I am/was a resident of this facility

I've been here at Brookdale Rosehill for rehab for about 2 months now. I like their occupational and physical therapy. They're caring. I haven't had any complaints about the staff here. My room has an ADA-compliant shower. It is a walk-in shower that has handrails all the way around, so everything is accessible to you. The only thing I have to complain about is that the toilets are low. The rooms are big with big closets. The doors are wide. I have a wheelchair, and I can get in and out the doors - the bathroom door and the entry door. They got me an air mattress because they noticed that I was getting sores. I have a television, a reclining chair, and a regular chair. Some of the rooms have carpet and then some of the rooms have hardwood floors, and I'm in one with the hardwood floor. The staff is fine. There was one time when they were very short-staffed with CNAs. They serve meals and they're pretty good. I haven't had any complaints about the meals. They give you a menu the day before to choose what you want to eat for the next day. We get three meals a day, and then they have snacks out by the kitchen, like fruits and chips. Each day, they say what activities they do on the calendar. The only thing that I've experienced is group occupational therapy. When I first came here, they gave me a book on the things that they do here. They said there is an emotional dog that would come to your room, but they haven't had a dog come here. I'm looking for the dog to come, but it hasn't happened.

Brookdale Rosehill was really beautiful. It was clean. It had a lot of amenities. It had skilled nursing attached to it. I liked it. It was nice. I liked the rooms. It reminded me of what my mother has now. I like their bathroom and the shower. It's larger. I just like their setup better. They seem more organized than where she is now. I thought the carpet was nice, but the view was not so much. The room looked to another building. The lighting was good. It was nice. I thought their activities were a lot nicer. They had more things for the residents to do. It was a bigger facility, so of course, they could do more. They had a chapel on site with church services, which my mom would probably really appreciate. They had a doctor that was on call 24/7 and I like that. They had a lab there where they actually could do a urinalysis and maybe a blood draw, so they didn't have to send everything out. I met the director, and she seemed good, organized, and informative, so I liked her.

Diabetics should NOT stay here. They do not have much food that you can eat. This facility has a duty to care for the dietary needs of their diabetic residents. I will file a complaint with the Kansas Long-Term Care Ombudsman and the Dept. for Aging & Disability.

I really liked Brookdale Rosehill. They had more than ample activities for anybody. I would like to live there. It was like a little town setting inside a facility. The menu looked really good with a lot of options. The staff that I met was very informative.

My parents are in Brookdale Rosehill. They like the decor and love the food. They have many activities that they're planning to do. I can transition my father from this particular facility to the long-term care right next door. The staff picks up and gives my dad his medication, assists him to the wheelchair and brings him to dinner, and if he's not feeling well enough, they'll bring the dinner to him. They have an exercise room, a theater with nice chairs, places where they can put puzzles together and read books, little nooks and crannies, and gazebos outside. They do their laundry for them, people come and do their nails, and they have a salon. The staff is very friendly. The only thing I complain about is maintenance. If you ask for something, you might not get it that day. My parents have a one-bedroom apartment, which is small. They have crafts, singing, and Bingo. They're high priced, but my father is getting a lot for that.

My mother-in-law was in the rehab section of Brookdale Rosehill. It was a well-kept and nice place. She was there twice. During her first rehab, the situation was excellent. The staff was amazing and they were very attentive to her. During the second rehab, she was in a different portion of the building and it didn't go as well, but I don't know if that's because she just wasn't as well. The first time she was there, she raved about the food. The second time she was there, she did not, but it was the same food, same facility. They had a lot of music programs and she loved going to those. They would come and get her and take her to another part of the building for the music performances. There was such a difference in between the two times for her.

Brookdale Rosehill is a disaster. My relative received inadequate care across the board. They are short staffed and are not able to keep up with the needs of their patients. My relative complained of terrible food and an unkind and careless nursing staff. If you care about your loved one, do not send her/him to Brookdale Rosehill!

Brookdale Rosehill (Formerly The Sweet Life at Rosehill) was very nice and very clean. We had some problems with the staff last time we were there, so I didn't put Mom back. She's been there five times for rehab. Their activities are pretty slim. They don't have a lot going on. She fell in that facility and broke her elbow at 5:00 in the morning. The food was very good. Her room was always very nice and clean. Their physical therapy was definitely a five. The last time she was there, they went downhill a bit. One side of the facility was very good and the other side was not. If your loved one is ambulatory, able to dress themselves, and able to go to the bathroom themselves, Sweet Life is perfect. If they're not, that's a different story, but my mother requires 100% assistance and she's wheelchair bound. They have a chef there. The food was good and you have many options. If you do not like the food, they will present you with two or three different menus and you can pick what you want from there.

My Grandma was at Brookdale Rosehill for a couple of weeks. The nursing staff was friendly. The facility is beautiful. Our social worker was extremely helpful. The physical therapy got her to work on her good leg. I would gladly recommend this facility to anyone.

