My mother is an Independent Living resident and is very happy with her decision to live at Independence Village. She has reaffirmed that during my visits to Pella and our telephone conversations. It’s perfect for her. The staff is friendly, engaging and thoughtful. Also very creative and willing to go to a lot of effort for some great, fun activities throughout the year—checkout their social media and see what I mean. Independence Village provides lunch for my mom and that works great for her. Breakfast and dinner are available if she would ever want those meals. They have a nice, comfortable dining room. The food is great and the chef is also very creative with meals and events. The facility and grounds are pleasant and well kept. Beautiful garden area that residents can enjoy and even do some gardening if so inclined. Mom put a lot of thought into the decision when she decided to move from her townhome. It’s a blessing to see her happy at Independence Village. I’m looking forward to my next visit!

We took the whole tour of the Independence Village of Pella. They gave us lunch and they were just delightful. My son has recently had a stroke, and so the person who toured us told me we were looking at assisted living unless something changed with him. The people there just seemed to be happy, the place was clean, and it looked like everything was run efficiently. Our tour guide was excellent in explaining things to us and giving us time for questions. The food was also excellent and everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves. If my son would have gone on that day, I think he would have ended up feeling very much at home.

My wife and I toured Independence Village this past week. We were very impressed. From the upkeep of the facility, the options of living spaces, to the meal we were offered, we couldn’t have had a better experience. Even more impressive was all of the staff members we met. They were dedicated to the facility, the residents and totally made us feel welcome as a visitor and potential future resident. I would absolutely recommend Independence Village to anyone. We look forward to being a resident in the future.

The rooms are beautiful, the staff are kind, the building is so clean, the food is delicious! They go all out with decorating beautifully and making it feel like a home. Daily activities are so fun and a wide variety. Considering that this is an assisted living, they do surprisingly well with high-skilled needs and end-of-life needs.

The Memory Care "apartments" are inviting, large, clean and lovely. It has all the feel of home. The caregivers were so very kind, caring, and so very helpful for both my husband, myself and family. The staff at all levels were very welcoming, caring and sought to be sure all the needs for him were being met. I'd recommend this facility to anyone seeking great care for their loved one with this hight-level of care.

We were at Independence Village of Pella last week for a tour. The place had everything in the building, and you could live with your spouse in all levels of care, even into memory care, so that was alright. The pricing gets a little expensive on the memory care part, but that's typically everywhere. We got to sample the food. They had a chef there, and the food was good. The staff were very knowledgeable and very polite. They answered all our questions. The food was very good. However, everything was in one building for all the care. They had a walking courtyard and stuff. They had a little gym and a movie theater.

Sarah has been a wonderful asset as we are in the process of gathering information on assisted living for our parents. She gave us a very detailed overview of the program and a wonderful tour, including a two bedroom occupied unit. The residents were so wonderful to open their home to us. The rooms were spacious, there are a lot of amenities and every resident we met in the common areas had a smile of their face!

Independence Village, Pella, is a wonderful place. The staff is caring, kind and engaging. The communication between staff, resident and family is strong. The activities offered allow residents to be as social as they would like. The interior of the building is bright and cheery and the exterior is well kept. The staff, at Independence, create a family like atmosphere which is extremely valuable. Independence Pella leads with love. It's comforting to know that they care so much for our parents.

My aunt and uncle lived here about 5 years. They enjoyed friendships with the staff and other residents. When we visited, the facility was always beautiful, clean, and we heard of many social opportunities my aunt and uncle could or did participate in. Thank you for making their last years special.

I toured Independence Village of Pella, and it was very good. They were very nice about showing us all the different options for different types of rooms. We ate lunch there, it was delicious. The staff and everyone seemed friendly. It's just a very beautiful place. The lady that showed us around is kind of the coordinator there, and we had a lot of interaction with her. Then we would meet others as they were doing their work around there, and she would introduce us to them. They were all just extremely friendly and caring. There were some people playing cards. They can play cards if they want to. There's a kind of a rec room there. At the time we were there, it was during the noon hour, so there weren't too many other activities going on. I thought it was very nice and very inviting. I was very pleasantly impressed with it. The overall decor of the place and everything was very nice and clean. I just really couldn't see anything wrong with it. The food was great, it was just a very delicious meal. The chef even came out and talked to us. They said that if people had suggestions of things they would like to have served, they would be glad to try to have it incorporated.

