My mother is in the memory unit of Village Manor. The experience and the care that she's getting have definitely been positive and good. Obviously, because it was in November, we initially had to just talk to her on the phone through the window. With her dementia, sometimes she kept wanting us to come in, and obviously we couldn't. They just recently opened up to in-person visits. We have been really pleased so far with the care and attention that she's getting. I have nothing but positive things to say about the staff. Any time we've had any questions or concerns, they've either immediately gotten back to us or immediately addressed them for us. They give phone updates through conference calls with my two sisters, brothers, and me. We get text messages and e-mails, and they keep the information moving very well. She has a private room, and we've only been able to look through the window from the outside. Even when we visit her now, we can't actually go down to her room because of the whole COVID thing. They had a Christmas party, but at that point in time, they couldn't let family members in. They play bingo, and they still have ongoing activities in there for the clients. The staff has told us that she very much participates, but as far as mom telling us and communicating with us, we don't get a lot of information, other than she always says it's such a nice place. She's a dementia patient. The outside area where we would go, which was near her room, had a really nice park-like setting. There is a gazebo, picnic tables, and bird feeders out there. The front entry is nice, and they have a foyer that's set up with nice little wicker chairs, so you can sit out there if you want, and it would still be enclosed. Overall, we've been really impressed with a lot of things so far. We haven't had any issues. When we were outside the window and she was inside, there would be a staff member there because they have to bring her a phone so we can talk. The staff seems to be very interactive. I don't know about the food, but I know she's gaining a lot of weight, so they're feeding her well. From the outside, it appears neat and clean. Their pricing is quite reasonable compared to some of the other ones that we had looked at or considered. With the care and attention she's getting, I think the value is very good there.
