The Village of Heritage staff works hard to give their home a cheerful feeling. It is seasonally decorated, and has seasonal activities. Meals are very good; when I visit my family member I have sometimes eaten in the dining room, which is restaurant style, open seating. It makes meals pleasant. The staff are very cheerful, caring and knowledgeable. They seem alert to changes in patients' condition; they communicate this appropriately to the family as well as supervisors. Most of all, they are truly caring and helpful, being very calm with people who are impatient, forgetful or upset. The total staff, including maintenance and kitchen crew all seem to be well trained and have their heart in their work. The facility has a large family meeting room, with games for kids and a TV, a room for crafts, and a nice dining room. In addition, there is a seperate room for parties, if families wish to hold parties and get togethers at the facility. A bus with a wheelchair lift is available for outings and shopping trips, as well as medical appointments. A doctor comes to the facility regularly. The local community supports this nursing home with lots of community involvement. Musical groups and church groups come to perform. Since it is a smalll town, a person can come in and visit 2 or 3 old neighbors together in one of the public areas of the home, or outside in nice weather in one of the gazebos. Residents are encouraged to have bird feeders, etc, outside their window. The grounds are nicely landscaped and there is a wheel chair acessible path through the grounds. Efforts have been successfully made to make this as pleasant a place as possible.
