ROOM to NURSE STATION calling system. Way too much time wasted getting help or service!!

My Mom has been there about 5 weeks. Since she arrived the bed soar on her butt has gotten larger and deeper. She does not get the food on time and there is always something missing from what she orderd. She is not getting the care she needs.

I have had two separate dealings with this nursing home. My mother had had both of her knees replaced and had to stay at a facility where she could be watched and taken care of on a 24 hour basis, as well as complete physical therapy at least once a day. This facility was excellent to my mother and I. They had great food, and even allowed me to have Christmas dinner with my mother, which to my surprise was a first class meal. The nursing staff was great, and catered to my mother's every wish. The physical therapy department was also great, and they allowed me to sit in on sessions when I was able to visit. My overall review of this facility would be the best possible place for my mother to stay. They treated her very well, and myself as well.
