The nursing staff is very caring and compassionate. We were concerned about my Mom feeling welcomed, but we need not have been so worried. The meals are excellent, the social activities keep Mom in the loop, and the communication is excellent with us when issues or concerns have come up.

I am leaning towards Ridgecrest Village because they have a program where once you're there and you can live independently (you have the different options of care after that), they can't kick you out. You pay a fee upfront to do that, but that's fine. The people were very helpful and accommodating as far as giving me a tour of the facilities. They even treated me to lunch one day and the food was OK. They have an exercise room, which is kind of important to me, and a library. The facility was very clean. I gave them high marks for that. It was well-maintained. It's near a mall and there were restaurants in that area.

We went to Ridgecrest Village. We toured both independent and assisted living. Everything was beautiful. They had a garden area, and they had libraries. There were lots of ladies playing mah-jong. There were some gentlemen playing cards and bingo. Other people were taking a painting class. The apartments were very nice. The staff was very nice and very accommodating. The dining area was beautiful. The only drawback to it is that it's very large and very spread out. There are long halls and a lot of walking. If you're capable of walking, it's fine. It was beautiful, and they had wheelchairs available if you were having issues.

Last year, the food service was outsourced to a new company that doesn't have any idea how to serve an elderly community. Confusing reservation procedures, staff members with poor communication skills, and limited menu choices that disregard dietary needs of aging residents.

I am going to Ridgecrest. I have put down a deposit. It is excellent. The room is adequate for my needs. They will allow me to bring my dog. Those are important things to me. The vibes are good. The dining room is lovely. It is a welcoming community. They re-do the rooms when they get new members. They provide one meal a day, and the washing machine is available for the residents' use.

You could customize the rooms at Ridgecrest Village including opening it up so that you had an open space between your kitchen, dining and the living space. They totally allow you if you feel comfortable doing that. The staff is of top quality and are quite friendly. They had a buffet so you have a selection and the sanitation is excellent.