This place is understaffed or complacent. It takes hours to get help into a room. No one ever answers the phone when you call to get help. Even calls to the Assistant director , got almost no action. My relative has laid in feces for hours, several times before someone comes to help. Nursing staff, completely ignored his allergies and administrated medications that he was allergic to. Nursing staff, understand little about dosing and administrating medication. Obviously there are good one, those specific individuals are a light to a very dark existence A family member must be there almost around the clock to get adequate care and make sure they are fed. To get a bed ridden individual bathed it has to be special request. I could go on an on..

Sweet Life was modern; it was updated. They had a little theater there, they have someone playing the piano for the residents, and we were told that food is good. It was really homey. They have little sitting areas that families could sit in and visit if they wanted to get out of the room.

My father is in Brookdale Rosehill. We choose it because it is close to my sister. I think the staff is good. I really like the place. It is very homey, is nice and clean. He really likes the meal. They even have a chef that makes cakes on Fridays and he really enjoys that.

My mom was at the nursing side of Brookdale of Rosehill. They took care of her well. We found a couple of girls that were so good to my mom. They checked on her and they had very nice personal touch.

I had visited The Sweet Life at Rosehill, and the rooms were very nice and large. The staff was very warm and friendly. Their staff to patient ratio was excellent, and that was what impressed us. They had quite a good selection of activities and entertainment. I would absolutely recommend this facility to family and friends.

Mom spent 2 weeks at Sweet Life Rehab and went home after that. They were excellent. The care was very good, and the rehab was great. People were very courteous and friendly. They have a lot of perks. They have cappuccino machines available to the guests and to their families, and popcorn is always available. There were lots of activities for the seniors. They had bingo, word search, and people came in to the assisted living. People from the rehab were welcome to attend as well. I would highly recommend them.

At first, Sweet Life was very nice when my mother-in-law lived there. After five years, they switched management and it went downhill. My mother-in-law complained about the food. She passed away two years ago. They have rooms that people live in, and somebody comes in every so often to clean the rooms and change the bed sheets, butI think they could have done a better job. They kept what the public sees very clean, but the apartments could have been cleaner.

Sweet Life at Rosehill is just one mile from my house. My wife stayed there for six weeks. It's a fairly nice place so far with regards to its physical setup. The rooms were nice and the food was very good.

The high point for me in Sweet Life Rosehill was their nursing unit because they had private rooms. The dining area was very acceptable. It was clean. However, I just don't think it had a pleasant environment. I just didn't like it. I didn't like the décor and my mom wasn't crazy about it either. I didn't like their long term care unit. It seemed as though they had low functioning folk there in their long-term care unit. It didn't feel homey to me. It didn't had the same warmth or sense of community. The staff seemed very nice and professional.

I visited this facility

I visited my grandmother at this wonderful establishment in Shawnee Kansas. The first thing you notice upon entering is how well they have maintained and kept the gardens outside, there is a real attention to detail. When you go into the facility, the friendly staff is more than willing to help you with any questions or show you around, they all keep great smiles on their faces and are very friendly to you. I found the carpets to be imaculately clean, as well as everything else, and that the elderly there were very happy and always seemed to be coming or going to some event or game with big grins on their happy faces. Also the food was suprisingly good, as I have tasted some bad food in "rest homes" before, and I was glad to know that they were giving my grandmother excelent treatment and she was receiving the nutritious meals she so needs in her poor health. The rooms were well-equipped with color television sets and nice views of the outdoors. Each room also had an air conditioning which was very important during our hot summer visit. We sat with our grandmother and enjoyed the friendly company of both the staff and the other elderly living there at the assisted living center, and I had to say it was a very enjoyable experience and put my heart at ease that she was receiving the proper and happy care I so want for her to have. I would recommend this fine establishment for anyone who is considering going into an assisted living situation or has a loved one who they can no longer care for as was the case with me. If you live in the Kansas area, or the Shawnee area to be more specific, take a drive up to Sweet Life and take a look for yourself, I doubt you will be disappointed in this fantastic home for your loved one.

I visited this facility

The Sweet Life Rosehill facility is a sister facility to another, smaller, Brookdale facility about a mile away which caters specifically to Alzheimer's and Dementia patients. The facility at Rosehill is larger, and offers three separate levels of care, including Assisted Living. The interior of this facility is very nicely appointed, in the style of a luxury apartment community, and seems very clean and well-maintained. There are a number of smaller common spaces, such as an aviary room, as well as a couple of larger common areas for group activities planned each day. The rooms at this facility are a decent size, but the Assisted Living component does not offer two-bedroom apartments, which might be difficult for some couples. I did not meet many staff members, but my tour guide was genuinely friendly and upbeat. I felt that the residents were more active in this facility than they were in some others I have visited, so it might be a good match for people want a busier community. The management of the Sweet Life facilities appears to be very good in general, with a full schedule of activities and events for residents, as well as smaller spaces for more individualised activity. I would definitely recommend this facility for a loved one.
