I was brought here December 2022. I had been in another facility and had a very bad experience. From the first few days I was treated like a person. The level of care I receive is fantastic. I get three showers every week, the staff is excellent, everyone is at the minimum a CNA, even management, the nurses are amazing and very helpful. I have a great room with my own paintings on the walls. I am at home here. Even most of the food is good. I could live out my life here and I would be happy. Plus, I’m taking part in the activities several days a week. We play bingo, arts and crafts, church services, occasional outings, just so much to keep us busy and feeling fulfilled. Our physical and occupational therapy services are some of the best I’ve ever experienced.

The very first thing I needed to know about Willow Bend is The Administration and Staff did not have good working relationship. The nursing home administrator who tried to effectively managing our Mother's adjustment to her new environment and her needs were not met with cooperation by 8 members of Willow Bend staff. Our mother was caught in-between staff taking sides and the Administrator working on the adjustment process without their assistance. They would not follow his lead. Our mother died. She did not have Covid19. Staff took it upon themselves to keep some family members from have an easy time telephoning or using an iPad to see and talk to our mother. they would ask for pass codes when NO PASS CODE was being used. They helped take away gifts sent to our mother that were discussed and approved by the Administrator. Gifts that were to help with the process of adjustment, like making her room cheerful and pretty. The administrator would talk to staff about their conduct. But staff would ignore the process of working together to the same end. Our mother was not looked after properly. Her death could have been prevented if 8 staff members would have followed the Administrator and stopped trying to blocked caring family members work together to help meet the goal of adjustment. Our mother became unimportant, overlooked her needs were not priority. Staff did not follow Administration guidelines. Our mother choked on food. Our mother should not have died.

Not enough staff to really help all the residents. Staff that is present is rushed and have bad attitudes. Residents treated more like cattle than people. Strong urine smell in building. Hard to voice concerns with the management because they are "in meetings" all day when you go in and then they dodge phone calls. We moved our loved one out of that place and the change we've seen is amazing. I still wonder how this nursing home got such a good review by the state.

The facility appears clean and well lit. There is an outside area for patients and families to enjoy either alone or in a group depending on mental capacity. There are two separate wings to the facility. In one wing those who maintain an ability to understand their surroundings and interact with others are allowed to wander freely and social events are organized for them regularly. The other wing is where they place patients with dementia and other mental health issues. The staff is generally talkative and good with the patients. The only time we had an issues with them was when we went to visit my grandmother and realized that she had soiled herself some time before we arrived and the nursing staff had failed to do anything about it. We were quite upset but that truly was the lone occasion where we noticed poor treatment. In general I give the facility high marks however they are not perfect.

CNA'S housekeeping and kitchen staff were always very professional with our family and our sister while she was under Alzheimer's Care at this facility. When her health failed to where she was placed under Hospice and comfort care things changed for her.The Nursing Department made it clear it was their way and did not listen to her family about their concerns of the pain they were seeing. They instead informed us they knew her better then we did causing her to suffer needlessly until she passed.I would not recomend a family to place a loved one here until they learn more about Hospice and Comfort Care.It was very difficult to lose our sister then to be unable to have the Nursing staff that were over her to care about us wanting her to pass peacefully like Hospice promised.
