I would like to compliment, Jill, your activites director. She does a really good job caring for the residents. She is always planning things for them to do. She is always helping people. She is always fun to be with. Jill cares for the residents and does all she can for them. My husband George appreciates all she does for him and he enjoys the activities she plans. Jill goes up and beyond her job.

My grand father spent the last six months of his life at Manor Care in Davenport, Ia. I cannot say that it would be a place that I would want to end up but in my opinion they provided adequate care for him during his final days. From what I could see the staff there was capable and responsible if not overly compassionate and the facilities while stark and uninviting were clean and well maintained. I know that Manor Care is not the most expensive nursing home in the area and I imagine that like anything else you get what you pay for but I would have like my grandfather to spend his final days in a facility that was more hopeful and inviting. It really felt it was a place where people where sent to wait out their last days not to live them to their fullest.

When my grandmother was there the staff was not very attentive. She was often left alone and was very unhappy with the facilities. The place seemed clean and orderly but the staff was rude and not very helpful. She complained of the care but at first we thought that she was just unhappy with going into a nursing home. We found out that we were wrong and moved her to Good Samaritan after a few months because she was so unhappy and her care was not up to par. She got an infection from a catheter not being changed. I was disappointed with the care that she received. I understand that the aides are underpaid and that these places are usually understaffed but every time we were there they were rude. It wasn't just because of a bad day. I do not recommend that anyone put a loved one in that nursing home. There are plenty of better care facilities in the area.