My tour of Independence Village of Pella was very well done and very thorough. We kept the staff kind of late with lots of questions but they pretty much answered everything we were concerned about. We were happy with it. The place is beautiful. It seems clean and organized. The coordinator, Sarah, was very helpful. The rooms were very homey. I like that there's a place to gather, but you also have your own bedroom and bath. There are nice big bright windows, too. It doesn't feel small. I appreciated that they provide new carpets to new residents. It feels like things are clean and well-kept, and I think it would be a comfortable living space. For activities, we inquired about things that my father might like, which are important to us. Number one was the church service on Sunday, and that's an important thing to him. There's actually a pastor coming in to give a message, so we like that. My dad plays a lot of cards, so that was a big thing, too. He likes to drink coffee, so it's nice that they have a gathering place for the residents to come down in the morning. He likes to tinker around in the yard, and it sounds like the residents are encouraged to go and take care of things in the yard. There were a lot of things there that I think would make my dad feel at home. They also provide bus service to a grocery store and Wal-Mart on regularly. I think that's important for their independence. They seem to have a lot of good things.

I visited to assess if this would be a good option for one of my relatives. I ate a meal with some of the residents, went on a tour and spoke with staff. In every interaction, it was obvious that people care, the community is vibrant, and staff is knowledgeable. I heard a several stories from the residents about how they came to Independence Village. I witnessed a variety of vibrant social activities, both planned and spontaneous. I heard about local parade to celebrate the upcoming holiday. I witnessed a group attending a local school play and heard about other outings. The rooms are clean, facilities appear well maintained, and the residents have opportunities to personalize their residences. The food choices are well balanced to match nutritional needs. I liked that there is a place for physical therapy, a library, a beauty salon and to play a piano. The staff are knowledgeable about all sorts of aspects of this stage of life. I also have appreciated the ongoing conversation with Sarah as my relative is not yet ready for this step. When she is, I will definitely be recommending Independence Village. PS, I like the flexibility to be able to transition between the levels of care, depending on health needs.

Independent Village of Pella is a lovely, warm, friendly, family oriented community. The entire staff is so very friendly and helpful. I am always met with a friendly smile and "how may I help you" greeting when I walk thru the front door. There are so many activities that are fun and inviting to participate in with the other community members allowing friendships to form. I am amazed at the holiday decor and activities throughout the community; how fun for the residents. I had to experience some difficult health concerns with my family member who is under their care. They have been so good to help me with the information I needed for his continued care when I did not know what is available to me or who to turn to for the help. The staff was available any time I needed help be it within the community or by phone. I am so thankful I choose Independent Village for my family members care.

When looking for an apartment and community setting for my godparents relocating to Pella from Oregon, Independent Village was the only community that I recommended. The staff were absolutely fabulous in giving me a tour ahead of time, answering questions and even helping them in their move and transition. I'm inspired every time I visit with the beauty of the property, the meal options and the fabulous onsite activities.

Rooms are spacious!! Lovely views of the pond, (love the fountains). There seems always be activities to join in, from sing-a-longs, to puzzles, to adventures around the area. Pella is an amazing community, with outside or inside things to do.

During a time of great loss, we needed a very special location for our parents to live near us. Through our research we found Independence Village of Pella. Right from the start, the amazing leadership and caregivers were able to answer our questions, provide us numerous tours, provided thoughtful things to consider, and reassure us throughout the process of determining how to best meet the needs of our precious parents. Needless to say, our parents had been through so much and we needed a comfortable, caring, and beautiful community that would embrace them as new neighbors and friends. The community is full of amazing staff who truly care about their community members and the extended family who visit. Our parents quickly began to enjoy their new apartment, which is fully accessible and roomy, which we were able to furnish and decorate. They were welcomed immediatly by staff and neighborly residents. Additionally, we were (and still are) greeted by staff who recognize us and engage in conversation. We love that our parents really get excited to attend Bingo, Grayolo coloring group, watch and/or participate in a game of pool, and pick grapes from the courtyard. They have a plethora of opportunities to participate in as much as they desire. It's such a delight to visit daily and see all the amazing celebrations throughout the month. Whether it's a meal or coffee time, the local chef creates amazing cuisine that our parents rave about. Not only do our parents feel at home but we feel we are welcomed as part of the family. A stop to sing with someone playing the piano is a welcomed opportunity along with chatting with other neighbors enjoying the rocking chairs outdoors on summer and autumn evenings. Sitting by a warm fireplace with friends, putting together puzzles in community spaces, and worshiping as a collective neighborhood are wonderful options available. We are beyond blessed with helpful staff who truly treat our parents and us so well. No question goes unanswered. What a blessing to have Independence Village in Pella! Truly, they are an answer to many prayers for us and our parents.

