We toured Brookdale Salina Fairdale. It's not what we expected. It's too small for one. Another thing is, I know that my dad would not be okay with living around other people. We did not stay long enough for the food. The lady was kind of rushing us out because we weren't interested in getting my dad into an apartment, and we told her that it wasn't a good fit. So, she kind of had a little attitude and rushed out the door. They just sat there and did nothing. I didn't see them interact with any of the clients or anything.

I had been to Brookdale Salina Fairdale when we were looking some months back. It was a very nice place. When you walk in, there's this very large room with couches and chairs and it's just comfortable. There were little people sitting around here and there. I was impressed with the rooms. The rooms were very nice. The only thing was that it was a little messy, but it was that time of day. When I went in there, they had a lot going on. But it was just a lovely place. The staff who toured me was very nice and very willing to answer any questions I had. It was very pleasant.

I appreciated the lady at Brookdale Salina Fairdale who gave us a tour. She was very informative, very friendly, and helpful in assuring me that my brother would be in a good place there. The setup of the dining room and everything was very welcoming. The one room that we did see was very small, and I probably wouldn't choose that room, but she didn't have any other ones open to show me at the time. So, all I could see was just a floor plan of another room, which looked like it would be very feasible. There was a courtyard. You had to go through a sunroom to get out to the courtyard.

Brookdale Salina Fairdale was nice. When you walk in, there's no smell. It's clean, and for assisted living, it's a real nice place. The rooms were not real fancy. They're just plain rooms, and you can decorate it the way you want and move your furniture in. They have bingo and they have a van so they can take people where they want to go. The staff was real good and real pleasant. The lady was knowledgeable about the place and took me on a good tour of it. We had my husband evaluated by a couple of nurses that work there. They came over to our home and visited with him and got the information and all that. The trouble is, they only have two people that are there part of the time to take care of all these residents, so they really can't call themselves a skilled nursing. They have a salon, laundry, and a room for people to gather. I haven't met all the staff, just about three of them, but they were all nice and helpful.

We went over Brookdale Salina Fairdale and met with this lady, then she showed us around and what's available and she gave me some nice information. We went and sat in one of the larger rooms. It was one big room with a kitchen and living room, then there's a little hallway with a closet and opens up to a bedroom with a door outside and a patio there. That was one of the biggest rooms. We also saw the floor plans of the other rooms available. We saw the dining area and met a couple of people that work there. It was nice. The lady who gave us the tour was a real nice lady and not pushy. We enjoyed the tour and just got info. The tour, cleanliness, and all that were very nice, it was a good business, and I had no problems.
Disgusted family of tenant

Dangerously understaffed. To find anyone to help was an impossible and timely task. If the tenant falls, they lay there for who knows how long before they’re found. And do they notify the family? Nope. The tenant needs a daily pill? That’ll be several hundreds of dollars a month. The tenant needs help to the dining table? That’ll be several hundreds of dollars a month. The tenant didn’t eat today? Oh, well he was napping and we didn’t wanna bother him, so we let him starve, but rest assured, we will still charge you for a trip to the dining table that didn’t actually happen. The tenant is suddenly missing belongings after leaving to the er? Oh, that’s strange. Can’t imagine how that happened. Tenant needs help in the restroom? Let’s humiliate him by standing there with the doors wide open while conversing with the staff down the hall, while he tries to use the restroom with an audience of whoever might be walking by. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone who cares about their loved one.

I didn’t like the fact that when I came in the door of Brookdale Salina, the alarm went off. There wasn't a sign saying that you needed to ring the bell, so I couldn’t even tell for sure which door was the front door. The rooms were all OK. I didn’t think the staff was as friendly as they could have been. They showed me a room, and the workers were standing around. When I came back, they were still standing around, so I wasn’t really impressed with that.

Sterling House is clean, but the staff needs a little work. They are rude and snotty. They need to be compassionate. There are not a lot of spaces available for parking. They take field trips to casinos and places around the state. They have shuttle buses for doctor appointments. They usually have birthday parties every month.

When we decided to start looking for a facility, we called Sterling House of Fairdale and asked them to give a tour in their facility. The staff are very helpful. We were able to see the rooms, but they are not quite roomy as the others. The dining room seemed clean and nice. The staff seemed helpful for the time we were there.