Wonderful care and rehab offered. I couldn't be happier with the employees and managers of this facility. The rooms are spacious and the kitchen and bathroom offer the individual options to cook and take care of personal needs without feeling they are in a nursing home.

My parents are now in the Independence Village of Pella. The executive director and the ones below her that does resident care, know what they're doing as far as interaction with the residents. For the most part, the care is good there and the food is good. They care about the residents. They have a lot of activities for them, there's exercise for them, and that was another thing that I liked. And then they also have an out-of-house therapy that comes in 2 to 3 times a week for my mom, which is a huge plus. The facility is beautiful. There are a couple of aides that are not as compassionate as I would like them to be. I've been to lots of different places, and I would say that the food here is the best I've seen.

I toured Independence Village of Pella and the person who took us on the tour was awesome. He answered all of our questions, and while he was showing us around, I could see that the residents liked him a lot. So, when someone knows who you are, that means you're going around and checking on things and stuff like that. I thought the layout was really good, but they're still in the process of updating some things. The apartment we saw was great. The room itself was like a tiny apartment. It had its own bedroom, then a living area, and a refrigerator for people who could still use it, but if they're not using it, it wouldn't be plugged in. It was nice and the most spacious room that we saw out of all of the places we visited. I went through their dining area too and it was very nice and clean.

Our family made the difficult decision to help mom and dad sell their beautiful new home and downsize to a more manageable residence about two years ago. And while the process certainly had plenty of emotional ups and downs, we are so thankful to have had the opportunity to work together—parents, children, and even grandchildren—through the sorting, purging, and setting up a new home experience. We are extraordinarily grateful to have found Independence Village in Pella for mom and dad. While their two-bedroom apartment is certainly smaller than their previous home, we’ve worked together to create a very cozy, comfortable, and manageable new homebase for them. All along the way, the genuinely remarkable and caring staff members—every single one of them—have been astoundingly accommodating, uplifting, encouraging, and wonderfully resourceful at every turn. The entire facility is spacious, tidy and clean, beautifully appointed, and bright and cheery. Activities and programming are creatively curated every week, and there is never a shortage of entertaining things to do and places to go, all organized and executed by the crackerjack staff. The title of this review is not hyperbole; I fully expect to live at Independence Village when the time comes for me to downsize to a more manageable home. Every time I walk into the building, I’m deeply satisfied and gratified to have such a terrific retirement community so close to the truly amazing town I’ve claimed as my own since moving here to attend college in 1980. I give Independence Village my highest recommendation, and I urge you and your family to visit and chat with the staff and residents to see if it’s a good match for you as well. I predict you’ll love what you discover there.

The buildings and grounds are well kept. They always look good and sell good. They staff is friendly and willing to listen and to try and give residents and their families what they would like to see happen. Mom's apartment is perfect. It was very fresh and clean when she moved in to it. We love to visit. Staff and other residence enjoy it when we spend time with everyone not just our mom. Mom loves it here. She loves spending time with her new friends, she likes the staff a lot and loves her apartment. Everyone is very upbeat and helpful.

I visited my mom frequently while living in her spacious apartment in the Assisted Living section at Independence Village. The friendly, professional and caring staff always have time to insure the residents get all the care they need. When walking in the hall I could hear the residents socializing, enjoying playing bingo or attending a program. There are many activities and enjoyable day trips provided. The residents can partake in whatever interests them. I know my mom loves living there and I have peace of mind knowing she is well taken care of.

My mom moved into Independence Village of Pella, and it is excellent. The staff are excellent. My mom has an apartment. For activities they have word searches, videos, movies, coloring, crafts, book clubs, and writing clinics. They have a courtyard, a vineyard planted in their courtyard, a salon, and exercises. The food is excellent according to what my mom said, and she is a cook.

My mother currently lives in memory care. I appreciate the bright, homey private rooms. She thinks of it as an apartment and seems to feel very at home. One thing she really appreciates is how good the food is and the variety. As her daughter, I feel a lot of peace knowing they keep a close eye on mom, as politely as possible. I also appreciate the variety of activities that they help her to be a part of.

We really liked it and it's a newer facility. It's in very nice shape, so it's pretty nice. My mother-in-law liked it. The rooms are nice, and the living room is pretty big and had one fairly large bedroom and a nice-sized, eat-in kitchen where you could have a little table; my mother-in-law really likes that. The rooms also had a washer and dryer, and she really liked that about it too.
